Oh, that's awesome! I was having great difficulty finding Christmas related pics of Sayaka, I can turn that into a Christmas avatar, thanks!

Thank you! I was kind of busy for the past two weeks, though I could still find time to check the forums from time to time. It's just that either I'm too tired to post, not in the mood, or not knowledgeable enough about the topic to reply meaningfully. Fell out of the "groove", or maybe even into a sort of posting slump since the moe tournaments ended.

I do plan to go online sometime then, but in case I can't do so on Christmas day, I will also greet you now in advance, Merry Christmas!

It's cool, you have the ability to appreciate difference of opinion - something that is rare these days. I respect that big time.

    For a contrast, here's what I like.

    Ten fave males:

    10. Ginko from Mushishi. Chill, natural, takes life in his stride, accepts that he can't fix everything but does what he can.
    9. Okabe from Steins;Gate. He be crazy - but in a good way. Charismatic and entertaining.
    8. Alex from Last Exile. Dead on the inside but summons the will to do what only he can. Amazing strategist and handsome to boot.
    7. Kaiji from Kaiji. For all his failures, I do admire his insane ability to survive what no one else can and how his morality stays intact in a very evil, immoral world.
    6. Ed from Full Metal Alchemist. Brash youthful optimism meets sobering reality. Guy has more sense in him that almost anyone else in that show.
    5. Okita from Space Battleship Yamato. Now there is one manly man that just does it. Balances reality and optimism as only he can.
    4. Lelouch from Code Geass. He was a bastard but was fabulous at being one. Plus he grew a heart in the end and did what only he could do.
    3. Mugen from Samurai Champloo. Free spirit that did whatever he wanted but within (some) reason. Plus break-dancing fighting.
    2. Tokuchi from One Outs. He's damn sly, damn calculating. But the guy won with brilliant mind games and was able to motivate a team to aspire to reach for the stars. His confidence was so damn alluring.
    1. Tenma from Monster. Resourceful, amazing survival instincts and incredibly morality. To be able to eliminate the ultimate evil and prevent it from consuming him in the process - there's a real man.

    10 fave females:

    10. Horo from Spice and Wolf. Mature, teasing, hot and intelligent. She was just enthralling to watch.
    9. Chihaya from Chihayafuru. Looks of a model yet acts like a tomboy and lot of heart. She's so fun to watch.
    8. Honey from Cutie Honey. Old school feminista win with a lot of filrtation to boot.
    7. Kurisu from Steins;Gate. Non-typical tsundere and was an adult. Throw in some Western traits and cute banter with Okabe - she was great.
    6. Maetel from Galaxy Express 999 - Incredibly kind, sizzling hot and also a fair feminista. And the 30-odd versions of space bikini.
    5. Kyou from Clannad. Intelligent, spunky, cutesy, very well rounded in skills and talent. Also an amusing temper and sharp tongue. But also incredibly kind and tender once you get to know her. Also cuts a fine figure in casual clothes and that sports outfit.
    4. Lina Inverse from Slayers. Insanely hilarious, damn powerful and has a fiery spirit to match. Lot of spunk and determination in her - as well as elements that brought her down to earth when needed.
    3. Madoka from Kimagure Orange Road. Has the air and soul of a mature adult woman but the body and spirit of a high school teen. Feminista, sexy, attitude, style - she set the mark pretty high.
    2. Nina Fortner from Monster. Complex, enthralling young woman. One can only wonder how her sanity remains intact after what she's been through. But her ability to stay human, pursue justice and utterly own face when she needs to was pretty impressive. So freaking cute in a girl-next-door way then kickarse feminista minutes later.
    1. C.C. from Code Geass. Explosive mix of confidence, despair, selfishness, compassion, beauty, scarred, cold-hearted and inspring. She was a mix of extremes from both ends of the scale. A character with plenty of glaring flaws that could make it very easy to dislike her. But it was a rewarding challenge to be willing to look into her more and she her true self. She was truly special.

Oh boy, here comes a real can of worms...

Okay. The reason I watched Clannad/played it was for Kyou and Tomoyo. Also Kotomi to an extent. Tomoya would be about #3 on my most despised males in anime list and Nagisa is #2 on my most despised females list.

    My 10 most despised females:

    10. Kyouko from Working. Slack, cold and does nothing but eat and put down her customers. Get bent.
    9. Mizuho from Please Teacher. Spineless crybaby that just lets things happen to her.
    8. Eureka from Eureka Seven. Emo as hell, elusive, then sickeningly sweet at other times.
    7. Revy from Black Lagoon. Never seen an anime chick be so unattractive when naked. Thanks for ruining my shower fetish, bitch.
    6. Yuki from Haruhi Suzumiya. So what if she's cute? Bores me to no end.
    5. Mikuru from Haruhi Suzumiya. Spineless and a rape joke target. Sickening.
    4. Shana from Shana. RieKu and loli filth.
    3. Kuroko from Railgun. Even more extreme loli filth.
    2. Nagisa from Clannad. Miss 'I forgive anyone and accept anything, I'm the perfect otaku/jerk companion!' doll.
    1. Madoka from Madoka Magica. Useless as anything and I get denied the satisfaction of seeing her get owned. Damn it.

    10 most despised males:

    10. Renton from Eureka Seven. What kind of idiot cuts his arm open to settle someone down?! Or does all the other stupid crap he does?
    9. Koyomi from Bakemonogatari. Smarmy prick.
    8. Amuro from Mobile Suit Gundam. Immature brat that never grows up and makes the worst decisions. How the hell did he start a never-ending franchise?!
    7. Touma from Index/Railgun. Smarmy, sleazy, slimy prick!
    6. Ryner from Legend of the Legendary Heroes. Emo slacker lead that helped bury what could have been a good title. Freaking dirtbag.
    5. Ichika from Infinite Stratos. For the love of...You naive, insensitive fool! PICK ONE! JUST PICK ONE! OR AT LEAST NOTICE!
    4. Kyon from Haruhi Suzumiya. You arrogant, egotisitical, ever sarcastic killjoy!
    3. Tomoya from Clannad. He had all the potential in the world. And he wasted it. He was the victim of his own decisions. He chose to not overcome his troubled childhood and let it weigh him down. He toyed with everyone's emotions. He let himself be carried by Nagisa and her family. He let Ushio down for five years. He made the decision to go with a girl destined to die young. HIS DECISIONS were what caused his misery and misfortune! No sympathy from me!
    2. Shinji from Evangelion. Thanks for making spineless males in fashion for forever and a day, you little worm!
    1. Kamina from Tenga Toppen Guren Lagann. Biggest cock-thrusting, jockish, arrogant, egotistical, reckless, brainless fool I've ever seen. Only good thing he ever did was die. Listening to him is the equivalent of having oral forced upon oneself againt one's consent.

That IS OVA was a joke...1 minute of Houki service and 23 minutes of pandering. Seriously, that show should have been much better but it can always flaunt its 15k average as justifying its existence.

The FMA v FMA:B argument is ongoing. Yes, the second one was more loyal content-wise. But I liked the music, animation and vibe of the first one more. I've never been able to watch the second one much. Also find it hard to read the manga because Arakawa's art style bugs me big time. Plus the factor of having to watch nearly 20 episodes before the divergence point - that's a real trial.

Meh, most of the animes I've liked this year have sold low or will. Chihayafuru, Usagi Drop, Mirai Nikki, Boku wa Todomachi ga Sukunai. Fate/Zero and Steins;Gate would be bigger selling ones. I still have no idea how I feel about Steins;Gate though.

Oooo ... you know ... if you like fantasy'ish backgrounds then you might like Kemono no Soujo Erin. It is not outright "sword and sorcery" stuff (like The Lord of the Rings or such), but has "mythical like beasts" and a race of folk reputed to do things like magic.

There are 50 eps, and it takes 18 eps to really get rolling story wise, and if you can force yourself to get there you suddenly realize how important the previous 18 eps were for the rest of the series - that is, what originally seemed to be random encounters and seemed to be presented to the viewer as such turn out to be very important ... umm ... "life lessons" I guess.

Studio I.G. did it in 2009 and it is in the watercolor'ish style somewhat similar to what Usagi Drop was drawn in (or the old 1979 Rankin Bass animation of "The Hobbit", if you remember that one).

It turned out to be a really moving "Coming of Age" story for me - SeijiSensei was the one who recommended it to me. If you are interested to check it out try to find the subs by static subs - they have the best translation hands down. Coalgirls did a BD rip using static's subs' work, but if you are familiar with Coalgirls' BD encodings the whole 50 eps are rather ... large.

Still it was a completely unexpected and pleasant surprise for me - you might like it too.

As for The Twelve Kingdoms, I am on ep 3 and the only thing I have to say so far is that the main heroine is dense and a crybaby (but then if she weren't the story would not take up the 45 eps they made it in perhaps ).

Well ... I am watching The Twelve Kingdoms for the first time, and for some reason I thought of you.

    Hmm ... wonder why?

    (Only on ep 2.)

But watch out it can get addicting

Spoiler for from the cross game thread:

The more accessible ones in my list is probably Tokyo Godfathers. It's a movie so lengh isn't a problem and it really is centered around christmas ,it's set on christmas eve.
