It's a game art shot. I couldn't possibly pick something from the anime. The anime character art for Persona 4 was a disgrace. Yet the game is so darn good. And yeah, you know I love spunky girls with a good personality. Chie is very much a personification of the Chariot card - driven, strong and supportive - but also has the qualities of the reverse form of the Chariot, being dominance and jealousy. When things get rather grim and confronting late in the piece, Chie remained the most moral and calm, not to mention her random hunches became pretty darn accurate. I think Chie feels a bit meager in comparison at times because Yukiko is what she considers the epitome of beauty and elegance and that Rise is pretty much cute centralm aka the guys want them but not her. When you expand her social link, the depth of morality and support of the weak Chie displays, even at times of near-fatal risks, is pretty compelling. The tomboy aspect of her is an interesting one and works into her skill set in the game - early game her ice moves are better, mid game she's kind of weak but late game...her physical moves get insanely strong. There are a lot of mob or boss fights Chie can match the damage of the other three team members single-handedly. And I love that green jumper of hers - green has always been my favourite colour but I've found it very mis-used in anime and games. Just everything about Chie's design and persona appeals to me. Yukiko and Rise are nice too but Chie is definitely my fave.

Check your PMs for Crest of the Stars and a nice surprise.

You're the second person I've had peg episode three as the point where the show starts to get great - I personally place it a bit earlier, with the scene in episode 2 where Mashiro wants Sorata to model nude for her.

...No seriously. In addition to being a kind of fun reversal of the norm for a fanservice scene (normally it's the girl who ends up in the compromising position in a scene like this), it's the moment where I first really grasped how Mashiro's artistic ambition and socially ineptness are related, and hence got a sense of what made her tick as a character. And no, I don't think it was just that I was on the lookout for stuff like this to vindicate my position that the outrage at the show's premise was unwarranted - or at very least blind to the tongue in cheek nature of the show's audacity.

Just to clarify one more thing - I'd prefer it if people would have deeper reasoning or thought. But simple emotions are easier to market and that is what will prevail commercially. I've long given up on idealism within this medium or any other.

    Hello Ryan!
Thank you for the friend request! I humbly accept!
I'm one of those people who don't like it when there's one person whose thoughts or ideas are being trampled or ignored by a majority, simply because it's contrary to their train of thought! So I rallied to Dr. Casey's aid and brought reinforcements, namely GundamFan0083! He's a bit more up on the political front than I, and I usually find you one word or phrase that they say too trip them up with.
Glad to hear your still into Star Trek!!^-^!! I'm a long time fan of both the original series, some of TNG and LOVED DS9! If it weren't for Babylon 5, DS9 would be my all time favorite!
Also I loved the movies with the original cast! The later ones were good don't get wrong, 'First Contact' and 'Nemisis" were great!! But 'Generations'? What were they thinking?!
And I still look for marathons on the weekend on satellite TV and watch till my eyes burn out! Speaking of which, IFC channel has been playing the movies (all of them!) this month!!
The last movie was OUTSTANDING!! They nailed the characters (except for maybe Uhura) perfectly, I loved Chekov, he couldn't be more Russian if he tried!! Simon Peg as Scotty was marvelous and both young Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are spot on!! I hope if they do another movie they redo the episode called "The Menagerie" or "The Cage"! That would be EPIC!!
It's nice to meet you Ryan, I do hope we get a chance to really talk Trek or anime!! Linda

Apologies again, I shouldn't have been harsh like that. Been driven mad by that, some IRL friends talking about Bakemonogatari too much, my annoyingly anti-social tennant, learning that the Persona 4 game was good yet freaking Seiji Kishi made such a terrible andunrepresentative adaptation. And my insomnia is getting worse. But yeah, no excuse. My mum would have gone berserk if I was like that to her.

Well there is the parody of superhero culture and all. But without the fujioshi factor it wouldn't have been a big seller was more the point.

Sorry for writing that in a confrontational sense. I've had an incredibly painful toothache all week and have had next to no sleep. Wasn't what I intended. And that show gave me some bad times with local fuijoshis so bad memories of it...Only positive thing I can think of it is that Kevin Rudd lookalike. Show gives me the creeps.

Was also ticked off because of the popularity poll context. Madman used a poll to decide which shows to permanently reduce the cost of - and they were all generic shounen and fujioshi titles. So yeah...I'm bitter at present...

Hi! Noticed you been dropping by, so I thought I'd return the favor and introduce myself.
I'm Linda, aka Lost Cause, nice to meet you!
I see you used to be a Star Trek fan. Do you still watch any of it? What did you think of the last movie? Linda

I'm sticking around with it, but really only because I'm this far in. I agree that it's definitely going downhill since the latter half hit.

Even aside from the Kirito bit, everyone else is easy to read too. I've also been noticing a strange attraction to lighter fanservice ever since Suguha came along.

Another bit that's bothering me is...isn't Asuna set to marry the bastard in a week, putting a strict time limit on Kirito? However, he still just marches about at a snail's pace, taking detours, allowing himself and Lyfa to log out for breaks, etc.

I'd really like to make the argument that she's completely ensnared in this world's rules, but I honestly can't back that up. She pretty much has become a damsel in distress, but at least there are hints she might try something. Betting on Kirito to save her in the end though.

It's just a series I don't mind, but I feel disheartened that it's lost so much steam over its course. It's even more painful to me because I really got into the entire buildup to SAO's release over at Anime Expo- my first expo ever. Witnessing the newest PV live and hearing the full version of "Crossing Field" live before the rest of the world- I was pumped. I just hope it can build back a strong finish, even for one episode. It NEEDS to top the SAO arc ending, or it just won't survive.

P.S. Unrelated note, but I'm getting my first snow of the year over here! Oh, I do love winter and Christmas. :3

That's because it is Kirito from SAO.

"Give credit where it's due", right? :3

I've been keeping myself quite busy, and in my books that's doing well. Thanks for asking.

I'm watching quite a bit of stuff myself this season; it's a huge upgrade from how much I usually watch. Little Busters, Shin Sekai Yori, K and Robotics;Notes are the series I'm just starting to invest myself a lot into, while Psycho-Pass, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and Chuunibyou gripped me from the very start. As for Hayate no Gotoku and Sword Art Online, I feel as if they're kind of lingering around and I'm not exactly sure what to think yet. I'm invested already into SAO though, so it's just Hayate I'm not sure of.

Yeah, I've noticed that the 7-episode rule kind of enforces me to finish a single-cour series, since I'm already mostly through it by that point. However, that rule spans from K-ON's first season which was a single-cour series. I particularly struggled through Kill Me Baby because of this, but I did finish it. I wasn't exactly a fan of that series.

I'm thankful for those words, really. I grew up in my earlier years being heavily bullied and judged, so I think being a non-violent person, my mind adapted it by saying I shouldn't be judgmental and appreciate things instead. With Kanon 2002, I think it's fair for me to say that aesthetically and constructively, 2006 IS better, I will admit that. However, it is the first series I ever watched in Japanese and what pulled me into the anime fandom, so I must say it's a heavily biased decision for me. Just for when I want to introduce Kanon to new people though, I keep both on hand.

I agree. For me, the seiyuu have a talent that defines the atmosphere of a series and gives the characters much more depth and personality. There are some dubs that are good for sure, and I don't mind people liking them over subs. However, I did manage to shift someone from dubs to subs recently and that's pretty miraculous here in Canada.
