Looking for suggestions for a friend

First things first, here is his MAL
http://myanimelist.net/profile/rm_stallion

So, this buddy of mine is looking for some suggestions. It's tough to describe what he's looking for, since he's not actually sure himself. The guidelines are very vague, let's see what you can come up with

> Action would be prefered, doesn't need to be the main aspect though.
> Romance is fine as long as it's done decently
> More of an "adult" anime
> Overall it should be more "plot-heavy", allthough not solely focused on dialogue either

Don't pay attention to his plan to watch, feel free to recommend stuff even if it's already on there.

Looking for suggestions for a friend <--- "A girl" :D

I'd suggest:
12 Kingdoms (female protag, action, plot heavy, older target audience)
Cowboy Bebop (male protag, tons of action, winding story, tragedy, older target audience)
Kenshin OAV (called "Trust and Betrayal" now, male protag, action, gore, tragedy, it'll make grown men weep)
Death Note (male protag, suspense, drama, tragedy, anti-hero)
Monogatari Series (male protag, quirky animation, wordplay, just super fun)
To Aru Series (male protag, lots of interesting characters, more shounen-ish)

Outlook good

Nah, he's actually a guy. He already saw the Monogatari Series and liked it a lot, thanks for your other recs, will pass it through to him. I think especially Index/Railgun could fit his taste.

I'll second Twelve Kingdoms though I'm not sure it will be to his tastes. However he should definitely watch Baccano! and Madoka, both of which are on his "plan to watch" list.

Twelve Kingdoms has a rather slow start but picks up quickly around episode six. Baccano! has a confusingly large cast and a rather slow first episode, but again it's moving right along by episode two.

Hmm...Tell him to try:
Guilty Crown
Dragonaut the Resonance
The Vision of Escaflowne
Inu x Boku SS

They all contain romance which is necessary for the plot. Hope he likes them!

I'm going to suggest Gungrave and Blassreiter. Romance is not a heavy element in either show, but there is a lot of other well developed relationships, and definitely a lot of action. Both are pretty easy to get into and turn out great, in my opinion.
