Hmm... just wondering if you're still on the Shigatsu fantrain or if you hopped off it. Seems like a lot of the "critics" and "bloggers" have dismissed it as mediocre or hit and miss at this point in the way they seem to portray bullying and peer-pressure as a way to deal with trauma. Then again, this is a shonen anime and the fact that the kids are 14, I for some reason are willing to give it slack and eat up the juicy drama (and I'm enjoying the hell out of it).

Maybe I should have had this kind of attitude for something like Nagi no Asu Kara

Chitanda is an unusual blend of elements. She's a long-haired dark-haired full bodied beauty, and she has some Yamato Nadeshiko to her. However, she also has a touch of genki "airhead moe" to her, which is very rare for this sort of character design. She's almost like a cross between K-On's Mio and Yui, which is highly unusual. Still, while she seems a bit airheaded at times, she also can be very perceptive. Given her borderline silly degree of "I'm curious!", she could at times surprise me by being very intuitively strong and perceptive on some things.

And, of course, KyoAni deserves some credit here for the big brilliant eyes that double as a purple pool of sparkling water.

I've found that the minimum acceptable memory space is about 768M to 1G if you include a swap partition or swap file. As for disk space, I think 10 G is about the minimum you can assign to a decent Linux distribution like Ubuntu these days. That would leave about 5-6 G for your files.

I use VirtualBox for VMs because it's really easy to install and manage. If you use it, make sure to include the "extension pack" as well.

To be fair to you, Itsuki is adorable. Her magical girl transformation scene is out of this world "Squee!" worthy, lol. Much like Togo, it's easy to see what character type Itsuki is, and she also plays that character type marvelously well.

I'm also glad that Fuu and Itsuki are sisters. They have a great "big responsible protective sister/perky little sister that wants to make her big sister proud" dynamic going on. It feels very "Anime" but it also feels very true-to-life. Like this is how many RL siblings actually are.

As for Togo, I don't recall you being particularly fond of Homura or Fate or "Dark Magical Girls" in general, so I didn't think you'd be that fond of Togo. Togo is basically a Dark Magical Girl in her appearance, personality, and style; she just happens to start as a protagonist. That being said, Togo is a little bit close to Eru and Matsuri (in appearance, if nothing else), so I can see why your brother guessed that you'd like her most.

Yuna is a good guess, but this is that very rare occasion where I prefer a character other than the most naturally heroic/bubbly one. Yuna's character type is probably my favorite anime character type, but she's fairly standard for that type (so yeah, I like her a lot, but she doesn't stand out hugely for me). Togo's character type (think Homura/Fate Testarossa) isn't my favorite one, but Togo captures it marvelously well. So a bit surprisingly, Togo is my favorite Yuki Yuna character so far (Yuna is a close second).

It's tricky to guess who's your favorite Yuki Yuna character is. There's nobody quite like Holo or Eru Chitanda or Matsuri here. Hhhmm... just going on your fondness for lolis, I'll guess that Itsuki is your favorite.

Btw ... I saw the currently viewing list on RRR's wall ... good taste! (Except for Psycho Pass 2, which you can generously have my allotted portion of while I will have your deposit of Inou Battle! Hmph!)

Thing I liked best was you mentioning Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai in your top tier list. I have really come to enjoy the series, actually. It is a shame it is not getting more attention, but it seems a sort of low key, quiet show that is a bit of a hidden gem, perhaps.

I usually go on Amazon jp these days. Talking about Amazon JP I pre-ordered the Tari Tari bluray box about 2 months ago. Totally not a PA Works fag ...

As for your melodrama point, most of the time it doesn't work but there are some that just click with me and are exceptions. Ef is definitely one, as was White Album 2 from last year. This year it's Shigatsu.

I saw your tier list on RRR's wall. Mine is on my about me page if you are interested.

I think the only Fall 2014 show I'm watching that you're not is Selector-Spread WIXOSS. And, well, that's a sequel. And I'm pretty sure you watched some of the original, and didn't like it much.

Selector-Spread WIXOSS has been pretty good so far, though Okada melodrama is in full force for this one, so be warned.

My own tiers are similar to yours, except you're watching a few more shows than I am so far, I don't like Trinity Seven quite as much as you do, and I like both Shirabako and Amagi Brilliant Park a bit more than you do (Shirabako would be Tier 1 for me, and Amagi Brilliant Park would be Tier 2 or 3 for me).

It's been a very deep Fall Season. No one lone show has totally blown me away (Yuki Yuna comes close, but it's just a wee bit too much on the conservative side so far for me to downright blown away by it), but I've found myself really liking a lot of shows.

I probably have a 3-day weekend coming up soon, and I might get around to sampling more shows then. If I do, I'll keep you posted.

Btw I can't believe you're not enjoying shirobako that much. In terms of fun and humor this is the best thing PAW has done and is definitely the best series they've made since uchouten kazoku and tari tari.
