I have to wonder. Were lacus and Orphee truly genetically the most compatible or was that Aura feeding into his delusions? They simply communicate like the rest of the accords. What if her mother was part of Ulens faction. The rings only say so much. Aura might’ve copied it for her ends. Kira was Ulens son but Lacus wasn’t his daughter. She could be used by Aura to further her own research. Lacus might not be a success, but at least on par with the accords. Kira being a success is a bitter point for the scientist. He has the seed, the new type abilities, and likely accord abilities. He’s everything she failed to do.

I really feel this movie needs a full series to expand on these questions.

Slowly crawling my way through the accompanying novels... Just 1 chapter to go.

Having not seen the movie and probably not going to see it anytime soon, are the novel chapters solely filling in gaps or also recapping things that happen in the movie?

So multiple movies could have solved the whole, we have to do homework to understand this. xD

If the movie is successful enough, they could make a full series out of it. I could think of many plot points they could add or how to extend a scene.

Makes me wonder what the other script versions for the movie was.

Some time ago, I read the director mentioned the idea of cloning Kira.

Honestly I would have liked to see that, link it to the Astray series Librarian Works

To be honest, Librarian works does seem like a final boss archetype faction.

Freedom returns to the box office for its final weekend alongside Detective Conan and Haikyu. It made 138,059,550 yen (about US$882,300) from Friday to Sunday, and has earned a cumulative total of 4,796,455,740 yen (about US$30.65 million). The film will end its theatrical run today.

Now, let's see when Bandai releases its bluray... Imagine if the Bluray has an extra scene from the novel.

Nice. Gundam Seed Freedom will be available on Netflix from 8th June. Atleast in Japan. Not sure about the rest of the world yet.

Lucky I use VPN just in case lol.

I had a random Thought the other day. Back in Destiny, what if the accords had authorized the “assassination” of Lacus through Gil? We learn through the movie the importance of her to Aura and Orphee. Yet she was fine hanging back, attending to orphans and Kira. Maybe the hit was actually intended to bring her back into the game for their ends. Maybe the real targets were those who could influence her decisions.

The dialogue in that episode made it clear Lacus was the target and that ZAFT operative aiming his carbine at Lacus through a ventilation grate was definitely going for a headshot, not for an incapacitating shot. The small briefing they had on the beach prior to assaulting the estate does explicitly include "Leave no trace of her death at the site "; it wasn't a snatch and grab or an "intimidate only" PSYOP - it was a direct assassination sanctioned by Durandal. The use of amphibious MS afterwards and use of massive firepower on Malchio's residence further reinforces this.

As for this being masterminded by the Accords, it's too far-fetched. The novel makes it amply clear they did want her back into their fold, but the way you hypothesize they intended to do so would've put her - a civilian with arguably no military training or experience whatsoever, much less willingness to use violence - in excessive harm's way. They wouldn't have risked it.

Also, given their abilities and the delusion of "we're one big happy family" they've basking in their entire life, the Accords would have gone themselves to fetch Lacus rather than entrust this delicate task to inferior Coordinators completely ignorant of the personal stakes at hand. They were not above dirtying their own hands, especially for something so crucial to their core fantasies.

Last but not least, the timeline would put the Accords back within the Kingdom of Foundation, preparing for the country's self-affirmation and secession from EA. They had other fishes to fry right then.
