Of those four, I've watched Tokyo Ghoul and Glasslip. Both shows have very good Direction to them. They're both very visually compelling to me - Glasslip is prettier, but Tokyo Ghoul probably has the more impressive Storyboarding.

Of the two, I'll probably end up prefering Glasslip for personal taste reasons, as I'm Ok with some supernatural horror, but it's not really my favorite genre. For people who like supernatural horror, though, Tokyo Ghoul does look top-rate.

I was thinking about watching Zankyou no Terror, but I haven't tried it yet. How did you find it?

As for WIXOSS, I thought it really picked up nicely in the 2nd half, with the last few episodes being very strong. If you tend to like shows like Madoka Magica, Mai HiME, and Higurashi, then you'll probably like WIXOSS.

How bar along are you with GoT - all the way?

I'd be very curious to hear your take on the first two eps of Barakamon...

Are you still watching Gaworare? I'm curious to hear what you think of the adaptation now.

Hey! To be clear, I did actually think the flying penguin was genuinely awesome, even if they did clearly mess up that image. So while I was joking a bit, I am actually really looking forward to checking that show out, since it instated me before

So I've been thinking a bit recently about how I like to watch the occassional trashy harem show, and I got thinking about how some people complain harem shows never really follow through on their premise (ie. the guy ends up choosing one girl or there's no sex or whatever).

And it occured to me that maybe the reason for that is becuase most writers and fans of the genre tend to approach it in a tongue in cheek manner: the premise isn't treated that seriously because nobody involved takes the fantasy itself that seriously. In contrast to romance anime about couples, which many of the same fans do take seriously.

It kind of reminds me of a blog post I read where one guy said that he tended to like eroge about "bright colours, happy school days, predictable and yet amusing situations, one nice guy being dragged around by lots of cute girls"... as opposed to, you know, actual ero content. I'm not opposed to some ero, but I feel that he captured the mindset of me and perhaps an awful lot of other fans as well.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

I hadn't even heard TBH, which supports my suspicion that this is a bigger controversy in the West. As does the fact that the criticism I see seems to be coming from all Westerners.

    I did find this...

Well so far, the mix is working for me. Insanity can be fine if you're all-in committed to it.
