Akage no Ann
This is a thread for discussing Anne of Green Gables. This is 40 episodes. There is also a 'Before Green Gables' anime I think based on a book series that came out, it is a more recent one. I don't think there are any anime of the subsequent stories like 'Anne of Avonlea' or further.
It's not 40, it's 50 episodes, and what a lovely 50 episodes they were.
I read the first three books of this and I love it. I've only seen one episode of the anime (and a few of Before Green Gables), but I DO have plans to watch this once I finish various other titles. My anime list is just too cluttered up right now.
Oh whoops =) I must have gotten the numbers mixed up when I was making the pages, sorry rag.
Fire you should watch your anime in chronological order =)
Anne of Green Gables? I hope they dub it on Spacetoon. I've heard the books are good, but I can't seem to find them.
By this point I believe they are all public domain, so if you can't find them in your public library you can get them from Project Gutenberg I think
I watched about 4 episodes of this yet I already love it!
Great, hope you enjoy 'Before Green Gables Hello Anne' the prequel once it's over, I'm waiting to get that since it's not completed yet
C1 didn't actually release Akage no Anne. I did translate 6 episodes for Lunar, but that didn't go anywhere.
Finished up Akage no Anne a few weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it as well - I just LOVE the dramatic/exxagerated statements Anne comes up with and Matthew and Marilla.
I've only seen 6 episodes of this, but I plan to watch it over the summer once school gets out for me.
Finally found the 39 eps of Konnichiwa Anne: Before Green Gables ... am looking forward to them.
I've seen 18 episodes of Before Green Gables (I do love ray=out's subs, but I HATE how my players mess up the episode titles and the eyecatches! It annoys the heck out of me!), and I really like it. I especially love Anne's new voice. A child actress (and the same girl who did Kohane in xxxHolic and Mizuno in Star Driver)!
I guess it makes sense, we only saw glimpses of child anne in the original series. I want more of her psychotic mirror-friend drama.
I decided to give up on waiting for Ray=out's subs and went for ARR's, and now I'm on episode 30! Nine more episodes to go!...but I have to admit, I really hate Mrs. Hammond in this anime. She was MUCH nicer in the novel, albeit possibly having post-partum depression from having too many babies at once. In here she immediately calls Anne a pitiful wretch who came from nowhere and doesn't even give her a chance! I mean, COME ON, WOMAN!!
By the way, has anyone read the Before Green Gables novel? I have a few times, and it's wonderful, and the anime is wonderful too, though it kinda deviates from it a lot.
I read them decades ago ... but I do not remember much of them to be honest, so could not really identify whether or no the WMT version diverted or no....
Haven't gotten to reading the novels yet, probably after I finish Dune will do.
From Dune to Anne of Green Gables? *scratches head*
Now THAT would be a strange crossover....
I finally managed to finish this anime! Yahoo! And yes, I've read the Before Green Gables novel. I own it, and it's wonderful.
Came across this reliable batch that's been around since 2004:
Also the Before Green Gables series was fully subbed by ARR at 480p, but I found this other batch that has 720p eps from ray=out for the first 18. I figure the switch wouldn't be that bothersome. An ARR-only batch is listed as an alternate:
