This is going to be offtopic at this rate, so I believe it is better done here:

You're a lot of fun at parties, aren't you?
There's "considering standards" and there's "basic language / words meaning and understanding". When you say something like "extremely abysmal", those are 2 strong words, and when put together they kinda mean that something's totally-absolutely-incredibly-horrible and beyond all salvation, and you can't blame people or start acting all... arrogant or something like that, just because they get that idea from that word combination. It's like calling someone "stupid" and when they get mad telling them that for you "stupid" is kind of a good thing or a praise, cause you could've called them "moron", "idiot" or "retarded".

I did use those words on purposes because I did consider them as "extremely" bad. But it was Obelisk who immediately concluded "then it is unwatchable?".
The very reason why I called him out was because he made a very hasty conclusion about my opnion without considering the larger picture: I never stated it was unwatchable, I never used terms or expressions illustrating that kind of extreme opinion (such as "worst thing I've ever watched" "this is a disgrace" and so forth=. It was simply a very negative appreciation of ONE part of ONE episode of a given series.
Your example doesn't really work that much because you are comparing an insult to a negative comment, moreso that your analogy is about an individual as a whole, while I was pretty upset about 1 episode in particular.
That's the very reason why I always make sure to drive the point when it comes to my criticism: thus far, I believe I never mixed the points I've brought to the wrong episodes (For instance, I didn't criticize the CGI last week and this week unlike those during the car chase episode).
Finally, the last reason why I made such dry comment was also because Obelisk has the knack at exaggerate or misinterpret others' opinion at times, and it was definitely the case this time around.
Either way, it was never my intention to abuse words or make my opinion as a fact whatsoever. But I believe I brought a fair (albeit negative) opinion like any others for a very specific episode.
