I'll take a look at yWriter. I tried Scrivener last week, supposedly designed for writing Novels but to me it seems quite clunky so far (plus it isn't meant for final formatting).

Still using openoffice but it kind of sucks for doing global operations. I like to store chapters as individual files. Not really any "grep" type tools, etc. It does export a nice PDF-A file. Also, when inserting files (to merge into a book), the formatting often blows up.

Yeah, chap 16 is a little bit of a breather chapter - mainly looking for negative comment, silence is fine if you like it Class comes first.

I've been hammering on volume 1 (won't quite stay finished) but I really think it's about done (got a pile of edits and suggestions from my editor a few days ago).

A combination of all of the above is what tipped me off .

As for Chinami, my dislike of her has nothing to do with her height or bubliness but the fact she seems quite derp.

I find it kind of fascinating to watch my thread hits sail up even when I'm late posting a chapter. I've been really focusing on edits this week (vol 1 and 2). My editor dumped a pile of them on me. Grammar consistency, ideas for continuity flow, expanded dialog, jokes, deleting or reshaping flow breakers.

I see you're buried in classwork. Tally Ho!

So from your various past posts and discussions, I see that you are quite an enthusiast when it comes to character heights

Your take on Hikari is interesting, and you may well be right. At the very least, I agree that he is open to multiple interpretations.

Part of the reason why I'm inclined to think he's a little bit sexist is because the xenophobia is already clearly there. And it's been my experience in life that if a person has one type of prejudice, it's likely they'll hold other types of prejudice as well.

My first comment on Hikari right after watching Episode 3 was that Okada is going full Archie Bunker with him, which admittedly was colorful exaggeration on my part. But I really am afraid that he's coming close to crossing the line from being on the road to a good redemption story to being someone that many people might find incredibly hard to forgive.

I think Okada is trying very hard to write a compelling personal redemption story with Hikari, and for that type of story it admittedly does help if the "destined to be redeemed" character stats out at a pretty low point. After Episode 2, I felt that Okada had completely nailed it with Hikari. After Episode 3, I'm wavering between completely nailed it and "she went a bit too far". Only time will tell, of course.

I'm absolutely loving Hozuki. Best kid character I've seen in anime in awhile. It's like someone took the best aspects of a Disney kid character and the best aspects of the anime loli, and threw them altogether to create something wondrous that has all the strengths of both character types but almost none of their weaknesses. Wonderful character!

I also agree with you on Yaya's character design, which helps to explain why I'm able to roll with her clingy personality.

Chinami is pretty fun. She has this effervescent quality to her. Combine that with her thoughtfulness and eagerness to please, and she makes a very engaging character.

I don't have a strong opinion yet on the other girls on your list, but I could see some of them growing on me over time.

Don't worry, I'm going to sleep on your post. It's worth reflecting on.

I'll be honest - More than anything, I'm just pissed that KyoAni felt it was necessary to change Mirai the way they did. I feel like certain tropes and character elements are getting overplayed in anime lately, to the relative exclusion of others. Anyway, I'll leave it at that for now.

Thanks for being through-provoking as usual.

Do you really not get why anime Mirai is taking a lot of heat? It's because LN Mirai sounds way better to most of us!

There hasn't been a major KyoAni female character quite like Yuki Nagato since, well, Yuki Nagato herself. Some of us would prefer a character like that over yet another shy, timid, wants to be decisive but struggling with it girl. You do realize just how commonplace Mirai's character type is in anime right?

Yuki Nagato's character type is significantly rarer. That's probably part of the reason why characters like Yuki Nagato (Kanade, Eu, etc...) and Yuki Nagato herself tend to kick ass so much in moe competitions.
