Well, look on the bright side: it's more incentive to buy the DVD version! Definitely more money for the industr--

Ah who am I kidding. You have to actively try to fail at pandering, but in defense of the show (not that I'd ever watch it), was the censoring warranted or was it just panty shots and the like?

Also, you still following Rinne no Lagrange?

Hmm, I'm a bit surprised to know that you watched Saki after Madoka. Then again, I also watched it rather late myself, back in late 2010, a short while before Madoka started airing for Winter 2010 Season.

I actually liked Saki. I enjoyed it more than I expected to for a show about a game that I knew very little about (at the time). Its fusion of sports tournament with moe was something that I found rather unusual, and its cast of characters turned out to be mostly interesting for me, at least. The yuri subtext wasn't bad, either. Building up on the brush with yuri that I had from Touhou, Saki helped prepare me for the coming of my chosen OTP from Madoka★Magica.

The flashy "hax" mahjong hands the characters won the games with sparked my interest in the game to the point that after I finished watching, I read up on the rules of riichi mahjong and even found a riichi mahjong game program to play for a while (Saikyo no Mahjong 3D). Heck, even now I have a Saki riichi mahjong app on my Android phone, even though I don't really play all that often anymore.

I credit Saimoe for getting me interested in Saki. Its strong performance in the tournament for 2 years made me really curious about its appeal to the Saimoe voters (the same goes for my having watched all of Rozen Maiden and all of Nanoha). For the most part, it did not disappoint me except for the fact that it ended with a "this is only the beginning" feeling. Like an evil cliffhanger. Where is my season two!?

Actually I was talking about Pekka Rinne

And yeah if most of this team isn't gone by the end of the year I'll be extremely surprised and expect to see Gauthier's head on a pike somewhere on the Champlain as it finally collapses into rubble at long last.

At this rate unfortunately the Habs have one NHL capable line and of course it's the Cole/Pacioretty/Desharnais one. They're the only line that is capable of doing really anything while the others are basically forced to try to do there best to make sure that the other team doesn't score while they are out, which unfortunately still seems to tall a task. To be honest I'd have a hard time seeing the Habs even competing with some of the better AHL teams.

And yet the bottom 3 forward lines are probably still better than what passes for a defense. Realistically only 2 of the defensemen on the team have any business playing in the NHL, but I guess it's fortunate that one of them just got a much needed contract extension.

The problem is how do you fix this. That's maybe like 6 players that are ready to make the journey to the next year with the Habs. How do you fill like 15 roster spots in the span of one summer? Personally I don't think it's possible and this is a team that is going to have to be rebuilt piece by piece over the course of the next several years and sadly by that time most of the players that are any good right now will probably be gone or in the waning years of their careers. So yeah really going to take a miracle to get this team to be competitive again any time this decade.

Yeah well too bad they still lose every other game. Also seeing people blaming it on Price now just kind of makes me face palm. There's some stupid "fans" out there commenting on the situation in Montreal that clearly know nothing at all about hockey. As far as I am concerned whenever a team fails to score or can barely manage a goal towards the end of a game as has happened so frequently with the Habs this year you can't really blame it on the goalie even if it isn't his best game. Point is the Habs failed to score so even if he was lights out it wouldn't have made a difference and you know what, I think he realizes all this and it's starting to effect his game.

Anyway all this hate and be honest it wouldn't feel right if something I liked within a particular community didn't get the majority of the hate from everyone else in said community though.

...OUCH! I see Maken-ki was apparently bad enough to the point where you committed a one-episode drop. One.

I suppose the fanservice is going to be running rampant (its MAL picture has the subtlety of an elephant), but was there anything else that made it so insufferable?

You know ... after thinking a bit I wonder whether or no my last reply was really "fair" to you in terms of returning content for content?

    Therefore, a little more here....

    Spoiler for Continued musings....:

Just finished reading your pm ... a worthy epistle in the ancient style to be sure!

Let's see ... where to begin? Hmm.

Well, let's use the spoiler tags again to save some space for whoever else may wander onto your profile.

Spoiler for Returned musings and ponderings ... also of a lengthy sort:

TYVM for your email ... I agree with many of the points you have listed out, but also your analysis of the "stances" of the posters in the thread who are "stirring things up":

Spoiler for Other thoughts on the thread....:

I never thought of the parallels those two shared with Madoka and Sayaka. With a bit more tweaking, it's easy to see it as a crossover. Now I think I see where you're visually getting part of your fondness for Sayaka x Madoka...

    Good analogy methinks!

Yeah ... in a certain way Mayo Neko Overun tried to do the same thing - i.e. address serious subjects coupled with fanservice, but the age range was different, and ... erm ... the "extremes" on either end of those two aspects was not as ... let's see ... "touched upon", I guess. So while it may have worked moreso there it will be super tricky in the Papa no Iu Koto setting.

I'm still hopeful that it would swing higher % wise to the more "serious"/mature/family centered focus a la Usagi Drop, but something tells me the show will try to continue in it's strange almost "schizophrenic" focus....
