Seiyuu Wishlist - Haruhi
Help me compile that list, and I'll edit this post.
Katsuyuki Konishi as Haruki
Emiri Katou as Kyonko
Jun Fukuyama as Mitsuuru
Hiroshi Kamiya as Yuuki
Ami Koshimizu as Itsuko
and Tetsuya Kakihara as Tsuruya
My personal list of choice.
For minor characters... hmm.
Rie Kugimiya as the Computer Club President
Akiko Yajima as Otouto
Mitsuo Iwata as Kimidori
Shinichiro Miki as Ryou
Marina Inoue as Taniguchi
and Megumi Matsumoto as Kunikida
And, for lulz, Kujira as Shamisen.
I'll contribute to this...
I pretty much agree with almost all of Kaiso's choices. Except for...
Yui Horie or Ayako Kawasumi as Kyonko
Jun Fukuyama as Ryou
Megumi Ogata as Mitsuuru
Kikuko Inoue as Itsuko.
And...that's it. xD
Shinichiro Miki is the voice of Assassin in F/SN, who Ryou is pretty much based off of. That's why I suggested him.
Yui Horie is much too, well, bubbly for Kyonko. Ayako Kawasumi is good though.
Kikuko Inoue sounds a bit too old to play Itsuko, but Megumi Ogata for Mitsuuru, well, heh. Works.
Only reason I suggested Jun Fukuyama is because he can voice BOTH Mitsuurus.
To tell you the truth, I can't really picture Ryou having Assassin's voice. Seems just a little too deep to me.
Well, after I watched a clip from the first episode of Vampire Knight, I figured that Yui Horie's voice for Yuuki would fit Kyonko pretty well.
Hmm...good point about Kikuko Inoue.
Watching School Rumble and listening to Ami Koshimizu, I'd say that she probably could fit Itsuko well, if she wasn't quite as high-pitched as she was for Tenma.
Really? Jun Fukuyama can play shotas? o____o;;
Which shota role did he do, exactly?
Ryou is supposed to have a deep voice. He's really samurai-esque already.
And he was based off of Assassin in the first place, so...
Never seen Vampire Knight.
For the particular voice Ami Koshimizu does that I'm after for Itsuko, go watch Spice and Wolf. Horo ftw.
And as for Jun Fukuyama voicing shoutas... well, he voices the shouta in Macross Frontier, and his role in EVE no Jikan could also count, given how unmanly Rikuo is.
Hmmm...good point there. But after watching someone fandub one of the episodes (genderbent, of course), that's kind of how I pictured he'd sound. It's on Youtube somewhere...
And when I watched Spice and Wolf (Lawrence's parts), I think that Jun Fukuyama would fit Ryou better.
But...I guess it kind of depends if Shinichiro Miki can do the "nice perfect bishounen" voice or not. I watched some videos of Assassin and I've only heard what Ryou'd sound like if he were attacking Yuuki. xD
To tell you the truth, me either. Nor do I really want to. But I was looking at voice references when you guys were doing another VA debate that occurred earlier on. Yui Horie was suggested, so I looked up Vampire Knight and her role for Yuuki Cross, and I thought the voice fit.
Hmm...it does sound okay. But I guess if Ami Koshimizu were just a smidge less high-pitched (like in some of Horo's happy scenes), then it'd be what I had in mind.
I actually had a girl's voice in mind for Mitsuuru. I can't really picture a guy doing his voice at all (except for when he's older, or course), not even if it's a shota voice. I think Megumi Ogata would do a good job as Mitsuuru.
Megumi Ogata's pretty much retired anyway and making Mitsuuru too much like Shinji kind of terrifies me.
Really? She is? o___o;;
Hmm...are there any other female seiyuus who can do shota voices? I know there are more, but I don't really know the names of any of them.
@Kaisos: Wait wait wait. It was originally your suggestion to base Mitsuru off of Shinji.
Yes. But now I think Shouta-Jun would be a better voice.
Well, I think that Mitsuuru, no matter what, is going to be like Shinji anyway. So, why not embrace that and give him a female seiyuu? xD
Because female voice actresses sound next to nothing like actual little boys.
The hard part is not the voicing for normal Mitsuuru. It is traditional for shotas to be voiced by females because they can always keep doing that voice where as if they used a real little boy, his voice would deepen over time and thus could not continue to use that character as voiced. (thus you have series that are almost thirty years old about a ten year old boy that is still voiced the same because it is a woman doing it)
The hard part is getting a good voice that can do both Small and Big Mitsuuru. Especially if Mitsuuru is still suppose to come off as helpless as Mikuru while being dragged around by Haruki (and/or cosraped, turned trap if that comes up). It also depends on how manly-effeminate Big Mitsuuru's voice is suppose to be verses Haruki's personal Doormat Mutsuuru.
"Mutsuuru". Ha, that's awesome.
And yeah, that's why I (actually CatMegex, but...) suggested Jun Fukuyama because he's capable of doing both voices.
How about Konomi Maeda for Female Okabe?
Okabe only talks onscreen like, twice in the show.
His role in the books isn't much larger either. Haruhi really isn't a high school anime...
Edit: HAHAHAHA Nanako-sensei HAHAHAHA
Okay, that works just because female Okabe is a bit like that.
Hadn't realized this thread existed, so...
I'd actually recommended Sayaka Ohara for Itsuko a while back. (Milly in Geass, Alicia in Aria, Hatsune in Tona-Gura!, Yasuko in Toradora!, Urutori in Utawarerumono, etc. Oh, and Bel-Peol in Shakugan no Shana, a rare villain role.)
Wait, Milly and Yasuko are voiced by the same person?
I think her voice sounds a bit too old in general, though. (As does Kikuko Inoue's.) We want Itsuko to sound young and pretty. That's why I suggested Ami Koshimizu.
Hm... well, I suppose she is able to do the ojou-type voice. (With the one character that I can think of at the moment being Kuon from Koharu Biyori.)
Also o_o; she voices Caren Ortensia in Fate/Tiger Colosseum. I... did not know that.
