The shounen/seinen manga Aki Sora by Itosugi Masahiro will be getting an OVA adaptation:

The OVA will be released with the limited edition third manga volume which will be released on December 18th, 2009.

Hmm I wasn't expecting this series to get an adaptation..., the manga is pretty hardcore, on par with hentai titles,...you got:

Edit: Ah, didn't read it. It's an OVA with the manga release. That makes more sense.

are they really planning to animate this title? if I remember correctly, every chapter had at least a "soft sex scene"---ehhh, not that surprising given the nature of the magazine. and they were pushing the limits a bit, especially in the last chapter I had read.

I thought the manga was good, especially the bits of drama that were introduced every now and then--- but I didn't particularly like those "soft sex scenes" for being rather tacked to each chapter. oh well, not that I know the main reason why they want to animate this... :heh:

The manga was serialized in a shounen manga magazine, other than this manga all other manga from the magazine are mentioned to be shounen manga, but this is the only manga mentioned by the publisher to be seinen.

So I'm really not sure if its ok or not, its serialized in a shounen manga magazine is my excuse :D

I'm glad they decided to animate this.
This is probably my favourite manga. It deals a lot with the morals about sex. Some parts of the manga are trully liberating.

Having a lot of hot girls don't hurt either.

haha well instead of calling it a hardcore senien romance(btw which has a rather weak romance element to it) I put it as a softcore hentai cause that what it bascially is. Story just shouts hentai and thats what it really should have been.

cause of its rather thin border on where it stands it kinda fails in this aspect, its like a hentai series that wants to have some sort of plot but doesn't want to show us anything good;)

well putting that aside I'll watch it anyway:p

Yes, exactly, its a shounen manga magazine, with only this manga (Aki Sora) described as seinen manga by the publisher while all the other manga from the same magazine (that have been published in volumes) are described as shounen manga.

A "general" readership magazine (well, its a shounen magazine) that serilizes one mature manga lol

it's not like Aki Sora is the only controversial title published under this magazine. Some stuff in Champion Red Ichigo and its sister Champion Red are also pushing the limits. taking for example Yomeiro Choice (which I want to see animated as well), this manga is pretty much walking on a very thin line, with some stuff that will make you think twice about the non-adult nature of the magazine. Seikon no Qwaser, soon to be an anime adaptation, seems to be another title that also has its fair share of controversial content. I will even throw Franken Fran into the mix for being quite unique... but we all know that it has very little in common with the aforementioned titles even though it's published under the same magazine. :heh:

You can think of them as smut in shounen manga magazines :heh:, because other than this manga (Aki Sora), manga like Seikon no Qwaser, and Franken Fran, and others that come from both these shounen manga magazines (Champion Red and its sister magazine Champion Red Ichigo) are mentioned to be shounen manga by the publisher.

Its like they are trying to get these magazines as controversial as possible :heh: which somehow I like :D mature shounen manga :D :heh:

I wonder how they're going to animate the... uh, "sister and brother gets on it" scenes... while trying to pass it as a "pretty watchable" anime.

Given the material it should be possible to convert it into a short 6 episode story and keep everything but the sex scenes (or just simply the explicit parts in them). Well I'm just tinkering with the idea seeing as other H-material has been converted to anime in the past. Of course since this is getting a OVA adaptation its likely to be as explicit as the manga.

I didn't even know it was shounen manga until I walked into this thread... Damn these guys know how to push the limits.

I thought that Champion Red Ichigo was seinen and Champion Red was shonen.

Both are shounen manga magazines. All manga volumes that come from Champion Red Ichigo are mentioned to be shounen manga by the publisher.

For now Aki Sora is the only manga that comes from Champion Red Ichigo that's mentioned to be seinen manga by the publisher.

So happy to hear that this is getting an OVA. Can't wait. Made my entire day.

So I took a look at the manga. Are you kidding me? How on earth can they make an anime of this that isn't hentai? This is more in the Shoujo Sect category than the KissxSis category. I mean, I guess they could leave out direct images, but the whole point of the story is physical relations between brother and sister....

Really, it does seem to me that whenever there is a hue and cry against sex in anime -- as there is in Japan right now -- anime-makers take it as a challenge and produce even more outrageous shows. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

It does seem contradictory, given recent events in the news. that we seem to be seeing more and more hentai made into anime.

If I see a big "disaster" in the news I expect people to talk about it, make a series about it, make a movies about it; not the other way round =P

haha just think of the old saying "sex sells" money needs to be made so why not go with what works:D

Not only it contains sister x brother as main dish. It also has group xxx and even a hint about mother x daughter. :eyespin: On top of that, the directer and character designer are also behind Sora no Iro, Mizu no Iro. :heh: At this point, this anime will definitely go to hentai route. There is no way it can be done other ways.

Take out the hentai and there is no Aki Sora, really. There's not way to make a PG-13 version of this that would be in any way recognizable.

A torrent link to the subbed OVA will most likely not appear on AnimeSuki.

We probably won't list it, since they probably won't censor the OVA much. But there's no need to lock the thread over it. As long as people aren't linking to anything that breaks forum rules we don't wish to prevent anyone from actually discussing the title. The story (as much as I've read of it anyway, five chapters or so) isn't bad really. It's just the nature of the taboo relationships and their graphic portrayal that have earned this title its reputation. However, unlike some series, the sex and story go hand in hand here. Strong censoring would hurt much of the impact of the plot.

I'm still curious as to why this manga was given the go ahead for an adaptation. With the current frenzy over ero content in Japan, this seems like a bold choice.
