Err...I actually thought the Elementary, Junior High and High School system was the norm for everywhere in the world. Derp. I thought it was different though because their school years were scheduled differently than ours and there were many other regulations that didn't apply to us in North America like school uniforms.

Things like history and government workings was never area where I've had that large of an interest so it's not my strongest subject. I mean I remember that Japan was Axis and America were Allies so they fought against each other in WWII with such well known incidents like Pearl Harbour and the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs. I just don't remember what exactly caused the Japanese to turn to America for aid after their country began to decline.

    *Kicks C-kun*

And there's the answer to your previous question

Lol, look at me and my ignorance of other cultures. So Japan's actually closer to North Americans since they follow the American System huh? Well consider me baffled. I've learned quite a bit through anime and the internet about Japan but I never knew that.

Ooooooooh, I see. I think the perfect western term for a chunnibyou judging from those points then would be a "hipster". It's a slang term for those who think being different and liking different things is cool and like rubbing it in everyone else's face. Though it's a more general term and can refer to anyone of any age, not just middle-schoolers.

Anywho, I suppose at this point I guess I'll just need to try the show. Honestly I'm not quite satisfied yet but I was told that it's possibly even funnier than Azumanga Daioh. I do wonder if that's true.

If A-tan and C-kun were alcoholic drinks, what kind of cocktail could they make together?

Well from what I remember though you live in Singapore right? That's much closer to Japan in language AND cultural aspects no? Not exactly the same yes, but closer than...well...Canada.

I've been absorbed in North American media for a very long time, I tend to find humour based around things I have knowledge of and speech I'd find familiar much more endearing and easier to find funny. More often than I would like, Japanese comedy just keeps me scratching my head. That's mostly what I'm talking about.

And I've looked up what a chunnibyou is. I guess a good English parallel would be something like a "schoolkid role-player" right? Only they delude themselves to believe they're actually what they're role-playing.

Well that's a better answer than the one I got before. Thank you. Last fellow told me because it was "made by KyoAni" and " it's cute" and "well animated". That didn't change anything.

I guess I'll be more specific this time, do you think the humour in the show is something that would be much easier for a foreigner like myself to understand and find funny? Or is a large amount of it very Japanese-ish?

(And lol, from what I've seen around here it's not like I was expecting such a show to be "dark" in the first place. That'd be rather silly. )

The sarcasm is strong with this one.~

No no, why should someone like me watch it?

(FYI I just watched the ED on Youtube and no, I didn't like it. )

Alright try number 2. I didn't get a satisfactory answer from the last person I asked so I'm trying again. Since you have a signature related to it, I want to ask you one very simple question:

Give me one good reason why a person like me should try watching Chunnibyou?

It's popularity confuses and intrigues me at the same time.

That's it, I'm officially quitting from now. Bye.
