Adult manga or anime
 

I'm coming back to anime and manga after a few years and have found some stuff that I'll check out based on various suggestions on the 'net.
However, what seems harder to find is adult stuff, in every sense of the word.
(I can almost hear the high pitched screams of "pervert", and this my first post and all.) ;)

What I'd like to read/watch would have both interesting grown up characters and plot as well as a nice romance and good sex (I'm a romantic pervert at least...). I can do without tentacles and panty shots.
I'm not too bothered if it's modern, historical or something else, but I do tend to prefer slower paced stories even if they are short.
Yaoi doesn't really do it for me (not the sex anyway), Yuri is ok.

Non-porn manga and anime I like include YKK, Windy Tales, Planetes, Yotsubato!

Does such as beast exist?

Try at least Strawberry Panic : it's yuri, it has romantically embarrasing moments but the characters are highschoolers.

The another thread I'm looking for this was Velvet Kiss : it has grown-up characters, nice amount of romance, plenty of romantically embarassing moments (sex included), however it has lot of pantyshots.

Or some Mayu Shinjo's works : the characters are mostly highschoolers, but it has smut (good sex) and nice romance. Also, I don't think there's any pantyshots.

Since you declare yourself as a ‘romantic pervert’ :D I’ll suggest one manga title first. It’s called A Peephole by Honmyou Wakou (if I’m not mistaken). The characters are university students so they’re pretty grown-up, it has interesting plot & romance and sex (and absolutely no tentacles :uhoh::heh:).

I'll suggest Darling, a story about a porn manga-ka and his lovely young wife and inspiration. The anime depicts the stories he's writing as he rushes to make a deadline. The episodes parody a variety of stock hentai themes, and while there are no tentacles as I recall, some of the stories are a bit edgy (for instance, a female spy being examined by an interrogator). These scenes are defused by the fact that the cute and good-natured young couple appear as the protagonists in each story.

Thanks guys. From what I can tell these two are actually one and the same manga. I took a quick look at it, and while it seems amusing enough I'm not sure it's quite what I am looking for.

While these types of stories can be fun, I'm looking for something a little more serious. Something more ordinary, less silly embarrasing situations and over-reacting characters you'd find in many shounen and harem stories for example. A bit more low key.

I haven't read much josei, but Tramps Like Us with plenty of smut would probably approach what I have in mind. So, a good story with lots of sex rather than lots of sex with a story attached if that makes sense.

A few pantyshots won't kill me (I wouldn't be writing this if that was the case...), but they get a bit tedious if they are on every second page. :)
I haven't gotten hold of Strawberry Panic yet, but Velvet Kiss seems to be in the right direction at a first glance.

I checked baka-updates and googled a bit but failed to find this. There are a few other manga with the word Darling, but they seem to be yaoi...

I wouldn't be too worried about being perceived as a Hentai. I mean... anime by it's very nature is almost always perverted to one degree or another, I think the point of these forums is to liberate us from it being a "guilty pleasure" to being something we admit we like together. I personally don't get turned on by anime (I mean... it's cartoons.. and the girls' eyes are so big they kind of look like aliens) but I do get a huge kick out of animes that have perverted wrong themes. It's just funny to me watching guys make serious team up efforts to spy on women in a bath, or watching sexual tension between a brother and sister so you just go "omg I can't believe someone made this!!" Yeah I mean, I don't judge you, just be honest, admit what you're into, that's what I'd imagine we're all doing here.

I'm not a bit worried about being seen as perverted, strange or hentai. I'm a straight man, I like looking at naked women and reading the occasional erotica/smut, I doubt many (here at least) would find that out of the ordinary.

My op comment about high pitched screams was honestly just a joke, a sort of reference to what actually happens in many anime and manga. But I do appreciate your concern, even if it was somewhat misplaced this time. :)

I do agree about most manga/anime not being all that hot for much the same reasons. The girls' bodies are too exagerated (or way too young for me to feel comfortable) and the situations are too silly, especially in harem type stories. Well done however, they can be amusing in carefully measured doses.

And hence my post here, I want someting that's well-drawn, hot, has believable characters and a plot.

Some manga for your consideration:

Yuria 100 Shiki and My Balls are hilarious sex comedy. You'd probably be laughing too much to be...interested in other ways. These two works share an author, but different artists. Believable...isn't the word you'll find here. But funny. Very funny.

I thought Kanojo wa Kanno Shousetsuka (She's An Erotica Novelist) is both funny and sweet, the latter in more than one sense. A surprisingly nice romance and well developed characters on top of the "adult" fun.

A bit more juvenile (or is it?) is Kono Oneesan wa Fiction-desu!?, which is delicious if you're into the older woman type. Otherwise it is just a fun little manga.

These are all rather mild, well relatively, and far from actually being H manga. You'll have to ask somebody else on that front (we have a lot of perverts around, no? :p).

Not to mention with Futari Ecchi : a hilarious sex comedy about the unmarried pairing trying to make a child, however it doesn't happen, they follows the step of maternity. It has grown up characters, nice romance, romantically embarrasing moments and some pantyshots.

But are they TEDDY BEAR panty shots???? LOL, that has never made sense to me, in animes bear panties are the holy grail of panties, in real life if my girlfriend wore bear panties I'd be like "what are you 5???"

The manga doesn't have any bear pantyshots (I think, but I can't remember really since I only read the second volume for a long time)

I was just trying to be stupid. I think the bear panty thing is one of the silliest cliches in anime.:heh:

This is killing me, because I know I've seen an anime that would be perfect for you. It was this love triangle anime and they developed the relationship slowly, and they didn't have ANY sex scenes until like the last couple of episodes, so you watched the romance blossom and then got payoff sex in the end.

Problem is I can't remember the freaking NAME!!! If it comes to me, I'll let you know.

From your description, it does sound interesting. It'd be great if you remember the name, but I know how it is. There are so many shows and manga, and remembering the names of all of them...
