You're right that shows like Angel Beats! and Ore no Imouto are "setting low standards and meeting them" with their stories, but even that is better than no standards in storytelling at all, so they get treated as great narratives. When you feed people nothing but cheap fast food, even an average T-bone steak starts to taste like filet mignon.

Indeed it and the Haruhi movie was great thing to wrap up the year with.

I got around to the movie recently/finally and I have to say it did look great xD, the action scenes were really enjoyable and it had some pretty nice music tracks too. And also the bit of extra details involving Fate and Her Family's past was interesting to see.

Yeah the next season has some interesting possibilities. I'll probably watch the second season of Kimi ni Todoke even though I didn't list it. Its relatively watchable even though I'd like to strangle her sometimes about the glacial pace of her self-esteem.

I've changed my mind about Mahou Shoujo Magika Madoka - it might be worth a watch just to see what Shinbo does with it. Also Yumekui Merry (hmmm, seinen maho girl?).

Moshidora looks like it might be a bit "for grownups" so that's on my list.
Wandering Son (the one with the crossdressing boy and girl) might be quirky.
Haiyoru! Nyarlko: Remember My Love (Craft-sensei) gets a probationary watch simply because its Cthulhu referenced with moe (Ptagn kawaii, gtui).
Starry Sky might be interesting simply because it has a gender balanced cast.
Everyone keeps swearing I'll love Beelzebub... but the fundamental plot descriptions and what I've researched doesn't move me at all. Probably download one ep to see.

Yeah... "forgettable" a popcorn level. For example, I enjoyed the Occult series, but probably all I'll remember is a cranky, fine line art version of a Haruhi type of girl and some 'ghostbuster' stuff. When you've *GOT* several iconic examples of a genre in your library the bar for adding to it gets higher. For example, I kept the first 3 eps and the last ep of Mayoi Neko Overrun because those had something to do with the source material. I deep-sixed all the parody omake episodes.
