My sister and i have always argued as to which one is the better Doctor. She picks David Tennant's and I picked Matt Smith's. I would like to hear your honest opinions as to who is the better Doctor.

David Tennant's doctor always acted seriously but never fails to talk quickly and brilliantly at the same time. When he tries to make the doctor seem funny, i feel more seriousness than jokey. In the end of each episode, he always relied on the sonic screwdriver to save himself or his companion or even other people.

Matt Smith's doctor does talk quickly and brilliantly at the same time but shows a funny side to his character. He never really depends on his sonic screwdriver but his smarts and what he has available to him. He is mysterious in his own way and tries really hard to protect his companions though he has made mistakes before.

I would like to hear your honest opinions as to who is the better Doctor. Have fun with it!

In my Opinion it would be David Tennants doctor. But half of that is the way it was filmed. I felt like when the 9th doctor left and we had the 10th doctor come in, the story was still kind of connected to the 9th doctor with Rose and the plotline, etc. So It kind of felt like It was the same person between 9th and 10th even though it wasn't. Then when 11th came in, I just felt like It was a different TV Show, sure there were some flashbacks and scenes for when he was the earlier doctor, but I just felt It really was a completely different person when technically they should all be the same. Also the problem with production, during 11 I felt the plot was all over the place with the episodes kind of being random. While with David Tennants it felt like there was an actual plot, one plot that went on through 9th and 10th.

Acting wise, I like both, but I just feel like David Tennant just brings in the whole package. He was serious when he needed to be, like his emotional scenes were flawless, especially during the end of Season 2 (? might have been 3 I don't remember) when he lost Rose. He was funny and sarcastic right on key and just the way he acted it seemed just so natural to me. Sure Matt Smith is funny, but I think in a way he plays the role a bit too funny? If that makes sense.

This is just my opinion honestly, though it may have to do with the fact that David Tennant is my older man crush LOLL. But In all honesty I just like the way david tennant played his role, I thought he had good chemistry with all his co-stars and the plot lines for his part were a lot better. If Matt smith was the 10th doctor and had seasons 2-4 instead of 5+ I don't think he would be able to be as emotional as Matt Smith would be.

Wow. Interesting opinion. I never thought about it that way. David Tennant is great after all. It is mentioned that everytime he changes, he has a different personality. So Matt Smith being funny as compared to David Tennant being emotional is due to changing oneself as a time lord. When i saw season 7 episode 1, Matt definitely gave me the impression that he is indeed portraying the doctor himself.

I haven't seen the new episode that came out a couple of days yet x.x LOOL. But I don't know i just don't take Matt seriously :P like but like I said, the plot is the reason as to why they are so different (for me that is) and actually like I said earlier going by the side story 10th had with Rose, Matt wouldn't be able to match Tennant's chemistry. I've seen Matt act in another tv show with Billie Piper and it was just "bleh" LOLL. For me after season 4 I feel like the writers kind of gave up and were just throwing things around. Again that's my personal opinion.

Oh ok. I can see where you're coming from. You should definitely see season 7. It is amazing and might change your opinion on Matt but that's up to you. If you stick with David, that's ok.

I swore I wasn't going to get into this but; David was HYPER! He was spontaneous and had a lot of dramatic effect and funny too.
Matt is a little more methodical in his approach to the Doctor. He's subdued, quiet, then suddenly explodes with raw passion only when needed.
That's my take on these two, and I liked Tennant a little better than Smith, but he's growing on me with that impish grin of his!
Let me just add though, that NEITHER hold a candle to the likes of Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee as the Doctor!

Chris cause he's sassy. ( all of them were awesome from the New Series) but 11's era is kinda eh less emotional and too many plot holes (moffat ) but ive seen matt in interviews and he's adorable and kind and he's actually 11 cause he's childish as hell

I've seen from the 2nd Doctor and they're also kinda alike. I bet they're a mix and match of past regenerations That vid makes me want to watch the Classic but I NEED TO FIND TIMEEEEEEE~~ But, if you really want to know. David is my favorite from the 2005 series. I loved that man to bits to the point my best friend told me to grow up and let him go ( I don't want to go )

I liked David too. But when Matt came along...he became my next favourite. Ya don't have to let go of David. He lives on in the hearts of many whovians.
