I stopped watching it at about ep 14 cause it got boring lol. Aquarion EVOL > all other guilty pleasure shows atm .

On a related note, Guilty Crown has turned absolutely terrible in the last 4 or so episodes...

I saw that, and I think it's pretty credible. They gave Yuki the award for the wrong show, but I have no issues with Hirata Hiroaki winning for T & B - that was one of the best performances of the year.

Hmmm... I think my biggest issue with the ending was just that I was really unimpressed with the twists regarding Nessa and Phryne, and it's not clear from that whose idea that was. I had kind of assumed Okada since I hadn't been impressed with the way Zakuro's last (anime original, I believe) arc played out either despite loving that show in general and hence thought climactic end scenes might not be a strong point.

BTW, when my brother (who you know on the otherboard) and I watched the original Last Exile about two months back, there were a number of exchanges that went along the lines of this:

Me: "Hmmm, she sounds a bit different but Kana Hanazawa's voice was pretty distinct even at fourteen."
Him: "She has like two lines."

    Repeat with variations.

Most manga stocked here are shounen, yaoi and seinen - because that's what the females read while the guys are mainly shounen. And I've never seen Liar Game stocked locally. My recent manga purchases have been confined to Kimi ni Todoke, Arisa and Vampire Cheerleaders.

That would be because mangas are the hardest things for me to find. And because I've had a real burnout on manga larely. I'm utterly sick of modern manga and most suggestions I'm given have hardly been better. I'm also a bit of a paper romantic. I get a better feeling seeing it on paper than on a computer screen.

I don't care what other people in consensus think of One Outs. I watched it for the mind games and Tokuchi's awesome persona. I generally despise anime males. Tokuchi is one of only about eight that I like and only one of three I would class as cool. And because his theme music would be in my top 5 anime music pieces ever, easily. I hear this piece, I stop whatever I'm doing, become strangely calm whatever my mood is and a rare smile will form upon my face.

Seeing what you said on fox's wall, I'm even more creeped out by Mari Okada whebn I thought it wasn't possible to be. I might need a restraining order on the chance her and I ever cross paths.

You know... I never watched more than 2 episodes of Fractal. However, I think this may be a good thing

On a related note, I created a new topic on the Mari Okada club thread. I think you will like this one

well, that's good thing though. but that won't still make me watch it, finally knowing how everything would end. =)

The whole fractale production was a huge mess,Okada is credited as scriptwriter (and indeed some of her trademarks made it in) but a lot of it is in fact Yamakan and the ending is 100% Yamakan.
Really? I didn't realize the ending was Yamakan's idea - that's the part where the anime really lost it for me. I'm still not sure what he was attempting to do... the priest character worked better when he was just a blatant stand in for the lunatic fringe of the Kannagi fanbase.

Can't say that I was totally impressed with Okada's performance either - Enri's ecchi flopped with me - although I actually hold that Clain in a dress is the most moe thing in the entire show - I like KanaHana but Nessa was just too much of a moeblob. Actually in light of Yamakan's stance on how the industry is too heavily invested in moe, I felt a little bit insulted, if you're going to include it anyway after a statement like that put in a bit of effort. Course, I come from the crowd that wants moe to get more sophisticated rather than go away, which is part of the reason why I'm such a huge Ohana fan.

(Course, people might interpret the increased sophistication as "less moe" anyway - I recently observed Ohana reminds me more of Lavie in Last Exile than the major characters in the new Last Exile do and I think we know which one is considered "stereotypically" moe.)

She weirds me out though. I stopped watching Hana-Saku Iroha because of that stupid bondage think she pulled in Ep3. I think there's hints towards her hatred of Yamakan in it too. AnoHana, way too much to rant about in the 10 minutes I've reached before rage quitting every time.

I did understand Liar Game was rather altered in parts in the adaptation. I'm well aware of Yokoya's role/persona being altered. I did get the feeling Fukunaga was more twisted in the manga. I did feel Nao's development is somewhat underdone in the adaptation.

That said...I love this show. Akiyama is freaking FABULOUS, smart as heck and acted with precision and grace. Nao is another good acting choice. Fukunaga - he may seem comical to you. Not to me - he is amusing but I have always thought of him and sinister and quite a devil. And let's be frank - cross-dressing may work in anime but in live action? Not going to happen. Japan is still a conservative society and then some. Katsuragi was very good at being the kniving, twisted, tyrannical bitch. Goldtooth was an amusing sideshow. Black Cat was very good at being the silent helper. I loved the music and how it mixed with the use of neon lights, distorted colours, repetition of certain moments - how the locations were somewhat stylish yet chaotic and foreboding. The manga may be better - but as far as live-action goes, this is one of the better ones going around by a long shot.

On a final note, I think they went live-action due to One Outs not succeeding as an anime. I liked One Outs but most people I know - who happen to dig Kaiji and Akagi - just didn't get into One Outs. Baseball seems to polarise people very quickly.

Sorry, I knew you were watching MP, we've discussed it. Brain freeze.

Yes, fight the urge. Don't want spoilers. As for Haruka, I just finished watching Ano Natsu and damn, she's good - amazing is a better word. She's as good at disappearing into a character as anyone in the business.
