Yikes... Could not disagree more on Lupin. I thought that was soul-crushingly awful. Terrible.

Hmmm, must have forgotten to add a few to that list. Let's see, TRC, the frst .hack series come to mind as one I got all the way through, plus a few others dropped. It's not one of my favorite studios, but given the right material they're OK. And HM is excellent.

Thanks for the heads up. Some rather ... interesting bit:

Something interesting about "KUSO ONNA" (= smelly wench):
Mari has been called that a lot when she was writing the scenario, she liked it, and so they decided to make Kagura say it in the actual show
What the ... I'm left to wonder if this is evidence to just how insane things are over at Satelight or if this is the best example of how far out and kinky Okada really is

Who said that was my first Bee Train? I've watched several, even liked one or two.

Funnily enough, I've never seen Phantom. Worth it?

I would think the writer normally has very little influence on casting, but Urobuchi is such a big name now that he could be an exception.

Replying a big later than usual because I've been binge-playing Dragon Age: Awakening...

I know what you mean about the elegance factor with Mami. But to me, that's not quite it. Irisviel in Fate/Zero is very elegant but it doesn't make her moe the way Mami is. And in Mami's case, I feel that the elegance is part of her "charm", which is the factor I tend to see as linking these characters together.

Your comment on sempai moe got me thinking, and I think I hit on something. For me, an "older" moe character - be it a simple "sempai" like Mami or Sora no Woto's Felicia, someone like HSI's Tomoe or Sola's Matsuri, or even MILFs like Akiko and Sanae in Kanon and Clannad - is usually moe because she has some girl-ish mannerisms that contrast with her age or rank. So it's not just general "charm", but a specific type of charm.

Edit: Come to think of it Charlotte Dunois from Infinite Stratos gets her moe from having a certain level of refinement and charm as well and she's not a sempai character so perhaps it really can be boiled down to elegance/charm. "Refined but with a bit of zest?"

In the interest of completeness should probably try and identify the exact moe points of tsunderes and yanderes too but I'm not going to attempt it right now, too late at night.

What amazes me is how pissed people get when I delete spoilers! Why do they cling so fiercely to the privilege of ruining a show for others?

Sorry about that - I'll delete and post warnings.
