Kurokami

Thread for this wouldn't get created, so create~

Information from New Announced Anime thread:
Spoiler for size:

Synopsis from Wiki:
Quote:

Keita Ibuki is a computer programmer who, with two of his friends, is developing and trying to sell a video game program. He has a chance meeting with a high Mototsumitama named Kuro. He gives her his dinner, a bowl of ramen, and tries to protect her when she is surprise attacked by another Mototsumitama. He loses his left arm, but she exchanges it with her left arm (Mototsumitama have enhanced healing ability).
*rest cut because it seems to be a spoiler*
According to Moonphase, Kurokami has not been officially announced yet... and not much revealed information, so something to wait on in the future, yes?

---

...This is... ah. That~
I saw this on Amazon and went to it's page because of the 6th volume's cover once before. And I also looked at a chapter or two of the manga... It didn't really attract my attention though, so I stopped reading. Maybe I'll pick it up one day......

myopius 2008-08-13 20:54

Wow. Excellent.

I hoped, but didn't really expect to see this animated. I'm happy that my intuition was incorrect.

I look forward to an announcement and more info about this. A lot of nice action so a studio that can handle that well would be ideal. Ah, Sunrise. Hmm.

(By the way, I'd consider that explanation you quoted a spoiler, since many of the plot points that are described there develop over the course of several volumes. Maybe you could cut out from "This creates ..." onward?)

OK~ :)
*snips off*

Utau 2008-08-13 22:59

oh goodie~ this looks good.

*adds to his list of about to read*

can't wait for more updates :)

Westlo 2008-08-14 02:11

I read up to.. I believe volume 5 of this and enjoyed it, happy to see that Sunrise are handling it as well. Hopefully this leads to an animated version of Unbalanced X Unbalanced which is also written by the author of Kurokami, Dall-Young Lim.

Xanithor 2008-08-14 19:42

He also does four other Manhwa: Aflame Inferno, Freezing, The Legend of Maian, and Zero. Wonder how he has time to eat and sleep. Though, woot! Black God getting animated!

shaolinx 2008-08-15 14:07

oh wow, a manwa is getting animated. Cant wait until they actually get to a good one, like UxU/change guy/immrtal regas/etc. This manwa was not that great so Iam not expecting too much out of the anime.

kaosmos 2008-08-15 14:15

As long they don't turn this into some crappy 12ep fanservice show that got nothing from the original(for those who can't read my mind,i'm talking about a certain vampire manga...),it'll be a pleasure to follow kuro out of the books. :D

just got the first volume, but i'm completely into it.

(boxing girl? do want! XD )

NeoSam 2008-08-15 14:17

Its a manga, not a manhwa. written/drawn by koreans but still seraialized in a Japanese manga magazine.

Key Board 2008-08-15 19:31

do they have enough material for this?

I'm not sure where they plan to end the story

myopius 2008-08-19 14:54

They have plenty of material. There will probably be more than 9 volumes of chapters serialized the time this comes out. (Volumes come out every six months... 6 = June '07, 7 = Dec '07, 8 = May '08, 9 = Nov/Dec '08 I'd guess).

As far as I've read, the only good stopping point so far in the entire series has been
Spoiler for Just naming a volume, not talking about plot:
So it has to be either that or a filler / "anime original" ending by my estimates.

Yep, Kuro is fantastic.

NeoSam 2008-10-02 03:41

Well, the anime adaptation has been finally confirmed :)

An official announcement of the Kuro Kami (Black God) anime adaptation has been made in the seinen manga magazine Young GanGan (issue No. 20).

Animation Production: Sunrise

Source: MoonPhase

Arabesque 2008-10-02 14:23

I am glad that Sunrise is handling this adaptation. They usually have a really good history with those(Planetes & Gintama spring to mind, even Inuyasha), so I think it is safe to say that Kurokami is in good hands.

Is there any news about the staff of the show?

Yu Ominae 2008-10-02 22:46

From ANN:

Production:
Tsuneo Kobayashi (Emma: A Victorian Romance, Glass no Kamen, The Twelve Kingdoms) - Director

Reiko Yoshida (The Story of Saiunkoku, Jyu Oh Sei, Mushi-Uta) - Series Supervisor

Hiroyuki Nishimura (Deltora Quest, Ys II) - Character Designer

Cast:

Noriko Shitaya (Air Gear, Fate/stay night) - Kuro
Daisuke Namikawa (Arc the Lad, Gantz, Black Lagoon) - Keita.

Others, no known role as of 10/3/08

Sayaka Ohara
Yukari Tamura
Jouji Nakata.

myopius 2008-10-03 00:18

Yep. It's nice to have information. I hope this gets put together for spring, since there's a higher chance it will have two seasons (which will help avoid a filler ending IMO) that way.

Keita's seiyuu also played Ulquiorra from Bleach, so I'm at least relieved that he won't be forced to sound immature.

The other two seiyuu listed are 2 female, 1 male... I can think of who the other male and female are, so I bet Ohara is the one who will voice Akane.

Edit: I'm more worried about the promotional art. Kuro has purple hair. Her eyes are glowing just a bit too much, so I hope they're not going to do something like cut lines so they only show a "limited" side of her. Also, the elements of the picture don't quite sit well when I think of the content of the manga and what it's about, though I can't say why without a spoiler. Yeah, it's easy to start thinking like this, isn't it. ._.

Yukari tamura is enough for me to watch,

Supervisor of Mushi uta? double plus.

Westlo 2008-10-03 07:25

Yeah Sayaka Ohara should definitely be voicing Akane (akane ftw!) and it's a pretty good choice for the role imo, looking forward to this.

Some interesting choices for the staff, though I am a bit worried about the character design turning out generic compared with Nishimura’s other projects.

NeoSam 2008-10-04 19:16

An official site for the anime has opened:
http://www.kurokami-anime.net/

The anime is titled Kuro kami The Animation.

kaosmos 2008-10-04 19:38

....the art is kinda....different from the manga..
