Hidan no Aria subbed by GG was meant to be a joke sub cause the guys at GG thought the anime was so bad it deserved to be ridiculed. Not that I really know the exact incident since I never watched that series.

... that, too (tae, kaya pala e). That's the other problem with fansub groups. Kung ayaw nila ung isang anime or kung "deserving" ang isang anime na bigyan ng mejo fucked-up na subs (as MartianMage mentioned), e talagang bibigyan nila much to the rage of the people who watch subbed anime. That shows lack of professionalism to their side. Kahit naman mejo magulo/pangit ang execution ng storyline ng isang anime ay kahit papaano bigyan naman nila ng
decent
subs... leave the judging to the viewers.
PS: Sorry for the profanity.

I'm part of the minority here as I prefer English dubs. Animax is an exception though. Understandable naman na pangit ung dubs nila. But I like FUNimation's dubs.
The reason I prefer dubs over subs is because I don't like reading a cartoon/animation. That's what comics and manga are for. Plus, tbh, some Japanese voices are very annoying, particularlt high pitched Japanese girl voices. They also tend to overact. >.< But if there's an anime I really want to watch and there's no dub available, I'd watch in sub.
