Annddd ... also finished watching this series, which was completed by Licca and Wasurenai working together.

I much prefer the book, but I thought they did a pretty good job in telling the story. For me, though, the voice acting felt somehow less "lively" than other W.M.T. works I have watched....

I LOVE THIS ANIME!!! Of course, not NEARLY as much as another WMT title, but who cares? I think the anime of Les Mis is awesome beyond belief, even with the changes they made from the book (I confess I haven't actually read the book, but I saw the musical on DVD in middle school, so that counts, right?). It's a shame people are thinking it's some kiddie-fied moe show. They NEED to give it a chance! Especially episodes 39-45 are the best!!!

Agreed FireChick ... Les Miserables is much more serious than people give it credit for.

Oh wow, Licca finished this too. This group is the beastliest thing I have seen in a long time.

I know, not to mention all those unknown series ARR has been doing. Even if some people get mad at first ep only releases, I respect that this allows more quantity to be done. It would allow other groups to pick it up and nothing prevents from coming back to do it later.

I find it sad that some ppl who have not read Les Miserables dismiss this anime on the basis that most World Masterpiece animes are "kiddy".

But I agree, the book is much better than anime. I guess it's because the style of writing in the book, which accentuates the theme.

Ranking things as 'better' is a waste of time to me =/ There are benefits to both the written and animated presentations of stories that are quite unique to them. They're so largely different that I can't even think where to begin making comparisons.

WMT's hardly kiddy, Akage no Anne is pretty sad after all.
