Welcomes and Intro's!
Hi and welcome to Anime Down Under!
Please do tell us where bouts in Australia you're from along with a few words about yourself too if you want
Make sure to keep this group in the back of your mind whilst running around the forums and try to spread the word as much as you can. Afterall the more Aussies we round up, the more merrier it gets!
To kick things off.
I'm from Sydney and I'm currently undergoing university studies in Mechatronics Engineering. Been exposed to anime since i was a little kid, but have only really started getting into it as a hobby since 2005/2006
Right then, I'm a Singaporean-Australian from Melbourne, currently studying Commerce at the University of Melbourne. As for anime, I don't really watch much, but I was really into the Dragonball franchise. As of now, though, the only anime I bother to watch are the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series and K-On!.
Hi! I'm from Melbourne, and I've just finished year 9 ^^
I'm a huge anime/manga fan, and have been for almost 3 years now, and I especially love comedy and psychological animes
G'day guys. I'm from sydney. I study occupcuptional therapy at uni, and don't stress, nobody knows what that is :-S
I'm your garden variety white girl, but I went to a high school where the majority of the students were asian...and thus started my love of everything Japanese. I've been into anime for about 5 or 6 years but predominantly watch the most commonly known ones.
I don't know how this group found me, but it sounds good. Any questions? Just ask, I'm pretty much an open book
Cara, i basically ran a search through the members list for whoever was located in Australia according to their profiles.
I then sent a mass invite to everyone who last logged in since November, that's about 70 invites all up.
There's around 60 pending invites left to be rsvp'd and mind you I've only covered 15% of the total members who have Australia on their profile as their location
Lotsa work to be done and plenty of opportunities for this group to expand
P.S: Thanks a lot for joining the group everyone! Feel free to start up any new discussions whenever you want, on whatever you want
I live in Sydney. Just finished my HSC and Year 12 this year. Well, I don't have much to say, but I've been interested in anime since 2001.
Full Metal Coast
hey everyone. live in Perth WA love playing football (AFL) love surfing and Anime. always have watched anime a bit on and off but from the end of 08 i have started watching it alot more. go to Uni at Notre Dame in Fremantle and am studying Marketing and Management part time while working full time for a shipping company.
Huh. Well, what do you know. Hey Cara!
And hey everyone else from Oz that I don't know about!
I'm a French-Chinese guy living in Sydney. I've graduated from a design computing degree last year and have been freelancing ever since. I've only been in Australia for the past 5 years, I've otherwise lived in Europe and Africa mostly.
I live in South Gippsland right down the bottom of Victoria near the coast on a dairy farm. About a three and a half hour drive from Melbourne CBD.
I'm working for Murray Goulburn Co Op in a Trading Store as a "retail rural sales representative" according to my pay packet but it's really just an over glorified title for a check out chick. I tend to spend my days out the back warehouse driving the forklift and keeping things in order.
The job is only a temporary measure as I'm simply awaiting a two year hiatus from the Defence Force to expire and be on my way to RMC Duntroon. When I previously applied to join (May 2008) my father was terminally ill at the time and just wanted me to wait two years for things to settle down.
My father died in August that year and it was that loss that made me turn to anime to escape reality for a little while and has blossomed into an interest in character orientated works and fast paced action animes.
I first got introduced to anime while in Yr 12 (probably didn't do much for my VCE) by a mate, have been out of school for a year now heading back to complete a duel degree in Nursing and Paramedicine next year.
I live in Ballarat which is about an hour and a half out of Melbourne and my background is English/German so I'm not biased, I have been to Japan on a school trip and really enjoyed everything about it. Besides anime I enjoy gaming both on PC and Xbox Live (Gamertag Trilobiteer117) and I also play Warhammer 40K.
I am somewhat a bit of a car person and work at the local garage on weekends to earn a bit of extra cash, and am very proud of my first car (even if it is just a magna). My ultimate goal is to become a medivac in the RAAF or RAA flying around in the back of either a Herc or a Blackhawk (although probably MRH90's by the time I get in).
Nice to meet other Aussies round here, Trilo.
hi guys, i'm in melbourne. go to RMIT and do aerospace engineering. everywhere i've been there was some form of an anime club so i guess i grew up on anime. freaking sick this group got created. anyway nice to meet you all
Hey, I'm a year 9 student from NSW, and it is awesome to see that there's so many Australian anime fans here. :D
watashi wa catherine desu... lols for people who are unsure of the meaning (hello, nice to meet you, my name is catherine, hmmm well i live in Vic on a dairy Farm in south east Vic, otherwise known as gippsland, which im guessing i don't live too farm from fallschirmjager, though think they might be more south...
Anyways.. watched a lil bit of sailor moon pokemon DBZ on cheese TV when i was lil, but didn't know it was anime, then in like yr 10 started watching i think Chobits and a couple of others, but in Yr 12 a friend properly introduced me to anime, and yes it Really doesn't help with studying!!!!
i more watch Shoujo Anime, favourites being Ashita no Nadja, Kaleido Star, Fruits Basket, Full Metal Panic, and Studio Ghibli movies and i normally watch anime in Jap with eng subbies- hence the jap i've learnt
Since graduating yr 12 in '07, have been studying cert. 3&4 in IT and working... yays.... lol
anyway thanks for the group brocko
hope we all get to know and help each other
North West, up near Port Hedland. I don't watch much anime because it's mostly garbage, but I sub a lot I guess. No idea if anyone has heard of any of my groups though or if anyone cares \o/
I study aviomechatronics at multiple universities, and I work in systems infrastructure/video production.
hey, im for brizzy
just starting year 11, and i have been studying japanese since year 8 and i am enjoying it.
I just got back from japan recently and somehow i love manga and anime more now
In year 8 my friend and i made a deal that i would read the first 2 books of fruits basket if she watched the show firefly that i wanted her to see.
I was relucutant at first to read manga, it seemed preeety geeky to me and now i am the bigggest otaku ever.
Sydney guy, got into anime late last year.
mostly from school influences. XD
Hello from Canberra
I am a older anime fan since 1991 back in the days of VHS thanks to Robotech and haven't stopped watching anime since.
I am with a anime club in Canberra which will be having screening again in late Feburary. ANUAS.ORG is the group site.
hey im a camberra guy and ive been waching anime sinse i was little (before pokemon went bad) and i only started realy geting in to it when i was in year 7 because there was a manga club and yea most of the anime i watch most people havent heard of because most of the club is naruto fans/bleach fans
and that is me!
I am a University student from Melbourne studying Architecture. I have a general passion for the anime sub culture built up mainly from an overtly obsessed friend [$16.5k worth of Anime, Manga and Movies since he started collecting in 04] Anime is a good past time I try to restrict pending studies workload. But sometimes [around Supernova and Manifest] I get back into the Anime swing of things.
Currently watching To Aru Mojutsu no Railgun, FMA:Brotherhood and K-On S2.
Realizing you necro'd a thread without meaning too because you noticed you were invited to a group quite a bit later then you should have. Not so great.
Uber late welcome binjuice lol
And don't sweat the necro too much, the thread's made for welcomes and intro's after all no matter how late they may be
