It's fine. You're not saying anything more harsh than Pocari_Sweat is, that's for sure.

One thing I've always liked about you is that you consistently call it as you see it, no exceptions, no sugarcoating. You can have better discussions that way because you don't have to try to read between the lines as much, or wonder if something passive-aggressive is going on.

And in fairness to you, if a lot of your RL anime buddies are refusing to watch 2011 shows for artstyle/animation reasons then that is pretty sad, lol. I can understand 80s or before anime, maybe even 90s anime, being a bit of an adjustment for newer anime fans, but freaking 2011? Wow.

As for Huniepop, I might buy the game on Monday or Tuesday. My work schedule has been a bit chaotic lately, and so I'm waiting for that to settle down first.

I've finished all of Huniepop now with the exception of Momo (didn't read how to actually get her until yesterday and now seem unable to get the goldfish to spawn in the store anymore after previously giving 2 of them away). I don't have a ranked list for the girls but Audrey is still #1 and Nikki is absolute bottom. The whole "I'm a cynical gamer and everyone except me sucks, listen to me pretend to have the moral highground while whining about how bad everyone is while I myself find it too much of a hassle to treat anyone else with respect" schtick was already old before she finished her first line. She should go join the cast of No Game No Life, she'd fit right in. The fact that she was also the one character who I would say had legitimately bad voice acting didn't help.

Audrey is much better, she's honest and you know where you stand with her. No self-righteous whining or persecution complex. I actually think having an associate like her (I doubt the term "friend" could ever apply here lol) would be pretty fun.

I don't even bother to read random people's comments about stuff like this. I already know how all the conversations go anyway:

"Anything that depicts a female in any sort of sexual manner is sexist and pandering to the evil straight male"
You can be a girl in this game too
"That's just pandering to the disgusting straight male who likes fantasy lesbians, not actual lesbians"
This game actually had a ton of females on the staff
"They just don't know what's best for themselves like I do. They've been indoctrinated by the Patriarchy"

    or

"I consider myself to be a champion of all minority groups (despite being a middle class white male who only hangs out with other middle class white males, while hating on middle class white males), and thus I am utterly offended by the portrayal of all the various ethnic groups in this game. They only did this so they could say they wanted to be diverse and didn't portray them in exactly the manner I think they should be, so it is racist."

These are the real people you have to watch out for. I'm actually surprised this game managed to release in a western market that is becoming absolutely infested with worthless human beings like this.

I actually find it amusing how much they changed Audrey from the original concept. The line "Though the extent of the problem is unclear, Tiffany and Nikki suspect Audrey of having drug abuse issues." especially gets me. They went from that to having straight up drugs as gift items for her haha.

One thing I will definitely give the game credit for is that the characters in general have ended up being way better than I'd have expected after the intro told me my only goal was to get laid by hot chicks. They actually kinda feel like characters instead of just tropes that only exist to be dominated by the protagonist like in many other VNs I've played. Even something ridiculous like Kyu talking about how if food was a guy she'd "fuck his brains out" is really striking to me, as it depicts her as an independent person who wants that on her own terms instead of the usual weakling who just submits completely to the main character, something even "strong-willed" anime and VN girls often end up failing at. I actually find it really intriguing how cultural differences can subtly manifest through stuff like this.

Oh, and that ice rink music. I would legit vote for that as best song in a game of the year competition.

Scared? Nono, just disinterested because it's all about the challenge and Monara provides none. With Tuulani, she is infinitely corruptible, while Audrey requires you to weather the "megabitch" attitude to earn your just reward. Or, it could just be that I made up both this reasoning and the previous post in the WoW thread on the spot and will always say what I think is funniest in regards to the current situation when it comes to anime and game girls even if it directly contradicts previous stuff I've said.

I actually do kinda like Audrey for real though. I originally decided to pursue her first because I was approaching from the angle of "I am only playing this stupid game for the lulz so obviously let's go for the worst girl" but she ended up being kinda refreshing as a character because she actually breaks character archetypes that I hate. None of that tsundere BS where she abuses you but secretly loves you and goes from angry to blushing at the drop of a hat - her demeanor remains consistent, she makes it very clear she's just in it for a good time and is always honest about it.

I don't really think I have as high of an opinion of the game as you do but I'll admit there is definitely more to it than I was expecting from all the word of mouth.

Yes, I've heard a little bit about HuniePop, and I've seen some artwork for it.

From what I've heard/seen, it seems to be a VN-inspired/styled game, but American-made with American/English character names. I really like the concept behind the game, and I've been considering getting it myself.

Have you played it, LS? What do you think of it?

Ohh, it was a lot of work reaching there; don't remind me of the number-- I stopped counting a while back. xD

    Hope you are doing well.

I liked Kantai Collection's first episode. It looked pretty good - movie-caliber at times, even - and the characters are somewhat diverse and very likeable. I'm not sure if it's something you'd go for, but it might be worth a shot.

Kancolle and Shirobako and Aldnoah.Zero are the only Winter 2015 shows I'm following so far. So I'll definitely keep Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata in mind. I looked it up on Wiki, and it sounds more interesting than most LN adaptations are.

Yeah it's been certain for me for a few days actually. All reports around here were that the deal was already done by Saturday night and they were just waiting to officially announce it. I was already pretty convinced it was happening as early as Friday, when there was suddenly a ton of talk about him all over radio stations and websites when previously there had been none.

I'm actually pretty happy about it. He didn't have the greatest record but he's still highly regarded, seems to be very popular with players, and most importantly has head coaching experience. We FINALLY went for experience instead of just going for a mediocre coordinator or college coach nobody has ever heard of, like we have for the last....damn, I don't even remember anymore. Plus I always find it amusing when former serious rivals switch over to "our side".

I've heard the Roman thing is all but assured at this point as well. Don't know much about him but I do know that this season's coordinator Hackett is among the most hated men in Buffalo, with many people blaming him for absolutely everything wrong with the offense, so I don't think many people are going to complain about this. There were reports that Hackett had been held back by Marrone which I believe are at least partially true but you can't tell rabid fans who are out for scapegoat blood anything.

Only thing I am worried about is that I think we are probably gonna lose Schwartz, as he runs a different style defense and seems to be unhappy about this hiring. I just hope the adjustments Ryan makes will keep our D as effective as it was this season.
