Adachi Mitsuru's Q&A

Finally, with the release of the first issue of Monthly Shonen Sunday (or Gessan, for the more intimate), the first chapter of Mitsuru Adachi's new series, "Q & A" is out.

And the fine folks at MangaDownloads already scanlated that very chapter, as well. So, what's everyone's thoughts about this? Surely the supernatural twinge is something to take note, no?

Cinocard 2009-05-13 21:22

Huh? What? Supernatural? Adachi's manga has unreal factor in it? I guess there's no sport then? No one can tell how it will turn out, but with this, it would at least worth a try.

And lol, I just knew about this new magazine from Cross Game chap 149.

Looks like the brother will be causing lots of trouble to Atsushi and might be the one who gets him together with Yuho by doing stuff to get her attention towards him like lifting her skirt in School when Atsushi is near her. :D

Atsushi seems to be not a memorable person and the brother again will be causing trouble that will get he's brother some attention that he's always been lacking. Looks like a lot of fun awaits this series.

itisjustme 2009-05-14 05:33

He's already done supernatural before with Itsumo Misora. Wouldn't bet on no sport though. :p

First time I saw Atsushi's I got the feeling he mixed Azuma's hairstyle into his usual protagonist look, cracked me up.

BetoJR 2009-05-14 06:32

The character seems interesting, as well. At least, he does not display any kind of immediate sports brilliance or something of the kind for us to expect such developments - other than having a knack to disappear from dangerous or unpleasant situations, from time to time. :D

And I haven't read Itsumo Misora. Guess I need to remedy that, now... :heh:

Natsuki Hyuga 2009-05-14 07:09

Oh shoot! Q&A ia already out and I totally forgot about it! :twitch: Will read it fast I guess... That is after I finish something... *whistles*

Also, Beta (:D), I guess I have to warn you that Itsumo Misora is... A bit "LOL WTF" in the end. :heh: Don't be twitching when you reached the end volume :heh:

BetoJR 2009-05-14 07:37

Coming from you, it is quite the warning, fangirl... I'll be prepared, then. :D

Let us know what you thought about it, when you do read the story, 'kay?

Falkor 2009-05-14 08:46

I took a quick glance at the manga section and this thread was brought to my attention by its title: Adachi Mitsuru's Q&A, is this a Question & Answer thread? :heh:

oh well, you know I have to ask this, does it involve baseball? :P

I don't think I'm going to follow this manga on chapter-by-chapter basis, since Mitsuru Adachi's works are best enjoyed in big volumes. :P posting more comments later...

BetoJR 2009-05-14 08:49

Insofar as the first volume goes, no, it doesn't involve baseball. But there's no telling what the future may bring. And this being a monthly series, I feel confident that it will be enjoyable on a chapter by chapter basis... at least, for now. :D

I have come to the conclusion that Adachi is just physically incapable of diversifying his character designs. A lot of manga artists are bad at this, but he's the worst. I took one look at the pic and thought "Oh, Aoba grew out her hair" then I realized it's a new series. I'm still going to read it though. Eventually.

Yes and he has been joking about that for a very long time :heh:

BetoJR 2009-05-14 14:39

They even subverted it in some of the live action renditions of his works!

The same actress plays the female lead in the Touch (Minami) and Rough (Ami) movies.

Another one plays both Koyanagi in Rough and Hikari in the jdrama of H2. :heh:

It's not only in the mangas!!! :D

BetoJR 2009-06-22 17:07

Okay, new chapter out and translated, people. It's getting quite interesting, is all I'm saying for now...

kuroishinigami 2009-06-22 20:24

Hmm, it seems quite interesting, but since it appears in monthly magazine, I hope it won't be too long of a series (don't want to wait 10-15 years for the series to finish :P). It seems like a unique adachi's series like Itsumo Misora and it's always welcomed since it runs concurently with Cross Game ^^. Just hope Adachi wouldn't take too many hiatus on Cross Game to work on this one :P

stpehen 2009-06-23 18:45

I don't think it'll run all that long. Probably not much longer than 2-3 years. Itsumo Misora is a good comparison (mostly comedic, featuring some supernatural elements) and I don't think he tends to run too long with the more gimmicky stories.

Also, Cross Game is wrapping up pretty soon so I doubt he'll have enough time left to even take a hiatus if he wanted to.

kuroishinigami 2009-06-23 21:01

Well, I thought Cross Game was going to be a smooth ride before 3rd part started too, but.......

jpwong 2009-08-19 01:27

So after 4 chapters, I'm still not really sure where this is going to go.

I'm going to say I saw exactly where the whole Rakugo DVD thing was going as soon as he asked if he'd watched it. :)

BetoJR 2009-08-20 07:03

Another interesting chapter. And I am in the same boat, still not knowing where this is all going... but enjoying it nonetheless. :D

typhonsentra 2009-08-22 18:04

Yeah I'm liking this too. I wonder about the potential track subplot though. That might just be a red herring.

Nosauz 2009-08-22 22:15

looks good, hope its on the lines of miyuki, but seeing as its classified as sport i think it might run like touch, either way this looks very promising.
