Eren's no Shinji I feel but yea I don't feel he's a particularly impressive character either. Attack on Titan is somewhat decent but it's found elsewhere. I don't obsess too much.

And yea, Tsuzuki thinks that if you play the tragedy card enough blindly, it's gonna work. Just because it worked a few times, doesn't mean you can blindly push it forward.

Yea, any time you get a source material that gets regarded as Biblical and if you haven't been enlightened to every detail and all the supplementary material, you are some heathen. It's the same shit that has caused humanity grief over history on a smaller scale. This happens with every crappy LN, and you could see the worst with Haruhi-- while FSN is certainly not that, it could get kinda bad.

I can't exactly blame them (at least, not all of them), since it is a given there is another extreme at work: some people are pretty abrasive when it comes to criticism, even watching shows that won't be to their liking.
Hell, we had members who had to "crash the party" when a series is too popular and/or from a specific anime studio / directed by a specific individual.

To me, anime series in general generate a bipolar audience, and it becomes apparent that "you must be in a side: either you are with us, or with 'them'" trop is being more present over the years. I'm pretty sure this trend was there ever since late 2000, but it becomes quite apparent since 2010 imho.

The fun fact is that I'm probably being tagged as a SAO hater, despite I'm actually interested in the game setup.
I don't particularly aim for having the last word, but I always respond to people arguments when it comes to facts. Interpretations are a different matter, obviously.

Pretty good and fair assessment you wrote of the first episode of SAO II and the Sailor Moon remake. I agree with you on how both shows seem to be aiming a fair bit for comedy so far.

With SAO II, I like how the game is a gritty gun-based one. That's a nice change of pace from elf-world.

I found the first episode of Sailor Moon 2014 pretty good. As a teenager, I sometimes enjoyed just chilling out to Sailor Moon. It was a fun watch, nothing to take all that seriously (much like DBZ). It'll probably continue to deliver simple enjoyment for me.

And thanks for the doujin you linked to! I just finished the first Chapter, and it looks promising so far. Very nice artwork and I like the foreign otaku nature of one of the characters.

Just so you know, July 12th (the second Saturday in July, this year) is a local festivity, and my family is fairly busy with it. The festivity also started early yesterday with parades and fireworks.
