That shouldn't happen unless you've been banned or a similar restriction has been placed on your account. I can't see such a restriction so it could be a problem with the forum itself. Please report the problem using the support forum, visitor messages isn't the best place to deal with the issue. You'll need to describe what you were doing ("I clicked on this, typed that, pressed the 'save' button, etc.") and what you were trying to achieve ("I was trying to update my birthday"). Also let us know when this happened so we can check logs and such like.

To do that you will need to update your profile so that the forum knows your birthday and that you give permission for it to be shown:
