Since Picture It got a bit of a bumpy start we're going to give an alternative type of event a try. So as of now Picture It is no longer organized.
So what are challenges?
Challenges are member created events. Each one of you can create a challenge around a theme of your choosing. The number of active challenges per member is limited to two.
Entry period of the challenge will run for as long as it takes to gather 10 entries, if however within six months the challenge has 4 or less entries it will be closed without voting phase. If it has 5-7 entries, the maximum number of entries per participant is increased to 3 and deadline extended until 10 slots are filled or with a maximum of one month. If it has 8 or more entries it will be put up for voting as it is. When all the slots are filled or the time limit has been reached the entries will be put up for public voting in the Fan Creations section of the forums. The winner will be the one with the most votes.
The grand prize will be bragging rights.
Creator of the challenge decides on the rules for the event, however to avoid confusion technical rules will be the same for all events.
How to create a challenge?
Creating a challenge is simple. You just create a challenge thread here in the group. Challenge topic must be in following format:
________________________________________
Subject:
{challenge} - Theme - 12/21/2009
All challenge thread subjects must follow this format. First "{challenge}" tag, then theme and then the creation date of the challenge in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Technical Rules:
The entries must be submitted in JPEG format. Maximum file size is not limited. Total pixel count of the entries must be less or equal to 2 megapixels. (2000000 pixels) You can check this by multiplying the width of the image by its height in pixels. To determine the dimensions, you can use for example
this calculator. Here are the maximum dimensions for a few of the most common image aspect ratios:
4/3 = 1631x1226
3/2 = 1732x1154
1/1 = 1414x1414
16/9 = 1886x1060
A thumbnail version of the image will also be needed for the voting thread. These will be 400x400 pixels. It's recommended that you make it yourself but if you don't submit one it will be created by resizing your entry to appropriate size and cropping it to square format.
Submitting entries:
You can submit your entries to challenge threads. Entering by private or profile messages to either challenge creator or the group governor
is no longer allowed.
Mark your entries with a tag {entry}. Because the search features of the social groups are fairly limited post this tag first in your post to make searching easier. If you submit a thumbnail yourself, mark which link is to your entry and which is to the thumbnail to make creating the voting threads faster.
Here are two examples:
{entry}

You can also post possible entries, which you don't wish to finalize yet. In this case
do not use the {entry} tag.
Entry phase works with first come, first served style so the first 10 entries will go forward to voting. If you post more than two entries the
first two will be counted as your final entries, so don't use the {entry} tag unless you're sure that you actually want to enter the photo.

As said, the technical rules will be the same for all challenges, but to be on the safe side you're required to attach them to your challenge thread's opening post.
All challenge thread that do not comply with this format will be deleted.
Voting:
Winner of the challenge will be determined by a public poll in Fan Creation sub-forum. The poll will be open for a week. Participants will not be allowed to vote for their own entries. You'll be able to vote for only one entry.
Voting threads will be created by the group Governor.
Once the voting thread is up, entry threads will be deleted. This is to avoid confusion and to keep the number of threads here in the group somewhat reasonable.
