It's cool, everyone has different tastes. Personally I can't stand shonens. They almost always have "emo" characters that develop "character" by going through "emo-stages", are dragged and are plagued by fillers. I think the fact that's why I've been more inclined to watch GAR stuff is because I'm getting sick of "emo". I also don't like mechas because of similar reasons, but TTGL and the Macross franchise felt different for me. Probably why I liked TTGL was because it was going a different direction to what all the others mechas were, and the reason I like Macross is because I like their mech designs and the music is quite catchy too.

I've been saturated with too much romcoms, moeblob comedies and dramas that I've been taking a break with those, though it doesn't help that POWA likes RomComs... On the subject of romcoms, I wouldn't call Nodame Cantabile a drama, but rather a not so over-the-top romcom, that is actually good. The live action drama on the other is over-the-top...

I don't really think Bakemonogatari is a loli avalanche (bar 2nd half of ep 9 and ep10), though I do hear criticism about how "pretentious" its artstyle is and how some people find the conversations boring, which I can understand, though not necessarily agree. Kinda how some people find the economics and conversations in Spice and Wolf boring. Really comes down to taste. It's like how I cannot appreciate "Japanese romcom humour" but can appreciate "Japanese parodic humour".

We had a preview screening the 2 weeks ago, where we showed various anime that was currently airing this season, which we do as a "season tradition" thing. The two animes that got the most attention was A Certain Scientific Railgun and Seitokai No Ichizon. I didn't really like either of them, though I am following Seitokai myself because it's the only thing worth watching for me atm (in my current mood). Kimi ni Todoke got mixed responses, as our club doesn't really like drama.

As I said, Kimi ni Todoke does look decent, but it seems a bit too shojo for me. It already is giving me Bokura Ga Ita vibes, and although that started off really well, it left me a real sour taste at the end. I'm more of a seinen drama/romance kind of person. Animes such as True Tears and Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora are among my favourites drama/romances. Also loved ef, which took a fairy-tale and arguably cliche storyline but executed it superbly and it's probably where SHAFT's crazy artstyle actually worked best. However, I will never consider showing at POWA again considering how it got awful responses a while ago when showed a preview. Wasn't even me that nominated but another committee person who wanted something for the drama slot lol.

As for our current club atm, we are having a bit of a debate what our future directions will be. Some of the commitee wants more balance in genres, but others just want to continue the action/romcom trend to get more members. As you can see our current lineup is mostly romcoms and actions.

Hope your club goes well too.

I've seen Kamichu and it was very charming. I enjoyed it a lot. I've got Kurenai and have seen the first couple of episodes. It made a very good impression and I intend to watch it... other things took priority at the time and I haven't gotten back to it yet.

I'll check into Daughter of Twenty Faces. I took a quick look at the wiki entry for it and it looks like something I'd like.

yeah exams are killing me i finish next week and i cant wait.

i started watching Kimi no Todoke and i thought it wasnt too bad. im a sucker for series where you have huge sympathy for the protagonist. i have to say i was very impressed with adelaide this year they definitely shcocked me with how well they played and i reckon in 2010 will again be a dominating team. my teams are Eagles who were disgraceful this year. i personally think they should get rid of worsfold because he cant do much when he doesnt have a awesome midfield like he did on 06/07. but i also follow Geelong and no i didnt jump on the band wagon i have gone for them ever since 2004 when they picked up Steve Johnson with pick 20.

by the way watching any other good shows at the moment or reading any good mangas?

Well, I do have my moments where my mood might get the better of me and I come across in a way that is opinionated and blunt. But I do try to be civilized.

Thanks for the suggestion on Aoi Hana. Downloading it now. I like those "If you liked that, then you'll like this" kind of recommendations. I'm always downloading different series I come across, even if I don't intend to watch them right away. I think I must have about 20 different series in storage that I've yet to watch. So, if they ever do crack down on fansubs and make them harder to get, I'll have a couple hundred hours of anime to watch that I've never seen before.

That looks like a decent lineup . Never heard of Birdy the Mighty Decode or Higepiyo though. Watching through Tokyo Mangitude 8.0 and Canaan atm and so far it's pretty decent.

K-on, lol. Most overrated show of the year, though the term overrated is subjective. Bakemonogatari is considered overrated by some, but I've enjoyed it immensely that is in my favourites. Really rare to find a superb dialogue based anime, and Senjougahara is one of the better characters in an age of moe-blobs and emo shonen-kiddies.

Kimi ni Todoke is on hold like I said before. Spice and Wolf 2 was brilliant and (along with the first season) is one of my favourites. Like Bakemonogatari, superb dialogue anime. Only problem I had with it was crappy music. The atmosphere/mood would have been so much better if there was some epic medieval music playing in the background.

I'm behind in Umineko but every episode seems to get more and more confusing and it's slowly giving me back Higurashi season 1 vibes, which isn't a good sign. Have you watched season 2? If you haven't I highly recommend it. Season 1 was a total trainwreck and made no sense, but season 2 is a masterpiece. Significantly cuts down on the random yandere-ness of the charactesr and violence and focuses much more on solving the mysteries - and it makes perfect sense, unlike the first season. On MAL I ended up giving season 1 a 5/10, whilst season 2 a 8/10.

As for our Perth Club lineup, our latest screening was:

Soul Eater ep 42 (Generic Shonen - staple genre of any club)
Seto no Hayanome ep 11 (I hate this anime, but the club loves it. Random, over-the-top romcom)
Clannad After Story ep 6 (Had to mix up a drama somewhere. But despite expecting poor reactions, it's actually getting a good one. Club managed to sit through 24 eps of the 1st season no problem too).
Sengoku Basara ep 2 (The GAR and energy level in this reminds me of TTGL)
Genshiken 2 ep 3 (A club favourite. One of the better otaku/anime reference animes out there)
Macross Frontier ep 2 (Impressive CG in its mech fights which our club loves)
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan ep 4 (Another one of those over the top, violent romcoms that our club loves...)

Well, after seeing "Elfen Lied" on there, I can say with confidence that violence clearly wasn't what lead you to dislike Bakemono, Speed Grapher and Baccano, lol.

Hiya. Wow, you mean someone actually wrote to me? It's been awhile. Yeah, I'm really liking KnT. Each episode just seems to fly by and I can't wait to see the next. I have a wide variety of tastes when it comes to anime. Especially after having gotten involved with ISML. I've discovered so many wonderful series as a result of trying to get to know the girls. And I also discovered what a hopeless romantic I am, not to mention my growing addiction to moe.

I may check out the KnT sub forum. I usually don't get involved in those because I get frustrated with comparisons between anime and manga. I read very little manga, so I'm usually only concerned with the anime. But, I do make exceptions now and then.

I guess, except with me, the more I get trolled with "I'm right, you're wrong" the more I feel the need to post. Though It's usually always how it ends, only TeamRocketElite(TRE for short) seems to debate with me without resorting to gimmick three word posts that don't even make any sense. Wontaek too, but we pretty much agree on nothing, so I rather not debate with my polar opposite. I do remember uis comments on Saki after you questioned It's popularity on ISML...He certainly blew up unexpected. His taste in anime can be strange, I honestly think he has a attraction to unpopular character, because his favorite list is ever-changing, and they're always geared towards shows most people never even heard of. If you checked his favorite list on you would see that. As for arguments over certain series, and characters you like...I try to avoid that because it just ends up getting in my nerves, since I'm usually arguing with some one spouting nonsense without any valid reasons. But It's always good to defend your favorite - C.C. for you, Fate for me.

Yeah, I loved the assertive Fate in A's. I especially loved how she portrayed pure-badassery while in her barrier jacket form, and then she was so shy and easily flustered in her every day clothing, or school uniform especially. Fate and Nanoha have a cute relationship, I'm still praying they make a highschool Ova, or something...The episode where Hayate turns into the book of darkness, so that means you havn't watched the Fate dream sequence episode yet? That's one of my favorite parts, and It's done so well. StrikerS is worse imo, but some people seem to love it, so It's all preferance I guess. I only enjoyed it for the obvious reasons, but A's was definitely better.

Hm, I'm interested to know what type of series interest you now. Personally, Bakemono and Baccano were both enjoyable for me, but I have no preferance to genre, so any is fine. Considering you mentioned Speed Grapher, Baccano and probably are not a fan of excessive violence, right? Speed Grapher and baccano were especially violent, but Bakemono had It's moments with that sadistic Hitagi...That's fine, atleast you gave each series a episode worth of chance, that's more than I can say for most people. Although three episodes will tell you more on if a series is worth sticking to. Sometimes first episodes can give off a bad first impression, but the series can improve considerably later. I actually havn't started Kimi ni Todoke yet, but I probably will after I finish up a few things I'm already watching. I'm not a fan of excessive ecchi either, although I'll rarely find it okay if I want a anime where I dont feel like thinking, and one of the girls is incredibly cute and the fanservice is done appealing. But most of the times, the girls don't feel that attractive, and I've no interest in seeing whats underneath the skirts. >.>

I enjoyed Eden, but the ending was crap~
And yeah, Spice and Wolf is a nice series. Relaxing too.
