[PS3/360] Killer is Dead

New Suda51 game, go!

Man, does this look awesome. So apparently the story is centered around an organization of executioners. Well, the screens alone give me big Killer 7/No More Heroes vibes, so that's cool. Also, the MC's name is Mondo Zappa, which is like one of the most BADASS sounding names in existence. Oh yes, I'll be keeping an eye on THIS one.....

Bump for updates!

First off, a translation of that info I posted above: http://gematsu.com/2013/01/killer-is...led-in-famitsu

Secondly..... A TRAILER!!

So it comes out this summer, eh? I imagine an overseas release won't be far behind, then.....

defki 2013-01-18 00:16

Yup looks like Killer7 and NMH had a child. I need this. Like now.

SOGESNAKE 2013-01-18 01:52

That was a nice little version of "'From the New World" they had there. Anyway, it indeed does look like the lovechild of Killer7 and NMH. When I had first saw the logo for the game, I thought it'd just be a sequal to Killer7 what with the similar logos... but now that thoughts gooone. Good to see we're not stuck on rails this tiiiime~

I'll take it!

marvelB 2013-01-22 17:33

So apparently, this game may be published by Xseed.

That.... would certainly be a surprise. I'd have figured it would've been picked up by EA or Ubisoft like with some of their past titles. Either way, still good to know of a potential publisher, at least! :)

defki 2013-01-31 10:59

Xseed is on a roll.

Confirmed that Xseed will publish the game. Killer is Dead will be released Summer 2013 in the US.

Also Deep Silver will release the game in Europe.

60+ images of Killer is Dead.

^Hell yes, I SO cannot wait for this now. :D

Skane 2013-02-01 23:53

LoGH has forever ruined me when it comes to that particular BGM. :heh: I can't help but think of epic space operas whenever I hear that opening piece.

Heh.

Looks good, certainly better than DmC

marvelB 2013-03-18 16:04

Time to bump for our first trailer with English voice acting!

Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)

SOGESNAKE 2013-03-18 16:07

Y'know.... I was always between Troy Baker and Patrick Seitz when it came to the dub of the main character.... guess I was somewhat right~ :heh:

marvelB 2013-03-28 17:11

Here's a hands-on article of the game. So apparently this game is going to have a "Gigolo Mode". I wonder if that means we'll get a bunch of 8-bit minigames like in NMH2? :p

Oh and BTW, it looks like KID isn't the only Grasshopper game in the works. They've got another hack n' slasher on the way, and looking at the concept art. I'd say that the female protagonist will look mighty familiar to anyone who played the NMH games..... :D

Suda explains Killer is Dead

Gameplay looks very neat. The visual style in this game is really awesome.

Shinobu's part in NMH2 was kinda lacking; her action just wasn't as fluid as our resident otaku assassin(ESP the jumping stuff),but I heard there were development problems of some sort, so I can let it slide. Certainly given her own title, she'd shine with a little polish. On another note, it'll be good to see what became of her after getting blown off by Travis(if her game is not a prequel), because I felt heartbroken after he had to cut her off.

Yeah, def getting a DMC vibe, maybe a bit of NG. Maneuverability is very important for style when it comes to an action game, and being able to freely dash around as you attack will keep the action smooth.

In other news, the next Japanese trailer is out:

Spoiler:

lol, so now we have alien invaders as enemies here! :p Also, seems like the next trailer is going to show off that "gigolo mode" I mentioned earlier.....

Getting hyped... Looks like hack and slash is picking up again for this year.

Killer is Dead new characters, enemies detailed

Quote:

Mysterious Beauty, Scarlet

Right in the middle of a fight, this mysterious beauty Scarlet appears suddenly right before Mondo’s eyes. She is a sexy nurse who carries a huge syringe filled with a bright color. With her provocative poses and speech, is she attempting to seduce Mondo during an execution mission? Is it an execution, or a moment with a beautiful woman? The player’s distress synchronizes with Mondo’s distress…

Killer 7 meets No More Heroes and bares a child game called Killer is Dead.

marvelB 2013-04-05 23:18

Not exactly related to Killer is Dead, but Siliconera interviews Suda51 and the GungHo CEO on that other mystery title I mentioned a few posts back. Interestingly, it's confirmed right off the bat that the new title is NOT NMH3 (which I suppose means the female MC's resemblance to Shinobu is just a coincidence...). Anyway, reading the interview, it sounds like this new title will be quite an ambitious one! Sure, we've had hack 'n slashers with RPG elements before (and some even still coming our way, like the upcoming Dragon's Crown), but I wonder how this one will be handled?

BTW, the only reason I haven't made a separate thread for this other game yet is because it doesn't even have a title so far. However, I will be sure to make one as soon as we get a name. ;)
