Well, as promised, the AJAS poll results are finally out in full...

Now how does THAT sit with you? Quite different from Suki and the like, aren't we? ^^

Re: avatars, few static avatars are more than 25kb at full quality. So if the filesize limit were increased, it would only affect animated avatars. To give you an idea of what the difference between filesizes does, here are some posts with multiple filesizes:
    50 vs 75:
    50 vs 100:
    50 vs 100:

Basically, the more the better, but regardless of the size of the change I wouldn't go around expecting some kind of revolution in avatar making. Which kind of fits, since increasing the size limit wouldn't cause a revolution in overall AS page sizes either. Both the pros and cons of increasing the avatar size limit would probably be marginal rather than dramatic. You'd see mostly the same kinds of avatars being made, they'd just look a bit smoother. As an avatar maker with a fast internet connection, I'd be in favor of these sorts of small changes, although others might not be.

Re: signatures, probably the biggest limiting factor for static signatures on AS is the vertical height limit. I haven't found filesize to be much of a constraint for those. Currently, the only types of animated signatures that are possible are those that are very small, are larger but have very small animated areas, have only ~3 frames, or are specifically designed to have few colors. See Endrance, Godlike, and PreSage's threads for examples.
Spoiler for So this is 8 frames and ~50kb because only part of it is moving and it has only red, yellow, white and black:
Spoiler for This, on the other hand, is 13 frames and 360kb:

Animated signatures are uncommon right now because you have to do a lot of work to get any meaningful sort of animation under 50kb, whereas with an avatar you can usually just take footage straight from anime. So if signature size limits were increased, you'd probably start to see more, better, and a wider variety of animated signatures. Depending on your personal tastes that may or may not be something you want to see happen, and depending on the amount of the increase, that change may be big or small.

Didn't make it but grabbed it as soon as I saw it posted before someone else could take it.
Poor Ooba sempai, had her for year in my avatars and nobody ever mentioned her though that somehow fits her character.

I just noticed your fanfic in the fanworks section (don't go there too often) , havn't read it yet but I'll get around to it.

Ah ha ... that I can certainly understand.

Just last Wednesday I found out that the cancer my dad had has come back, and today my youngest brother got married in Alaska. In fact my entire family lives in Alaska now, so my two younger brothers handle most of the immediate "hands on maintenance" if you will.

So yeah - I can relate a bit.

Nothing painful or difficult I hope?

Erm ... did I weird you out with my long replies btw? I was kinda "thinking off the cuff" tbh.... I didn't rub you the wrong way with my (lengthy) replies, I hope?

I can definitely imagine Kana and Erio feeling they understand each other, yeah. Although that would really screw around with my assumption that Erio is just crazy since there actually are UFOs in the Iriya-verse. Actually, for a moment I was wondering if one could cross the timelines such that Kana and Erio are actually one person - seeing as Erio was missing for six months - but there's too many inconsistencies, I think. But Erio and (especially post-breakdown) Kana are really similar.

Not sure which camp I fall into with pairings,.. most of my "original" yuri-pairings involve the (often significantly) stronger girl developing a strong protective instinct for the weaker one. I think I imagine quiet girls being more comfortable around other girls as well.

Not sure why I'm creative for thinking of Kanbaru/Nadeko though. They both have no chance with Koyomi or Hitagi, and Kanbaru's confirmed bi and says she thinks Nadeko is cute after first seeing her in episode 9.

Tanking most likely, but yeah when I looked at my phone part way through work and saw the Habs were up 4-2 at the end of the third was, "uh oh...better hope Malkin gets a game misconduct or something", but alas he didn't.

Well, IIRC, you weren't big on Shu. Most people weren't. So I think for a lot of folks, the issue with Inori is that they just didn't get why she liked/loved Shu so much.

Whereas with someone like Yuki Nagato, they don't mind her crush on Kyon because most viewers of the Haruhi anime also like Kyon.

    That's one possible issue.
Hmmm... I didn't think that's would be an issue. I mean, look at Infinite Stratos- Most people hated Ichika but that hate doesn't spread to Char just because she likes him alot.

The likeabilty of the male counterpart seem to play almost no role in the overall popularity of the couple

I think that another factor might be that Inori hasn't had a strong tsundere-esque opponent to play off against in a love triangle situation (playing off a "silent moe" girl against a fiery tsundere tends to make the "silent" aspect of the "silent moe" girl seem nice. ). Only recently has Ayase clearly shifted into Shu's harem. For the first half of the anime, it was more of a Inori/Shu/Hare love triangle. I like Hare a lot, but she's not a tsundere, she can't be the Asuka to Inori's Rei or the Haruhi to Inori's Nagato.
What I don't get is the main disapproval seems to be the lack of emotions, but when you have characters like Nagato and Yui (zombie) enjoying their popularity despite being bottomline expressionless, you got to wonder what has Inori done wrong?
