Yeah, sequels are probably making it really hard for brand new shows to sell this Fall 2013 season.

As for Mirai, I've honestly almost forgotten about her initial klutziness. That hasn't come up much at all since Episode 1. I now like the female characters in KnK (I had liked Mitsuki for a long time) so there is still potential there for me to like the show.

By the way, I'm also watching White Album 2, but it's one of those shows that's "Excellent watch, but it doesn't leave me a lot to talk about". I just find it very solid with a nicely unpredictable love triangle. Of the three girls, I probably like Touma the best. Kuuderes aren't always my very favorite character in a show, but I almost always like them at least.

Finally, I hope you do well in your courses. If I don't see you much in mid-to-late November, at least I'll remain hopeful that you'll be here a fair bit around the holiday season. I hope it's a nice one for you and your girlfriend.

I agree that HSI3 was worse than KnK6. And yeah, Jiromaru's actions in that episode being worse than anything in KnK is a big part of the reason why.

The main reason I raised the comparison is that I haven't seen viewers so polarized over an anime episode since HSI3, which also happened to be a gag episode (so that fitted Obelisk's argument). It seems to be split almost straight down the middle between people who loved KnK6 and people who hated it, at least here on Anime Suki (I counted at least 6 or 7 different people on each "side").

Just so you know, I'm giving KnK at least one more episode. If I like 7, if I feel that it does a good job of handling the conflict between Mirai and Sakura, I'll probably stick with it and I might end up liking it overall.

One thing I will say is that, oddly enough, I do find myself liking Mirai a bit more. Ironically, I found her much cuter without her glasses than with them. There are also some elements to her personality that I find charming/amusing.

I don't know if you've still been following White Album 2, but I'm at a point where I am totally infatuated with the series and if it keeps up it's going to make up my all time favourite list. I think I've been deprived of good romances on the TV side of things for too long

Thanks for the VM reply. Yeah, your other 2 examples were fine.

When it comes to why there isn't more clear-cut yuri in anime, I think it's probably due mostly to how anime favors romantic teasing, or early-stages romance, in general. I think there's something about the earliest beginnings of a romance, or the first time somebody experiences a crush, that resonates a lot with otakus. This is true of het, as well as yuri, I think.

I replied to this on the thread itself, hoping that you might clarify what you wrote, or something like that, but since you didn't...

I'm asking seriously this time - Do you really think that Madoka Magica and Saki don't have intense drama?

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

I have to say that was kind of cute.

Edit: Also, eighth Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA is subbed. And apparently a second season is slated for January. I have to say I'm a bit surprised as I'd always kind of assumed the reason we got so many OVAs was in lieu of a new series. I actually think I'm going to prefer it this way though - I feel like some of the show's running gags lost some of their charm with the wait between the OVAs.
bloody hell, I'm 4 behind on the OVAs, didn't realize it. Oh, that's sweet to hear about a second season though. I somehow doubt anyone will ever actually move into romance (eternally frozen in the current to milk the gags) but the show's rough humor continues to amuse me.

Yeah, I really like where Tokyo Ravens is going with the reverse trap element. Oddly enough, I can't recall that many anime where a major female character had a crush on another major female character who she thought was male.

    There was Sailor Moon, and...

Thanks for sharing that video as well. Great singing performance there.

Ok scratch what I said about Noucome. Bad drama is coming by the dozen now and the missions seem like it's a TWGOK ripoff. Dropped.

WTB good moe anime plz ffs.

EDIT: Fuck it, I'm rewatching Tari Tari.

Oh I'm a HUGE fan of Baby Metal ... spotted them a couple of years ago when the two younger sisters were about half that height. They're growing into the metal, so to speak. I kind of had them in my head when Blar coins the term "feminine metal" at one point.

This is the first tune I ever saw by them (beware, lethal cute): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cirhQ8iLdbw

I hadn't seen this one until just now (live concert):

    Talk about worshiping goddesses ...

I plan to have the band kicked out of an onsen in Hokkaido over tattoos. I may have them encounter the "older person" who refuses to believe a white person can speak Japanese and asserts it is all gibberish. You're right though -- opportunities abound for foot-in-mouth moments.

One of my wife's coworkers is a drummer (at night) and he did a Japan Tour a few years ago. We keep trying to meet for dinner so I can tweeze anecdotes out of him, but he keeps vanishing on other tours (just got back from Paris).

I have to admit ... setting up all the social media connections and getting the sales and marketing rolling has eaten into creative time a lot. I don't want to just throw shit out on the thread or a "filler" so I'm holding off rather than just churning something out to get them to Hokkaido.

I have discovered a major oops. I should have sent them to the Fuji Festival rather than the Hokkaido festival. I got the two mixed up in my head. The Hokkaido festival is "Japanese bands only". The Fuji one is international. I won't mess with it for the rough draft but it will have to be fixed in the rewrite.

So I watched 3 eps of Noukome. Rofl. I don't think I've laughed at something so stupid idea of a premise (yet somewhat clever... in a trashy light novel way) in a while .

Except the tryhard drama parts... those are just bad.
