Top Gun: Maverick
 

After a 34-year long wait, Top Gun will have its sequel. This is the trailer that was presented at Comic-Con by Tom Cruise himself.

Here is what we know:

• Tom Cruise returns as Peter "Maverick" Mitchell, now a captain (US Navy equivalent to colonel)
• Ed Harris plays a (2-star) rear admiral. Man, he looks so old for such rank!
• Val Kilmer also returns as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky
• Jennifer Connelly plays a single mother running a bar near the Naval base.
• Miles Teller plays the role of Bradley Bradshaw, a pilot trainee and the son of Maverick's late flight partner Nick "Goose" Bradshaw
• Jerry Bruckheimer, the expert producer in action blockbusters since the 1980s, returns as producer
• Harold Faltermeyer (original score composer in 1986) and Hans Zimmer will compose the score for the movie
• The F/A-18 Super Hornet will be the main fighter jet to feature in the movie
• Supposedly retired from US service in late September 2006, the F-14 Tomcat appears in the movie as well.
• A budget of $140 million has been deployed for this movie

Can't wait!

So..... is that F-14 at the end a flashback or Iranian?

Or Maverick found a way to keep one safe from scrappers somewhere before he would fly it on one last ride. It's definitely flying over a North American winter landscape though.

I don't care about Top Gun at all but I know this: There better be Top Gun Anthem in there in some form or other. Preferrably played by Steve Stevens again on some carrier

Well, Harold Faltermeyer, who composed the anthem back in 1986, is back as the main composer. I can't tell about Steve Stevens, but I saw Hans Zimmer at a concert being a total boss playing all kinds of instruments including the electric guitar. I'm sure there will be plenty for the nostalgia fans out there.

So why is Maverick is still a Navy Fighter Pilot at his age since by US Military law, older pilots are retired from active duty and either take a desk job or become a flight instructor.

Yeah, they just shoehorned the F-14 in. Which only because it's the F-14 is 100% A-okay by me.
