Finished reading up to the latest translation- Only Kamachi would write a mecha story, yet not make the MC a pilot of said mecha, but still have him destroy them like a boss :eyespin:


The first [Heavy Object] volume came out by the end of 2009, around that time Index had it's first 'war' arc, I seeing some resemblance in the faster paced, larger scale conflict in both of them. In Heavy Object's case it's more streamlined, that is to say the bulk of each chapter, probably 80% is purely delegated to the conflict at hand, and every new chapter jumps to a different conflict in a different setting making it seem episodic. For now this is fine, it's all introductory.

(Does anyone get the feeling he love introducing his settings and crazy ideas more than characters :heh:)


The remaining 20% is that good old Kamachi-style wackiness, epic tsukkomi lines, and romcom scenes :heh: The greatest WTF moment so far has to be the baby penguin intervention in the middle of the gunfight :eyespin: The two MC, Quenser in particular, is really worthy of carrying on the philosophy of 'Fukoda', both in landing themselves in to trouble and getting involved with troublesome girls.




That was a pleasant surprise, from the way he was sexually harrassing Floryietta all the time, you wouldn't think Heivia to be the romantic type :heh:

Quenser on the other hand... Just doesn't quite get it :heh:


P.S - I know I said I would read the story first even if it's in Chinese, but between Heavy Object, Mahouka and Rental Magica, you would think I'm just trying torture myself mentally or something :eyespin: Why can't I just love the simple ones...?

Chapter 2 part 3-4 is out, reading this in English it's not wonder why my eyes exploded while going through the Chinese translation...

Well I got it from Futaba Channel long time ago without knowing it was about Heavy Object series (didn'r read the novel so I was just collecting some charts out of curiosity), just happened I found it on my files.

BTW, Vol.2 Chapter 2 Part 7 and Part 8 were updated by Js06.

Well in any case, the factions themselves are easy enough to deduce.

still... i'm amazed how a makeshift demolition combat engineer could take out a huge object...

I mean its like those depictions in games about world war 2 in which instead of blasting the heavy tank with shitloads of cannons pointed at it, two soldiers just have to jump on the turret, open the hatch, blast the turret occupants and the base operators and then chug HE ordnance inside.

I've only read the manga. The series shows promise, but I'm not sure where it's going. Will probably make time to read the translated LNs soon.

Although for some odd reason the uniforms and gear in the manga version kept making me think of Battlefield 2142...
