I just checked the promo which, by the way, it would fit a Hollywood Movie Promo perfectly!
The promo also stated which chapter it will follow. Can't wait!

I'm still watching the first season, but I guess I'll skip on to this one...or maybe I should just catch up with the first season...hhmmm
But I'll be looking forward to watching this first episode though.:D

I strongly suggest you finish the first season first, otherwise it could get a little confusing later on. :)
It's finally going to start tomorrow, looking very much forward to it. One thing I definitely hope they can improve on is the music department, as the horror music simply doesn't fit in the final two chapters (just as it didn't fit in the climax scene in the last episode of first series). ;)

i agree with garet on this matter : you should definitely finish season 1 first.
not only it will be confusing, but it will also ruin your "experience", and somes "answers" in season 2 won't always affect you. (since you probably won't have every questions in mind)
geh... gotta stalk the usual "raw haven" :heh:

Many (non-japanese) people seems to have the wrong idea that Higurashi no Naku koro ni is all about blood and pyscho murder horror. It's true that they're some of the elements which made Higurashi stand out, but they are not really the main focus of the series.
So for those who are watching this simply for the body-torning and blood-gashing scenes, you might be a little disappointed in the second series. :heh:
(Though I wouldn't know about the first arc, since it's an anime-original chapter. Who knows, you might be able to see Rena dicing and slicing bodies again. :D)

Just returned from today's Frontier Works event featuring a screening of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai Episode 1.
Spoiler for "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai and Episode 1:
Today's guests were Ryuukishi 07 (creator of the original doujin game and supervisor of the anime series), Nakahara Mai (Rena), and the duo anNina (artist for the ending song). Inoue Kikuko (Mion/Shion's mother) was present for the CLANNAD stage, but didn't appear in the Higurashi event.
For the second season, Ryuukishi 07 personally requested the producers to add the original Yakusamashi-hen prior to the two answer arcs, as to complement the abridged/missing plotlines from the first season.
The opening song, "Naraku no Hana" by Shimamiya Eiko, is a powerful song, but lacks the eerie atmosphere present in the first season. The opening sequence focuses on Rika and Hanyuu, probably a precursor of what to come. Interesting shots of Takano and Rika are worth noting.
The ending song. "Taishou a" by the duo anNina, is a luscious ballad. Although the female vocalist Annabel is half Argentinean, she doesn't sing in English (or Spanish for the matter), unlike the first ending song (which probably doesn't qualify as English anyways). For the ending sequence, Rika and Hanyuu caught my attention once again.
Spoiler for Episode 1:
Episode 1 of the Yakusamashi arc is basically comic relief. The episode centers on the zombie tag (onigokko) scene at school, which is depicted quite true to the game.
We get to see some new scenes, such as:
Satoko inoculating herself with the serum/antidote (fanservice galore).
Rika drinking wine, disguised as grape juice.
Shion transferring to the same school as the gang, upon Satoshi's request to look over Satoko.
Rika talking to Hanyuu (not depicted).
Rika's recollection of the past.
The onigokko scene was so hilarious, I had trouble controlling myself. The nature of the schoolchildren's lies to lure Keiichi out of hiding, Rena's sex appeal, Keiichi's boner, Satoko and Rika's maid cosplay, Keiichi's swan suit, etc.
Topping it all was Irie's dramatic entrance, followed by the introduction of Takano and Ouishi Tomitake. Things start to take a turn for the dramatic towards the end.
In hindsight, the Yakusamashi-hen serves as the filler arc, interwining portions of the question arcs, and subtly adding hints which will lead up to the remaining two answer arcs.
The artwork for Episode 1 was stunningly amazing, not that I had any problems with the first season by Deen. The comedy-centered episode featured extensive SD shots. I just hope the artwork can remain consistent at this level for the remainder of the series.
Upon seeing Episode 1, any reservations I held for the second season was for naught.
Looks like blood has to wait for another day. :p

I agree with you on that (for me, it's all about the mystery), but I'm interested to hear what you believe is the main focus or appeal of Higurashi? (Just curious!)

Sweet.
I've been very careful to avoid any spoilers, haven't even watched the trailer. I can't believe it's finally here!
In the first episode, I'm really looking foward to the improved animation quality and seeing the new opening and ending.

Like you said, I believe the main focus of it is all about mysteries as well, but it stands out by posing questions which are different from other conventional mystery ones (e.g. who's the murderer, how he/she did it etc) for you to solve. Won't go into them too much since they're all spoilers, but I found them very unique. Finding answers to these questions are probably what most viewers find themselves do while watching the series.
