    Well, mine never come out the way I planned (mostly). I assume you used google for GIMP tutorials, as there are a lot of GIMP-focused websites out there, designed to help you (I can imagine.)

    Heh, thanks. I'm not a fan of it myself, but I have hard to work with whole images. It got a bit too amateurish for my taste, but I only follow the request.

    Yes, Photoshop CS3. Been trying to get a hold of CS4 but torrents are still low quality as far as I can see. Adobe Illustrator is something I also want to learn since it's a whole other system with vectors, making better quality and resizable stuff.

    hmm...sleek. I like the sound of it. I always try for simple/Web 2.0 style, although at times I'm in a messy mood. Abstract is my "specialty" at this moment.

    You could zoom in even closer to get even greater detail, but that's even more time-consuming.

    I just saw your question at E_R and just had to respond
    I've done some myself, but stopped after a while. All that it takes is training, training, training, training...and oh yes, training.
    Pen tool + eraser + wand + various marquee tools are what usually is used, and is what I use mostly myself.
    Also, it's very time consuming, as I'm sure you have noticed.
