Tenhou is quite convenient for this. I'm not sure about Ron2 or Mahjong time. I may have to try those. But for now, I am working with Tenhou.
Well, post. Comment. Rant. Analyze. Or outright make fun of someone's (or your own's) gameplay. Enjoy.
Got any games that made you go:
Post those too.
Couldn't get a win, but managed to finish second as player D closes out the game in East-4 - winning 3 renchans knocking out player B.
Well... I was doing just fine and dandy throughout the game -- until I did something stupid. FML.
Hindsight... I don't know what was I thinking dropping that West. Or, I don't know why I was even holding it. I'd have to say - I allowed the 1-pins get to me. Ironically, I did think: "OK, I have the lead. I better play defense." No, really, I did.
Solid game for the win. But nothing fancy. Only lost points on tsumos, no direct hit. That's how things should be.
Strange seeing so many possible chanta or jun-chan hands. Probably at least 4 times. Naturally, I went after such hands each time. But, they never manifested. Those are slow hands to develop; but they're the best way to deal with so many honor/terminals on the deal.
Sad to have thrown out a potential ryan-peiko. But, I'm not too much of a fan of sequences, which also includes a pair. Might oughta utilize those in the future sometime.
Another such example:
Basically - myself vs person to my right. Similarly, point losses limited by avoiding direct hit.
After not having played riichi for quite some time , i decided to give it a try on tenhou today. I used to play it on some other site though.
Surprisingly i did very well
A: bakahyl (+58.0)
D: kayanisi (-52.0)
Just a bad game where nothing went my way.
I'll look back on this one later.
Two rounds of pathetic play. And to be honest, I didn't really bother all that much about defensive play. I simply didn't feel like it.
Had some decent hands here, but never got the hit on any of 'em.
One player left, after I hit him with a cheap hand. Though, he prolly thought it was a big hand. But whatever. Played on to see what kind of hands I could fool around with.
Well, this one's embarrassing. A complete anal rapage.
Where did I go wrong? Everywhere.
Simple note. Don't bother trying to develop a hand that is very very very far behind in developing.
And a follow up game:
This one... generally myself vs the guy across from me, while the dude to the left remained smug.
Severely bad judgement on East 1-2 - tossing away a very potentially high hand and settling cheap. At the time, that just made me take the opportunity to just hit that player ASAP. One thing to note, if a player tosses a tile, likely the player would toss it again in the event of another draw.
3-Riichi situation for the win.
I tell you though. I hate giving away big hands, like the one where I had 3-dora right off the bat. Tried racing the player who went open first too.
Ugh, tight game. Could have won it with a Rinshan - but - I feared dropping a red 5-pin.
Built up a pretty sizable lead, leading everyone by at least 30K by midway through the South round. But, things started to fall apart in the latter rounds; yet, I hung on enough just to close out the game.
Grabbed the lead, and moved things along with some quick hands.
Got caught in a series of exchanges which put me on a losing end. And I had some pretty good starting hands too; oh, how those were wasted.
Very lucky. Knocked one person out to close the game for the win. On the honitsu hand, I had the choice of calling on the red 5-wan. Good thing I did not.
EDIT: On that same hand, potential ryan-peiko that I had not noticed earlier.
Very tight game going into the last hand. Boneheaded move in the first hand. I was feeling the 4-pin to be a dangerous one. Upon dropping it to get tenpai, I was correct. Often do I get penalized for aggression. Last hand, chanta would have sufficed; but I screwed myself dropping honor tiles too early. Upon tenpai, my wait on 1-wan was not very favorable.
I've forced a couple hands here. In one instance, I dropped an entire meld. That set me back in that round.
Oh... this is the type of game that'll make you mad. And I did get pretty mad.
I'll comment more later.
A feel better game. Had a zooming start. Played defensive as soon after dealer rotation.
Upon entering, I see the ranks of the other players; and they're pretty much up there. The game was tight most of the way through, until the player to my right pretty much ran away with it. I managed to avoid any major damage. The one time I did get hit, it was minor; though, it was a bad decision with the intent of simply getting tenpai. Points there would have been lost anyways. Even so, the risk was not worth it.
I managed to lose some points heavily for a couple rounds; but I made all that up - and then some - by going on a roll. That put me within striking distance of the leader, who managed to get a roll of his own at the very beginning.
Had a small roll mid-game. And that brought things tight for 3 players while, the player across was pretty much out. Managed to close the game out with a late riichi.
I score two baimans... and still placed 3rd. Simply, I screwed up so badly. Twice I had under 1000 points. Oy vey.
