[Manga] Naruto Chapter 698 Discussion Thread
 

Welcome to the weekly manga chapter discussion thread. This thread is created early to discuss spoilers and speculation about the upcoming chapter as well as discussion of said chapter once it has been released.

As per the forums rules, please don't ask for or mention about where to download the (licensed) manga. Also remember not to post or link to any translations of the manga, since this is illegal as well. Posting a synopses or summary is fine (and welcome) but please do not discuss scans, raws, translation groups, etc. Additionally, if you are posting another's synopsis (or their translation of a synopsis), then please provide credit were credit is due.

Remember that the manga is licensed, do not post significant parts of the chapter. This stands for pictures and direct translations. Summaries are OK, crops of pictures are OK as well if you want to illustrate your point but this is it.

Bromance ...

Kinda relieving to see Sasuke laugh, smile and admit his defeat;
While Naruto is the one who reminds they'll be died by bleeding.

Looking at how they clashed, I guess their arms burned by Amaterasu ...

After all those Rasengan vs. Chidori clashes (I've lost count by now), guess this last one was too much. Nice surprise reveal at the end, I was expecting just more bruises and cuts as usual.

Its more talking, but it is kind of a happy moment to see Sasuke just give up and mostly patch things up between them. The war is finally over. Now its on to the massive amount of clean-up. Wonder if Naruto and Sasuke will limp back to the battlefield or whether they can undo the Tsukuyomi from there. Or whether Kakashi and Sakure will ever catch up, quite a few hours have passed.

Sakura is going to show up with Kakashi and do some healing, and then we'll have the releasing of everyone, with some happy cheers and stuff, and some talking and then finally the epilogue!

i hope they dont bring their arm back.... becuase its a sign of their final battle

Well considering that Naruto is shown to have two arms, you know they'll get their arms back, lol. Remember Naruto has jesus healing. lol

But Naruto's arm is bandaged up in the movie pictures we've gotten so I'm guessing it's not really his arm but some sort of substitute (possibly just made of chakra since he likes to make chakra arms so much already).

If they just move their stumps a little so they are touching, the blood pool could form the shape of a heart...

Pretty sure it's suppose to look like hands holding each other lol.

Pretty sure that healing power came from the sun mark on his right hand, which both vanished after sealing Kagura and has had its "vessel" (right hand) removed.

I've got to say I'm pleasantly suprised; I didn't expect it the fight to end this way. I think this is one of the best ways to end things; especially with their injuries, I thought that was well written. Sasuke finally speaks his mind and you can see a look of relief on his face since he has nothing left and finally lets it all out. Naruto is the same funny Naruto, and I like how he yells at Sasuke while Sasuke lies there smiling; something we don't see often.

I loved that the fight was short. They were both insanely powerful, and skilled; and to me it seemed the physical battle was a draw; all things considered. Still, Sasuke lost because he isn't strong enough to overpower and defeat Naruto so that he gets his way; it's Naruto who will get his way, he stopped Sasuke from attaining his goal, so he wins.

What really made me laugh in this scene is that Sasuke seemed very calm, serene and accepting of how things have turned out, talking with his eyes closed and such. But then, a few panels later his eyes are open and he says"I might come for your ass again" lol... I imagine in the anime, this scene being shown with calm music, and at that moment you hear the record scratch, lol.

That must of hurt like hell...physically anyways in terms of the results of the battle.

owwhh... that kind of bromance in the end..

I also hoped they didn't restore their arms... to remind them the clash and so that Sasuke won't think of rebel against Shinobi world

Sakura would steal the last spotlight by healing them, eh? :heh:

The bromance is real.

That was a great fight overall, though. I'm actually really satisfied with how that turned out so props to Kishimoto. :)

This chapter reminds me so much of Persona 4 - max level social link with Yosuke :D

Nice twist at the end. Gotta say, I really liked this fight overall. It was well done.

For those who didn't aware, in the final page of the mangastream version, Sasuke is using his old speech " shut it....dead last" when he was talking to Naruto.
