I appreciate the considerable courage that you showed on the boards, and agree with a fair bit of what you wrote there. Like yourself, I wouldn't want ecchi and fanservice to go away entirely (it wouldn't be fair to the biggest fans of them), but maybe it has become overly commonplace in anime, and is starting to define the entire anime genre/medium a bit too much. I would argue that anime is much, much bigger than ecchi/fanservice alone, and this is what the anime industry and its fans really need to get across so that we can win more hearts and minds to at least respecting anime, if not embracing it themselves.

In any event, don't feel like you are alone in your viewpoints. I think that the main problem is that some of your postings came while people's emotions were understandably running a bit high, and that probably factored into some of the more critical responses you've seen. For that same reason, though, I'm not going to publicly debate these issues at this time. It's just not good timing for it. Let's at least give the fandom a chance to cool down a bit first.

That being said, feel free to chat with me personally (by visitor messages or PMs) on this issue at any time. I think that I'd enjoy getting to read more from a person with your perspective.

You mean Star Trek? I like it very much. I wouldn't say it rewrites the past TV series and movies for me. But as an alternate universe-type story, I'm glad they made it.
