http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6441/titlee.jpg

The new Tales game coming out in the 4th quarter.
Platform: Wii

http://tog.namco-ch.net/

Characters revealed so far:

Muh... The size of the pics I took... differ...
*shrug*

From the left:
1. The protagonist for this game, Asbel Lhant.
Age: 18
Weight: 65kg
Height: 175cm
Voice Actor: Sakurai Takahiro.
He looks like Suzaku and has his voice, but let's all remember him as the poor boy in TOL who apparently had less life in him than an old man.

2. The heroine for this game, Sophie.
Age: Unknown
Weight: 39kg
Height: 148cm
Voice Actor: Hanazawa Kana.
Her setting is the overused and useful "amnesia".
Emil: Me?

3. The real heroine... I mean, Asbel's childhood friend and a butler's granddaughter, Cheria Barnes.
Age: 18
Weight: 47kg
Height: 160cm
Voice Actor: Kawaragi Shiho
Has feelings for Asbel, but not honest to her feelings (tsundere character?).
Speaking of Kawaragi Shiho, when is Cross Days coming out, Overflow?

4. Asbel's brother, Hubert Ozwell.
Age: 17
Weight: 62kg
Height: 171cm
Voice Actor: Mizushima Takahiro
Double Takahiro Time!

By the way, it seems TOG will have the longest story yet.
Which worries me... Instead of graphics and length, I hope they focus more on the scenario quality and characters...
Last time I was told that the game has a long story, it was TOV, and boy, well... If the graphics were the best ever, the scenario was the exact opposite, so I hope this won't be another dejavu of that...

I'm crossing my fingers in hopes of the localized version including an option to change voice overs, though I know it's practically impossible given the past precedents. But it doesn't hurt to hope.. I really want to play Tales of Suzak--Graces with the Japanese voices. ToS: DotW left a bad impression on me.

Lostdreams 2009-08-11 16:27

yeah a tales game for the wiiiii!!!!!!

In that case, I would also hope they keep the OP song, instead of turning it into an instrumental... >_>

Tales of Graces..

It seems as though the "Tales of..." series has grown larger as of lately. There are like over 10 games now and still growing. Most of the new ones seem to be on either the DS or the Wii. Perhaps, I should get a Wii instead as that Monster Hunter 3 is on it, not mentioning FFCC: The Crystal Bearers, as well as a bunch of Capcom games.

That's a lot better than Growlanser V in which they make a new OP entirely.

ack, another tales game in Wii >.<. I guess tales games will appear on Nintendo's product more often than others from now on >.<.

Suzaku did it?

Not sure why but I chuckled. Anyway, I really hope they don't make the story too cliche.. it seems inevitable that every game is going to eventually lead to saving the world but you know.. doesn't hurt to have some other sort of plot device. What will you think of next Namco?

I hope they polish this game, paying attention to the design. I haven't played Tales of Symphonia's sequel yet, but while you can get all the characters from the previous game to join your party, you can't change their equipment at all, which is poorly thought-out.

Tales of Symphonia is the only Tales of game I played. While I enjoyed it, it left a bad taste in my mouth, because while the first part of the game was great, the story really took a nosedive after the Tower of Salvation. Here's hoping that this game does better.

I'm a total Tales nerd. Can't wait for this to come out.
Will this have have a US Localization?

TOS's sequel was really disappointing for a tales game. TOA still remains my favorite. Maybe TOV will hold me over when it comes out for the PS3.

Its impossible to tell if this will have an US localization at this point, but odds are, yes it will.

Also, ToS sequel was incredibly disappointing.

Because of this, Wii is the best platform we could ever hope. Though graphics most likely will not be any better than ToS2's, the undub version will rock.

If the dual audio is not included automatically, but international version will come out, people can easily create undub, unlike in games such as Tales of Vesperia because the data is encrypted in the discs. I for myself hated ToS2's story, but loved the game because I could enjoy Rie Kugimiya being in the tsundere role, so the game was saved for me because of the japanese audio.

... Hmm.. makes me sad. I sold my Wii several months ago, and only after couple days after I heard that Tales of Graces was in production. Oh boy did I feel pissed. Now I'm too broke to purchase Wii, not to mention even the softmodding is not an easy feat to do.

1. If you look at the screenshots, it already looks like the graphics are better. They have more time to develop the game and have more budget too (not to sure on details on the budget).
2. Marta isn't a tsundere...
3. ......................Divine... judgment de~aru.

Tjfarmer 2009-08-16 19:42

Ya, I'm sure a mothership (or whatever you wanna call them) title in the Tales of series, and not a sequel, would get a bigger budget for better everything than ToS2 did.

Well, I'm not sure there.
I've heard that it was TOV's fault because it took away most of the money, leaving TOS-R with a little budget (yet only the graphics ended up good, the mysterious thing).
On the other hand, they could have decided to use less budget because it was an "Escort" title after all. After all, for most people, the thought on "Escort" is "Well, it's an Escort so it can't be helped it was bad". So they could have saved money or slacked off because they knew they would be forgiven for making it. They already tried this stunt during TOT.
And perhaps, they had little budget, so to save face, they decided to announce it as an Escort.

Though in the end, the better budget can only improve the graphics (and maybe system). The storywriter doesn't seem to get better if more money is used as proven by TOV.
So I can hardly say better everything. At the most, graphics (and system). Story and character seems to be a different story. This coming from a person that found everything other than the graphics TOS-R>>TOV though.

1. Well yes, they're better, but considering what Tales of Vesperia looks like, that's how the games SHOULD look like, but I doubt it's possible for such console as Wii.
2. Yes, she is. Atleast some what. Go play the game again and if you still think she isn't, then it's your bad. I don't know if it makes difference if you played it with english dub, that would she actually come across as Tsundere though.
3. What ?

Do you mean installing the Homebrew Channel, or something more complicated? Because installing the Homebrew Channel couldn't be easier these days.

Dist 2009-08-17 08:37

Homebrew Channel couldn't be easier yes. But finding proper cIOS files and Backup Launcher that bypasses the fixes Nintendo has made is not that easy. For example I've been hesitating to by Wii now because I'm uncertain how I'm supposed to mod it again, as I don't have the files either that I used to have.

Backup Launchers etc. can be obtained easily, but cIOS files not so. GBATemp was good source for Wii modding back when I did mine, but now cIOS files are banned on the forum so I can't obtain them and you can't really just try 100 different files till it works.. Well you can but meh.

Not sure about Marta but Anise from "Tales of the Abyss" is a tsundere in the JP version yet she is more of an annoying brat in the NA version due to the localization process. :heh:

3. What ?

1. So they are better. And what? What do you mean by SHOULD?
2. No, she isn't. At the most, she's derederederederetsun. If you want a tsundere, Ratatosk-sama and Richter would fit the definition better.
3. Oh, nothing.
