I did fancy keeping it altogether though... as the short I'm working on, an extended version of Mahora Academy Prepares For Battle, shows.

To me, I don't see anything wrong about Kouya, or the Shodau'n'va, especially in this latest incarnation. The only thing technologically "advanced" is their use of heavy infantry for their veteran wolves and the Air caste that pilot a variety of original and modified airfishes, and both are already a part of canon. But again, like with the newer OCs, all the complaints were directed at the small things: boy in the class of 3-A, the names of the caste, how come they have so much tech, they are too numerous a force...

Too numerous? Which part of almost extinct did they miss? I would've resisted their demands, but up until yesterday, I've been alone in this effort...

As long as they aren't interested in the world except beyond armchair criticisms, I'll be keeping it together in the end.

I too hate that, but somehow Keroko made me see how fun it could be.

I guess just keep it separate then, Kouya for my own fun and those who are interested. All those arcs that center on the wolves were designed to have minimal impact on the progression of the story and the screen time of the main cast at large. Negi's party will always have the main focus, just that while things are happening, the world moves, and the wolves are part of that world.

It's a very big balancing act, but at least I think I was handling right, except under the scrutiny of purists...

Wait don't tell me you actually liked Kouya?! All I got were earfuls, whines and wails from kct, Tempy and Nyan that I had to do some patching or I'd kill the thread before it even began...

I did intend Kouya and the Shodau'n'va to be the main force in the manga, but the IRC cries were deafening so I made some political spin while creating Ryouichi and Ringo, who were supposed to be part of the manga insert too.........

Also, I've made 2 OCs that are proper for the setting and distinguished between Kouya, who exists in the convoluted anime + Kerokanon timeline, and this new guy Ryouichi who will be featuring in the manga instead. Please review! ^w^
