Spoiler for Novel 1, Chapter 4:
Chapter 4 –Show Your Manliness, Ninomiya-kun-
The next morning, the breakfast table was a battlefield. It was mostly Mikihiko and his endless blabbering. He was asking the members at the table about how they thought of Shungo’s cooking. Mayu’s seemed to have been in a daze, but answered, after Mikihiko asked her twice, agreeing that it was good. Ryouko said it was average. Mayu, without eating much, left the table with an expression similar to one who was having an out-of-body experience. After she left, the remaining three ate in silence. Shungo started sweating sweat that was not the type that happens when it was hot. He knew this silence was not a good thing. Shungo, without realizing that the two had actually set-up cameras in his room, believed that the two had pieced the situation together thanks to Mayu’s conduct at breakfast. Suddenly, Mikhiko said, “Well, let’s go now, Ryouko-kun.” and both got up. Just as Shungo started to ease up, Mikihiko looks at Shungo and says, “And Shungo-kun, I won’t say much. If something like this happens again, at that time, you understand, right?” Shungo could feel the immense pressure being exerted from Mikihiko. Killing intent is what it could be called. But Shungo knew that he couldn’t just clam up… “I… I, too, am not doing this because I like it. Living together with a girl I met for the first time, risking my life to protect that girl, and if I had to make an complaint, you blackmail me with a weird video you took. Why do I have to be treated this way? First of all, do I even have a responsibility in any of this? The fact that she has androphobia has no relation with me, right? I’m fed up. I’m out of this. I’m getting out of this no matter what you say. You guys can do the rest!” Before he knew it, he had knocked down his chair and was standing up. Both of his hands hurt from pounding the table and he was breathing like he had run a marathon. Shungo prepared himself for their counterattack. But strangely, the two older siblings were just standing there. “……I don’t want to do anything serious, but…” “…Let’s talk about Mayu for a little bit” “Mikihiko” “No, it’s fine. I want to say this.” Mikihiko begins his story……… “It has already been ten years. At that time, Mayu was really just a normal girl. She was as kind as she is now, and laughed much more than she does now. “I… see…” < - - Shungo here “We lost our parents at an early age, you see. Also, at the same time, I was already flying around the world for my job. Because of that, I couldn’t take care of her very much. She was at an age where one wanted to be taken care of. It must have been lonely. But that never appeared on her face. The family that took care of Mayu treated her really well. But just like that, because her personality makes her careful, she worried about others more than herself. Putting aside her facial expressions, I bet those days were not easy.” “In that house, there was a boy. He was in a similar situation as Mayu and was being taken care of. And naturally, Mayu began to like that boy. But that was the key to the whole thing. But because of what she is, she drained the life energy of that boy she loved. But there was also another problem. I told you, right? She cannot control her own powers. Well then, what do you think happened to the boy who’s life energy was drained by her? Is an explanation even necessary? It was easy to guess what she was feeling at that time. She was crushed by what she did and closed her heart. And then, for a while… Sorry, but I can’t say. I don’t like remembering what happened at that time. From ten years ago to now, this is my one and only trauma. After several years, Mayu was able to recover. But her personality had changed considerably, and her memories of the time before were hazy. She was able to remember about the boy she loved, but the memories of what she did to that boy and what happened afterwards to that boy were suppressed. All that was left was a fear of men, and from that, an extremely fearing heart. Soon afterwards, she would leave this country, enter a boarding school under direct control of a convent, and never had contact with another male except me. Until several days ago, she ever took a step out of there. If I had not forcibly dragged her here, she probably would have stay closed up there until she died.” “But think about it. What is it like for a young girl, by herself, to live in a world that was separated and hidden from the outside world? Not only that, but she wasn’t a religious follower. Even more, she lived a life where she never got involved in religion. Also, there is something I never told you before. People like us (succubus/incubus) have an withdrawal symptom. During the symptoms’ period, the degrees of the symptoms are considerably different between people. It would never show on my sister’s face though. So I don’t know how bad it was for my sister. Let’s use me, who share the same genes as her, for example. Out of curiosity, I tried it once… I didn’t last five minutes. What I’m trying to point out is that she was stricken by such symptoms similar to mine and the amount of life energy I share with her could not suppress her withdrawal symptoms. Let me confess something. I warned my sister many times. ‘Don’t think about what will happen to the other person.’ ‘Consider it the same as eating.’ ‘It doesn’t matter who. Just go drain some man’s life energy. I will carry the burden of your sin.’ But whenever I say something like that, Mayu does not agree or oppose. She just puts on this extremely sad face. Should I confess some more? If it’s for my sister’s sake, I would do as many unforgivable acts as needed. Once, I-” “That’s enough, Mikihiko” With that one sentence, Mikihiko stopped. “Hmm, did I push the joke too far?” Mikihiko walks towards Shungo with a pained smile on his face. “Oh, from that look on your face, you completely believed it, huh? Well, if you believe it, then all the better. Did you sympathize? You sympathized, right? If you did, then please put that into physical form. I’m counting on you.” Mikihiko and Ryouko leave. Shungo just stood there, with both hands still on the table, looking at their backs with a feeling like he was just tricked by a fox. --- Shungo was walking to school, ten meters away from Mayu. He though it was unfair. He should be the victim here, but yet he has this feeling. He felt guilty, and on top of that, in the middle of self-loathing. He tried many times to convince himself that he had the right to do what he did and was right. But it didn’t really work out. He could easily see that his “Any man is fine” remark last night was probably the worst thing he could say to her. What’s was hurting him the most was her “I did not want you to think of me like that”. He continues to think about this, Mayu’s situation, and what he meant to her, and when he realized it, he was at Jinguuji Academy’s gate. Nn? He realized that “it” was not there. But as he thought this, he saw that Houjou Reika was there. Hosaka was beside her too. But she was not verbally attacking him like she usually did. Even after greeting her, she merely greeted him and turned around. She did give him a glare that jabbed at him like needles, but that was it. What bothered him was right before she did turn around. She had glared at Mayu with an abnormal amount of force. But the next moment, she returned to a state of carefreeness and laughed with her nose, and forgot to greet her (Mayu). Shungo glanced at Hosaka, looking for an answer, but it did no good. He ignored the bad feeling he had in his heart and followed after Mayu. When Mayu entered the classroom, the men started to shout and make a ruckus, but quieted down almost immediately. The atmosphere around Mayu was clearly so gloomy that no one could start getting excited. Even her fanclub, who came to visit her from other classrooms, felt that mood that leaked from the classroom and did not come in.. --- Meanwhile, a figure was walking in the courtyard of the school. It was the principal of Jinguuji Academy. Ever since yesterday, he was in a bad mood. The reason was because of two employees that had just been hired. He did not like how they did not care if they did something to be hated by the principal, who was practically an existence like god at the academy, and he did not like how they were a beautiful man and woman who instantly became really popular. This left him, the principal, out. Also, there was no warning or anything. All of a sudden, one morning, he received the notice about them. The principal thought that he had plenty of time to teach the two just what position they were in. But speak of the devil, he saw the new janitor. The janitor was holding a broom and looked like he was cleaning around the place, but he was surrounded by female students. The principal wet his tongue. The janitor saw him. “Oh, Principal” “Tsukimura-kun, what is the meaning of this?” He says, while looking at the female students who clearly were making detesting looks at him. “I’m not paying you for you to do these things. If you don’t want to be fired, then go back to your own work.” The janitor laughs and says, “Well, everyone, I have to go back to cleaning. If we talk anymore, I’ll be bullied by the principal.” The female students went “Ehh” and left while whispering stuff like “Even though he’s just a baldy” and “Even though he’s just an old man”. The principal shouts at them, scaring them off. He then turns to the janitor. The principal tries to exert his pressure on the janitor, but it seemed to have no effect as the janitor as he retuned to cleaning. The principal leaves the place, grumpier than ever because he failed to tame that man. But suddenly, the pulsing of his heart went strange. He had high blood pressure. He had gone to the doctor before, but this was the first time the symptoms appeared. He stumbled to the infirmary, only to make a annoyed face. The infirmary was clearly overloaded with male students. The principal shouts at them, and the reaction from them were the same as the females, “Even though he’s just a baldy” and “Even though he’s just an old man”. With “Ninomiya-sensei’s” help, they left the infirmary. The nurse inspects the principal. He tells her what she asked, and she pulls out some medicine for him. The principal tells her to be more polite with him (she’s using –san instead of –sensei), but she completely ignores him. To top that, she forces him to promise her on eating following a guide, quitting smoking and drinking, etc. before she gave him the medicine. After he left the infirmary, the medicine she gave him started working. He did not like that. He heads towards his office, thinking about what he should do with those two. --- A unthinkable guest was waiting for him. It was Houjou Yoshinobu. Behinds him were two bodyguards. “Just what had he come here for?” is what the principal was thinking. Yoshinobu talks about how Reika liked this school and how at first he didn’t really accept such choice, but decided it was a right one later. Yoshinobu says that his reason for being here was to help the school. He pulls out a check. He tells the principal to use it as funds for the school. Rather than acting as funds for the school, the amount written on the check could buy the entire school itself. The principal modestly tells Yoshinobu that he only needs the necessary amount. Yoshinobu then goes “Well, then this is yours.” The principal’s throat went dry and his tension flew straight up. The principal tells Yoshinobu that he will go prepare some drinks. He calls for someone (on the phone). After 10th call, someone picks up. It was the janitor. He tells him to get bring some tea. The principal goes back to Yoshinobu. Yoshinobu talks about the new transfer student. Suddenly, a knock sounded on the door and the janitor came in. Seeing the janitor, Yoshinobu and his two guards went into a state of fear. The janitor greeted Yoshinobu, and in the middle of his greeting, managed to sneak in a “I made you nearly die”. It seems they know each other. The principal carries Yoshinobu, who wasn’t looking too well, to the infirmary. There, Yoshinobu and his two guards’ faces went completely white. The nurse goes “It’s been a while.” And started talking about how interesting his daughter was. Yoshinobu pleads her to leave his daughter alone, and quickly runs out of the infirmary. Yoshinobu tells the principal to get transfer papers for Reika. He does not want his daughter going to this school. He asked for the name of the new transfer student. Upon hearing that it was “Tsukimura”, he announced that he will not get involved with the school, taking back the money he had previously handed out. The principal asked about the check, but Yoshinobu was already running full speed out of the school and did not listen. Behind him, he heard the voices of the two new employees. “Oh my, what a busy person. He should calm down a but.” “You’re right. This was such a good opportunity. He should have played here a bit more.” All the principal could do was stare at his employees with a white face… --- Near afternoon, while heading to the student council room, Reika was screaming with all her might. “What is the meaning of all this?!” Her father had called and told her to drop out of that school. “It’s dangerous staying there. Come home right now.” He said. Reika had also heard about someone who wants to meet her, from a member of the student council. Hosaka, knowing who the person is, knew it was too late, and followed Reika. Hosaka was ordered to leave her. But his duty is not to leave her side no matter how much she ordered him, so he stayed outside of the student council room while she called someone inside. He could hear what she was saying. It seems like she was making a deal with someone. It’s probably useless to stop her… right?, Hosaka thought. Ninomiya Shungo, Tsukimura Mayu… These two were people that his master should completely avoid. --- Now, it’s after school. This was a horrible day Shungo sighed deeply as he chased after Mayu, who left the classroom as if to escape from someone. Throughout the day, Mayu had not talked to him or meet his eyes. Of course, there was no chaos today either, thanks to the atmosphere around her. Shungo wanted to do something about this situation. But he was hesitant. It’s fine this way, right? He thought. If he stays on bad terms with her, she’ll leave the Ninomiya house. As Shungo was immersed in his thoughts, someone called for him. It was a guy he knew. The boy asked Shungo to help him. Shungo thought about declining, but he rethought. He looks as Mayu’s back. Yes, it’s fine this way. --- That student did not know the consequences of his action. And Shungo did not know that the student was asked by Houjou Reika to do such a thing. --- As Mayu left the school building, she turned around. There were many students changing their shoes and leaving the school. The females and males both were moving as to avoid her and the voices of some of the male students could be heard. “You go.” “You idiot, why don’t you go?” Mayu looks around for someone, but she soon gives up and leaves. On the way back to the Ninomiya house, she constantly was concerned with what was behind her. She suddenly looked a little brighter. As if she was lured by something, she turned around. She stiffened instantly. There was a man following her. His hair was dyed red, his face had numerous piercings on it, and he was looking at her while laughing and chewing something. Mayu’s face turns blue and she speeds up her pace. But she stopped soon. There were several men, similar to the one with red hair, waiting as if to block her. She looked for a place to run and found a small path that a car could barely fit through. But before she could go ten meters, she stopped and turned around. A minivan had appeared and now all of her escape routes were sealed. Mayu looked at the men as if asking for help. A shadow of a person appeared in between the men. “How do you do, Tsukimura-san?” It was Houjou Reika. “Come with me for a moment.” After she says that, the goons she hired closed in on Mayu while laughing coarsely. That was the limit. Mayu closed her eyes as if she went to sleep and collapsed on the spot. “Well, carry her.” The men went “Got it” and leaned over to Mayu. Hmph, no regard to others Reika whispers and turns around when she heard heavy sounds of “dosu, dosu” behind her, around where Mayu was. She turns around to see that her goons had collapsed on the spot. “Did anyone see what was going on?” Reika asked. One of her goons explained to her in confused voice that he had no idea. “…..Anyways, it doesn’t change what we have to do. The remaining people should go pick up the fainted. Start with this girl.” The remaining men surround Mayu, but they were all hesitant. But thanks to Reika, they ended up grabbing her. …. …. The remaining men looked at each other strangely. Then they silently looked at their employer. In the end, Reika ended up putting her courage to the test. --- There was a memo in his locker. There was a signature by Houjou Reika. His thoughts went into full gear. Then he realized that all he was thinking was about himself and the penalty he would receive. He thought about Mayu and realized that he might have never actually truly worried about her. If she was in his position, what would she do? Shungo wondered: “What have I done for her?” “What can I do for her?” --- Not so far from the Jinguuji Academy, separated from the residential area, in a rather run-down place… Hosaka was reconfirming the plan. Reika was standing up with her arms crossed. Behind her was Mayu. She was awake now, but she was not bound by anything and only sat darkly, with two goons around her. It seems that if Shungo could take Mayu back, then it would be his win. If he could not, then it was Reika’s win. Around twenty men were stationed around the area to wait for Shungo. Mayu finally opened her mouth and asked Reika what she was planning to do to Shungo. Reika simply said that she was going to lure him out and have him beat up. This was because she thought that she needed to correct his attitude towards her and realize how amazing she was. Then Hosaka pointed out that Shungo might not come. “……Well, if that’s the case, then Ninomiya-kun won’t come.” < - - Hosaka “Won’t come? Hmph, well, that might be true. As it stands, I don’t mind winning without a fight.” “………” Turning to Mayu, Reika goes… “For a girl like you, I doubt that Ninomiya Shungo will take a risk. That’s because it’s obvious that man doesn’t think anything of you.” “I.., I’m just a burden. I only bother Ninomiya-kun. I’m an idiot, a blockhead, airheaded, and clumsy.” “Oh. You do understand properly” “I bothered him through all of yesterday. I soaked the kitchen.” “Oh my. That sure is some failure rate. You really do fail at living together with that man.” “Also, I hugged Ninomiya-kun while half-asleep.” “……Ha? What did you say?” “I also fainted, and Ninomiya-kun carried me to the infirmary.” “Wha…” “I was at fault for going into a daze when he took off my bath towel in the bath.” “……………..” “It’s obvious that he would hate me. There’s no way he would come save me……” “Hosaka” “Yes?” “Dismember this girl and throw her in the ocean.” “……Ojou-sama, you promised not to lay a hand on her.” “That doesn’t matter anymore. I will never, never, never, neeeeeeeeeeeeeeever forgive this girl!” “But the heir to Houjou Corporation has to protect her promises, or her subordinates won’t be able to trust her.” “Hosaka, you are my servant. You can at least ignore that promise!” “That makes no sense…… First of all, I didn’t make the promise, you did. Wa-wait. Don’t rush. Don’t dirty your own hands…” “Sorry to interrupt you.” “I’ve come to take Tsukimura-san back.” It was Ninomiya Shungo. “Eh? No way.” Went Reika. “Unnn, that was fast.” Went Hosaka. Mayu’s reaction changed rapidly; her expression started from surprise, became relief, and quieted down upon remembering something. It seems that Shungo had managed to take down all of the guards without too much of a scratch. Upon seeing Mayu, Shungo bended forty-five degrees down and said, “Tsukimura-san. I said too much yesterday. Sorry.” After gaping for several seconds, Mayu replied, “No-no. Not at all. I kept causing you trouble, so it’s natural for you to be angry and hate me, but I couldn’t stand us avoiding each other, that’s why…… Anyways, I’m sorry too!” “No, that was my fault. I apologize.” “No, that was me…” “You’re wrong. That was me being insensitive and-” But Reika finally butted in. She then tells Hosaka to call in her reinforcements. Two men come out. But in no time, Shungo had defeated them. Shocked by this, Reika tries to take Mayu hostage, but she never was fully intent on such things and Shungo threatened her. Troubled by all of this, Reika was determined not to lose and asks Hosaka to do something. Hosaka confirms with her numerous times that she was not going to give up and goes up to Shungo and says, “I guess it can’t be helped. I’m the only one left. Can’t I be your opponent?” Shungo realized that Hosaka was fully ready to fight and took him on. Shungo decided to hurt Hosaka as little as possible. Shungo had underestimated him. In return, the one who was flung back was not Hosaka, but Shungo himself. Trying to fight again, he was pounded back into the ground by Hosaka. His eyes closed instinctively. When he opened his eyes, Hosaka’s hands were at his neck. The fight was finished. “……Hosaka-senpai” “Nn?” “What are you?” “A servant of the Houjou family.” “By the way, Ninomiya-kun… This type of power is something you try to use as little as possible, right? But there are circumstances in which you have to use it. Of course, once you use it, you have to win. And…” “If it’s possible, you need to eliminate the person who knows about your power.” “Wa-wait. Hosaka?” “That’s no good, Ojou-sama. I heard you properly. It was ‘do whatever you need’, right? I told you that I wouldn’t accept a change of heart, right?” Hosaka interrupted Reika’s reply. “Ninomiya-kun, I didn’t want to put my hands on a member of the Ninomiyas, but this is what Ojou-sama told me to do. It wouldn’t be good to do nothing if Hosaka got defeated if front of her.” Shungo wondered how he could get out of this situation. Hosaka continued: “Well, what should I do? I’m in front of Ojou-sama so I don’t want to do anything violent, but I only know how to do things violently.” Shungo decided on what he needed to do. Hosaka still continued: “Oh yeah, I need to say this. Ninomiya-kun, you were far stronger than I thought. You really do have potential, and… Nn?” It was Mayu. She was standing, trembling all over with a blue… no, white face. What is she trying to do? Shungo thought. Then he understood. Mayu closed her eyes and grabbed Hosaka’s arm. “Um… What? Move aside? No, this is that type of fight. Eh, what?” “What… is… this…?” Even to someone like Hosaka, that was the limit. He crumpled to the ground, and Mayu followed him afterwards. At that time, Shungo had definitely saw it. The succubus who was about to faint… had looked at him with a slightly triumphant look on her face. The fight was finished. Spoiler for Novel 1, Chapter 5 (END):
Chapter 5 –My Condolences, Ninomiya-kun-
Is this something to praise, or is it something to scold about? Normally, it would be an impossible story. Just what type of training does he do? Shortly after fainting, Hosaka was able to regain his consciousness. Hosaka wondered what had happened. He felt sorry for Reika, but by losing he didn’t have to get violent. Instinctively, he tried to confirm the situation. But his body felt like mud, and he was stuck on the ground, smelling the concrete. He heard noises of frustration from his master, Reika. He heard another voice too, laughing. “Oh dear, too bad for you, Reika-chan” “Can you not call people by their name like you’re friends with them?” “It doesn’t matter right? Because from today, I’m your master.” “You did not teach me, right? About Ninomiya Shungo’s full power?” “That’s because that wasn’t even close to his full power. Those people were able to land even two hits. Geez, the moment I go easy on him, he weakens like that. I think I have to retrain him again~” “Thi-this fight wasn’t fair in the first place. And that girl called Tsukimura Mayu. That was-” “Oh? An excuse? From Houjou Reika? From the successor of the Houjou Family? If you’re like that, just how will the lower people obey you, who stands above others?” “And besides, you had Hosaka and three other people with you… Aah, I see. That’s right. That isn’t fair. You had much more of an advantage. That’s why you accepted the bet in the first place, right? Eh? I’m wrong? Don’t tell me you were unprepared? In a bet that risked your future? No way, don’t tell me, right?” “I am the successor to Houjou Corporation and the Student Council President. That’s why I’m busy…” “Too bad for you, but starting tomorrow, that will be you part-time job. It’ll be troublesome from now on, Reika-chan. You’ll have to handle both this and your official job from now on.” “Thi-this is ridiculous! Do you think my father, leader of Houjou Corporation, would allow something like that?” “Ah, we already got permission from Houjou-san. He accepted it after answering twice. With a face like he’s about to cry. If you want, we can go check.” “My father? Just what-” No matter how different his training style was, this was his limit. Hosaka’s consciousness was, once again, crushed by darkness. --- Shungo was carrying Mayu, still unconscious, on his back. People were staring and giggling at him, and his body felt slow and weak, but Shungo felt that it wasn’t really all that bad. When he got to her room, Mayu went, “Ah, here is fine.” It’s possible that she had long been conscious again. Shungo put her down. Mayu said her thanks to Shungo, and Shungo noticed that she seemed to have changed a bit. She was a bit brighter and was able to say what she wanted without stuttering. Mayu decides to go to sleep and wait for her brother so he could transfer some of his life energy to her. Seeing that Mayu wanted to changed, Shungo tries to leave the room. Mayu tells him that he only needs to turn around. He does so. He hears noise of clothes falling to the ground. After the noise stopped and Mayu was finished, Shungo tries to take his leave, but Mayu tells him that she needs to ask a favor. Determinedly, she said: “Will you do it?” “Ha?” There’s still time until my brother comes home. Also, I can’t always rely on my brother. That’s why…” “That-that means…” “I was never really scared of you from the first time we met, or maybe you could say that I was relieved, or maybe you could say I was glad. Someone like that… Ninomiya-kun is the only one. That’s why there’s no one else I can ask to do this.” “But when I’m conscious, I’m no good with men. But when I’m unconscious, I’m probably okay. That’s why, um, when I’m asleep, um…” “Something like this isn’t something I do with just anybody, but if it’s Ninomiya-kun, um…” “…………” “Of course, I think that’s the same with you… That’s why, um, I won’t force you…… If you want, then it’s fine.” “…………” “Eeto, ano, eeto, ano (< -- Japanese language sound), Well, I’ll be waiting. Good night.” “…………” “…………” That’s why I said it. It’s impossible to live together. If we’re under the same roof… If we are under the same roof… Facing away from the sunset, Shungo had turned to stone. --- Two hours pass. The set had set long ago. Shungo was still petrified. But that was only the outside appearance. Inside was a different story. Right now, the angel Shungo was fighting the final battle against the devil Shungo. Go, Ninomiya Shungo. The angel won. Shungo quit being a rock. In the moonlight, Shungo slowly walked to the bed and stared at the pure, sleeping face. There was still one thing to settle first. “……You two, don’t misunderstand.” He said to the digital camera staring at him. “This was something she asked of me.” “You don’t have to tell everyone. We already understand the situation, Shungo-kun.” Shungo didn’t bother to ask why they know. “If you understand, then-” “In this short period, my sister sure changed quite a lot. It is above our expectations that she would get to the point of being able to invite a guy. I’m grateful to you.” “Well, Mayu-chan was the one that worked hard, not you though. Now, if you’re going to do it, hurry up. We’re busy too, you know.” Ignoring that, “That’s enough. Get out.” After a few finishing lines, the two left. Shungo had not turned around even once. He starts to near her face. Shungo starts to get nervous again. Getting close enough to smell her scent, he suddenly stopped and thought that he shouldn’t do this. But without caring, he closed in. But then he thought that this was bad. He goes into a state of deep thought again. Finally, he decided. He aims for Mayu’s pajamas and… “I forgot to tell you one thing.” Mikihiko whispered in his ears. Complete stop. But Shungo did not lose to him. Ignoring it, he continued. Mikihiko bombards him with information, Shungo did not stop. But Mikihiko got to “My sister cannot control her ability to drain life energy by touching others, which she has done many times. Do you think that she could control a power she had never used before right away?” (Shungo was trying to kiss Mayu) Shungo stopped. Mikihiko finished his long speech and left the room. Shungo collapsed to pieces. All that was left was the moonlight in the dark room. --- At night, as a new day was to dawn… The masterminds of the events were talking to each other. You could hear them talking about: -They did not want to forcibly make Mayu remembering that she drove the person she loved (a long time ago) to the verge of death with just a kiss -Shungo really was a member of the Ninomiya family to survive Mayu draining his life energy a long time ago. -Even if the memories were sealed away, the traces are left in both Mayu and Shungo. -The Houjou family’s genes -The world’s power balance will change greatly --- The new day finally starts. He recalls yesterday’s events. He then realizes that no one was in the bed (he was still in Mayu’s room). He had overslept. He went to open the door. “Kyaa!” It was Mayu, wearing an apron and sailer uniform. They were able to clear up the events of yesterday. Mayu was able to figure out that something had happened and that Shungo had not done anything to her. For once, the atmosphere around the two was not so awkward. There was no reason to decline anymore, so when she asked once more, Shungo allowed her to help cook if he ever overslept again. With everything settled with Mayu, Shungo no longer had to worry about being blackmailed by the two older siblings with the digital camera. He was able to fully enjoy the morning atmosphere. As he ran down the stairs, Shungo instinctively went, “Ah, good morning, Sempai.” Shungo turned around. There was no one there. He thought he had passed someone, but he shrugged it off as his imagination. Happily, Shungo goes to the table to eat breakfast. There was a familiar person there. It was Hosaka Mitsuru. He then heard another pair of voices. One was Houjou Reika. Ryouko, who was playing around with Reika, introduces her. “Let me introduce her, Shungo. She is the helper that will be living with us from now on.” “Ha?” “Helper?” “Yep. You said you needed a helper. So here.” “Houjou-sempai, living with us?” “Yep” “Why did you…?” As Shungo expected, she answered, “Because it’s interesting that way.” “Ahh! Geez, I refuse to do this!” “This is unreasonable! Definitely unreasonably! I have to wear these clothes. Besides, what is this? Isn’t this what my maids wear?” “That’s right. I got it from Houjou-san.” “This isn’t something for me to wear!” “Even while saying that, you wear it.” “That’s because you forced me into it and-” “You let out a cute voice.” “That’s because you were touching strange places…… Hey, that doesn’t even matter!” “It’s so mysterious. Why do you hate it so much? With this, you have an official reason to live in the same house as Shungo, right?” “Wh-wh-wh-wh-why would I need such a reason, there’s no connection-” “Oh, that’s right. I received this from Houjou-san.” “! Why do you have that picture?! Only my father and I-!” “There are more, like this, or this. Shungo, come here for a moment. I’ll let you see something good.” “Noooooooooooo! Stopstopstopstop!” “Hahaha, well, well, it sure got loud suddenly. Oh? A chime. You guys seem busy, so I’ll go take a look.” “Yes, thanks, Mikihiko. Now, Reika-chan, if you don’t want me spreading this picture around the world, hurry up and put in some coffee. Cleaning can come later.” “This is so frustrating!!!!!!!!!! You better remember this!” “You really can’t give up, huh? If you really can’t be satisfied, why don’t you directly talk to your father? You can use the phone.” “By the way, Ryouko-san. It’s about the continuation of our conversation a while ago.” “What was it, Hosaka-kun?” “Can I live in this house too? I am Reika-ojou-sama’s servant after all.” “I don’t mind, but I’ll have you work as a helper too. Three meals a day, 200 yen a day. This way, it’ll be just like your master. No complaints, right?” “Yes, I understand.” “Well, get your nutrition while you can.” “Yes, I’ll do that.” “Hey, Shungo. Just standing there is making you a bother. Hurry up and eat breakfast. When your done, I’ll deal out the penalty for oversleeping.” “Father! Father! I’ve asked you for help so many times, why- Wait, Father, ‘I’ll think that you’ve never been born’ means what? Hello? Hello, Father?” “These pickled vegetables are delicious. Did you (Tsukimura-san) make this?” “No, I only pickled it. Ninomiya-kun, the nugamono. Um, Hosaka-kun, sorry for yesterday.” “No, I don’t mind. Anyways, it’s amazing. Ninomiya-kun. You are responsible for nugadono too… See, Ojou-sama, if we stay here, we can eat delicious pickled vegetables everyday. Want one?” “Hosaka, you idiot!” I’m suffering like this, and you-” “Gue, Ojou-sama, my stomach-” “Heey, Shungo-kun, you have guests. I invited them in from the entry hall.” “Hey, Ninomiya. We received an anonymously sent video of you pushing Tsukimura-san down. Explain what this all means. Until we get a satisfying answer, we won’t move from this place. Right, Inoue?” “It’s just like Yoshida says. Not only that, along with the video, came a letter that told us you slept in the same room as Tsukimura-san. What the heck? Well, even if we get a satisfying answer, we have decided to annihilate you, right, Ayakawa?” “That’s right. And also, the video was sent around the whole class, no offense. They said that the reason Tsukimura-san was so depressed yesterday was because you pushed her down. The class was so stirred up. Be prepared when you go to school. As atonement, we’ve decided to have you be a nude model during today’s art class.” “Hahaha, Shungo-kun. We never promised not to show anyone that video, right? Don’t look at me like that.” “Ohh! Tsukimura-san with an apron!” “Ah, wait, Tsukimura-san, we won’t do anything or get close to you. We’re just going stay at a distance. Don’t run away and let use look at you some more!” “Where are Ninomiya-kun and Mikihiko-san’s bedrooms? I have to get at least one pair of underwear to brag to everyone about.” “Oh, isn’t this the student council president? What are you doing here?” “Eh? Th-this isn’t what you think. There’s a reason for this.” “And what is that embarrassing outfit?” “N-noooooooooooo! Don’t look! Don’t look at me when I’m this disgraced!” “Hey, Reika-chan, is the coffee ready? And Shungo, just how long do you plan to stand there? No breakfast for you. Hey, are you listening?” “……………………” Shungo should… Say something to this chaotic mess. Taking all of this in, he sighed deeply. Spoiler for Novel 8, Chapter 1:
First, from what I read, volume 8 takes place 3 days after Shungo gets kidnapped by someone at Kyouto during the school trip.
Anyways... The chapter- Chapter 1 -Strike- It starts out with Reika, with Shinobu and Mitsuru, gathering her troops to invade the place/mansion where the kidnapper was supposed to be. The kidnapper is supposed to live in the underworld of the underworld and has nicknames like Blood Princess and Queen of the White Night. We get some monologue about Reika missing Shungo. Also, there is dialogue about how Reika says she is only worried about Shungo because she needs him to test a new drink her company made.:heh: When she bursts in, she finds...... Mikihiko and Ryouko  , drinking tea and playing chess. Reika questions them pn what's going on, but they talk with words like that person or that thing, without saying the truth. After Reika continues to question them, they get serious and decide to talk with her. They say that the person who took Shungo was "Hildegart Fon Hatenshutain", a female who was one of the most superior Kamui and held enough influence/power to destroy the world. It seems she is royalty, as well. --- Back at the Ninomiya house, Mayu was depressed, thinking about how powerless she was, and about the other her inside of her. Then, a car appears. The man who comes out starts talking to himself about how all of the other 10 clans besides him at Kyoto will self-destruct, and Ryouko and Mikihiko are out of the picture. As he was mumbling to himself, a helicopter arrives. The person that appears was a golden-haired, blue-eyed little girl, Hildegart A.K.A. Hilda. The man tells her that there was an alliance and negotiations and such going on, but she doesn't care and makes him shut up. In the helicopter, Shungo was there and not in good condition... Mayu does not have time to celebrate because Hilda goes up to her and checks her out. Then she puts her hand inside Mayu's skirt. :twitch: To be more procise, the inside of the inside. Hilda speaks her mind about she doesn't know whether she should be surprised or annoyed that Mayu was a virgin. :twitch: During the whole thing, Mayu and Shungo were in shock. Afterwards, Mayu cries. Her butlers, an old man called "Gyunta Rozenhyme" and a red-haired girl resembling Signum from Nanoha called "Sharlotte Rozenhyme" appear to carry her stuff, etc. and moves into Ninomiya's house. She often calls Shungo a "Shinsei", which is an incubus that doesn't require life energy. Later, in the house, she reveals why she is here. She kisses Shungo and drains his life force, but afterwards, Shungo realized that he was okay. But he wonders why she can do that, since it was impossible for succubuses to drain the life force of supernatural beings, with Mayu being the exception. She says that she can drain life energy and return it. She was here to teach Mayu how to do this. But in return, Ryouko and Mikihiko had to sell Shungo to her. :twitch: She tells him to resist all she wants and acts annoying and sadisticly. Days pass and Hilda doesn't teach Mayu. Sharlotte was called on by Hilda to look after Mayu, who was still crying... She tells Shungo that she came all of this way to the house out of boredom, and she wants him to find a way to entertain her. If hs entertains her, she would teach Mayu. She tells him to find a way in three days, or she'll demote him from servant to slave and work him to death. --- Thoughts so far- If this volume happens during/after the school trip, then the anime might get there if the school trip happens soon. Though I doubt it. Hilda is really annoying, with her habit of using "kisama" for other people and her "I'm too good for other people" attitude. BIG minus points to Mikihiko and Ryouko for selling Shungo. Shungo could be a "shinsei"... Mayu is a special succubus, but Hilda is even more so... -----------11/18 (Old part of post) First chapter of the first novel now summarized! It differs a bit from the anime, and there were a few things (somewhat important) that the anime never put in. Parting comment for now: I'm beginning to dislike Mikihiko and Ryouko. :upset: Next chapter- "Sandbag Ninomiya-kun" |
Quote:
the guy freakin sold his son for food:heh: well you shouldn't take them seriously as they did it for comedic purpose anyway |
Chapter 2 has been summarized.
(Kind of feel pathetic that this is all I can do. But translation would take 10x+ longer than a summary and take up 43x+ more space than a summary...) Chapter 2 was pretty much really different from the anime, though the anime used some parts of the novel while shortening it. This chapter features: Spoiler for not a spoiler if you are watching the anime:
The mysterious flashbacks...
Mayu's "other" self Though once again, these were used in a different way. The main thing that's good about the anime over the novel is that the anime doesn't go into overly long drawn-out thoughts and descriptions which are a pain and bore to read. Though the novel has more material, like Spoiler for something the anime hasn't touched on, but probably never will and doesn't seem to care:
How Mikihiko shares his life energy with Mayu through skin contact and the other way to provide life energy besides him.
Parting comment: Poor Shungo. :( Next time - That's Bad, Ninomiya-kun (Thankfully, it's 40 pages less than this chapter...) |

Spoiler:
From the above qoute and what you've summerized on the first 2 chapters of book 1 I'm realy geting the idea that this is likely going to end with a heram ending . First, this house is unbeliveably large for their family it has at least 7 bedrooms (one for Ryouko, Mayu, Reika, Shinobu , Hosaka and now one for Hilda. Shungo and Mikihiko may have thier own rooms which brings the count up to 9 just 1 short of the # of clans. Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun indeed. no wonder he has been in training harder then most action heroes, he'll need it just to live through his love life.) Second, Ryouko and Mikihiko seem to be doing everything in thier powers to add to the hearm instaed of trying to drive off what should be threats to, at the very least, Mikihiko's plan of getting Mayu with Shungo. |
Quote:
well from what I get Mayu and Shungo share a room and bed. So that would be 1 less room. |
Maybe, as I said there are at least 7 bedrooms in the house and thats only takeing in to acount on what the current sleeping arangments are.
|
Chapter 3 is done~~
The beginning and middle were rather boring, though the whole Mayu/Shungo conversation at the end (not existing in the anime, of course) made up for it, greatly so. Until... Ryouko and Mikihiko's scene afterwards... GAHHHHHHHHH! That's annyoing. DO-THEY-HAVE-TO-BE-MEDDLESOME?!! :frustrated: I GET IT! IT'S INTERESTING! NOW LEAVE THOSE TWO ALONE!! Next time - Show Your Manliness, Ninomiya-kun And I hope Ryouko and Mikihiko stay out of everything. |
I look forward to more translations from you, seeing as the anime will end soon and I doubt it'll tie all the loose ends and whatnot.
|
question is what is happening in the anime for ep 11+ based on the novels or is it just made for it to rap up the plot?
|
It's made up. The novels have a Beatrice look a like and Shungo gets kidnaped in Kyouto
|
Chapters 4 and 5 are done.
Overall, it wasn't too bad, except for the older siblings. -Mikihiko was almost amazing during his speech at the beginning of chapter 4. For once, he wasn't a buffoon. -A completely different way to how Reika gets blackmailed into a maid than the anime (a better way too) -Reika was much more of a egomaniac in the novel... -_- -Just like the last episode, a "Mitsuru vs. Shungo with Mayu bothering" except the novel Mayu proves to be smarter than the anime version-She doesn't decide to become a punching bag. -It's kind of amazing. Just how many episodes did the anime take to slowly reveal the relationship between Mayu and Shungo? The novel did it in 1 novel, and at that, less than 5 pages! Of course, specific details are not revealed yet(I'm not going to trust the anime on this). -It's good that the novel doesn't ignore the fact that Reika has parents (unlike the anime), no matter how sad they are... -Let me say it again... Ryouko Ninomiya and Mikihiko Tsukimura are damn sadistic bastards that would ruin anyone's freakin' life just for their own pleasure. It's a shame the author decides to make them that way, because the enjoyment value of the novel dives downwards whenever they open their damn mouths. :frustrated::frustrated::frustrated: *cough* Anyways, Moved the summaries to the next post because there is a "word limit" to a post... Added one term to the BIG spoiler tag, just for a note Next volume will have "Dark Reika." お楽しみ... |
Wow, the anime really diverged from the novels.
|
Yea, it did diverge in alot of ways.
I actually have the raws of this series, and I'm trying to find a translator to help get the project started on Baka-Tsuki. This is deffinitly one of the series I'm really interested in reading. ^_^ But something most people don't know, is that "the_naming_game" on Baka-Tsuki actually translated the prologue and a bit of chapter one a while back. Here it is, for your reading pleasure. You're welcome. ^_^ Spoiler for Prologue of Book 1:
The location doesn't matter, don't question why.
Just try imagining this setting. We have two characters. A girl at that age where her body has developed well. And a boy of the same age, sound of both mind and body. The girl feebly closing her eyelids, collapsing limply on the floor. The boy, on the other hand, with shining bloodshot eyes, crawling on all fours, looming over the girl. So. Upon seeing such a spectacle, what kind of scene would you judge this as? * I've pushed down a girl. Somehow it looks like the situation has turned out like this ― Ninomiya Shungo thinks to himself calmly. A troubling situation. But. He remains completely calm. Because this was an accident, after all. Through the piling up of unlucky coincidences, this unexpected situation has occurred. Simple as that. Just back away, that should resolve it. Remove my hands from the floor, get up, make an act of wiping the dust off my clothes, scratch my head, go hahaha with an ironic smile. That should be fine. Simple as that. As simple as that, everything should be settled calmly. "..." Let's do it. "..." ― Somehow, I can't get up? He tries again. Come on! Remove my hands from the floor, get up, make an act of wiping the dust off my clothes, scratch my head, go hahaha with an ironic smile. "..." And yet the same pushed-over position. He tries once more. Remove my hands from the floor, get up, make an act of wiping the dust off my clothes ― "..." Finally, Jungo notices. The calm thinking that he has enveloped himself in thus far, can now only occupy itself in some corner of his consciousness. To see, in the greater part of his consciousness, a fierce battle unfolding between reason and passion. To see the course of the battle shift due to the overwhelming superiority of the passion faction, and the reason faction very close to putting up the white flag. Oh no. Finally impatience sets in. Oh no. Oh-no-oh-no-oh-no-oh-no. Impatience grows stronger. Aaaaaaah, if this keeps going, I'll be some abominable, rude beast, aaaaaaaaah! Calm down. Calm down-calm-down. Let's do this in order. Okay? First, to think. Why, just *why* did this happen in the first place ― !? Here's the little but of Chapter 1. Spoiler for Little Bit of Chapter 1 of Book 1:
The first: This is serious, Ninomiya-kun!
The incident happened a few hours before. We will rewind to the time when Ninomiya Jungo's life was as of yet, peaceful. * Ding dong. The incident happened along with the sounding of that doorbell. The first Sunday of the rainy season. Early afternoon, a few cicada calls still remaining. From down the stairs, through the long hall, from the entrance, he has picked up a far-off sound in his ears, and has switched off the vacuum cleaner, and raised his head. (A guest?) Ding ... dong. Once again from down the hall, that insistent sound. "Okay, okay, I'm coming." He heads down the hall, responding in a loud voice, breaking into a slight run down the sun-filled hallway, and flies down the second-floor stairs. Past the old-fashioned black telephone, through the chandelier-hung hall... "May I ask who this is?" While he asks this, the front door is pushed open. At the same time as the light streaming in, the face of a young man, filled to the brim with smiling, comes into view ― That's right, it all started from that cheerful fast talk. |
anyone want to revive this novels? its really getting interesting....
