The jazzy song in ep 2 is it made for this show or is it a jazz original?

Cat Megex 2009-03-29 18:34

Listening to the OST... did JAM Project only help on the first song on it? It's the only one that has "[...] with JAM Project" in its title.

Regardless, it sounds pretty cool overall.

C.A. 2009-03-29 20:03

Hmmm its because JAM Project lent their voices only for that piece.

But yea the soundtrack is pretty awesome, Nelval was quite surprising towards the end. Normally we only hear the first half which sounds dangerous and threatening, but then there was a calm part before getting exciting again.

EDIT: My favourite is Sorakake Girl, awesome Takane debut piece.

Hmmm yea its not in the OST.

It has some parts similar to Starlight and Kirkwood though.

The booklet says the style used for the OST is called Progressive Rock, using various rock elements from the 60's onwards, playing with harmonics, changing rhythms and other techniques to create pieces with strong attitudes.

Very catchy OST, the last time I liked one as much was from Top wo Nerae!2, similar futuristic space feel in the music.

Yeah, JAM Project is quite progressive in their instrumentation, they don't just play the instruments, more like pushing the limits of what these instruments can do. I'm a fan of the genre myself.

One of my favourite Prog Rock bands: Rush
The bassist is also the keyboardist AND the vocalist... There are only three members in the band, guitarist, percussionist and this guy.

C.A. 2009-03-30 13:07

Actually I really think that JAM Project only took part as voices lol

The booklet states all composers but none of them are from JAM Project :heh:

Though they seem to have worked with JAM Project, could be their producers and composers.

Eh... I fail.
But my previous post still holds, Progressive Rock is perfect for space stuff because all the instruments are pushed to their limits.

They should just hire Dream Theater to create an English track for the series.

Anyway Ep 13 has a new OP. Not that bad IMO, I need second listens to give a better view.

EDIT : Sorry. Got scammed. Wrong song for wrong anime.

Midonin 2009-03-30 13:16

Huh? The stream I saw for episode 13 didn't have the new OP yet.

qmeister 2009-03-30 13:16

Dream Theater is too hard-sounding, though some of Liquid Tension Experiment's stuff might do. I still think Rush would make a better OST, concept-wise.

C.A. 2009-03-30 13:18

Nice to know there's a new OP.

And YYZ sounds awesome lol, the drum solo is amazing!

qmeister 2009-03-30 13:21

:3 Some of Rush's stuff takes a little getting used to, but their instrumentals are brilliant. By the way their drummer is Neil Peart. Possibly the greatest drummer of all time.

Nowadays, we all expect a new OP every 13 episodes... :P
Who is the new OP by? ALI Project again?

Midonin 2009-03-30 13:23

There was no new OP.

Fishfood1 2009-03-30 13:26

so 13 is out and no new thread for it appears...

mods! where are you! :heh:

Shiroth 2009-03-30 19:58

A bit late to the party, though just wanted to say how much i'm loving the first soundtrack. I've loved the score for this show since the first episode (for reasons that i've stated in the past). Seriously, such a great turn out of pieces. Will give my full thoughts after i've given it a few more listens.

Sixth 2009-03-30 23:37

The first OST is out.

Sixth 2009-03-31 18:43

The soundtrack seem not impressive to me..sigh..

my favorite is Majectic Overture and Duel in Mythology.

where is Leopard theme?

C.A. 2009-03-31 18:53

I guess you're just not into this type of music.

The OST is quite awesome by recent standards, people were even complaining that last year was a disappointing year for OSTs.
