Carnival Phantasm: A Type-Moon comedy anime

I'm happy to announce that Eri Takenashi's Take Moon, a manga anthology of short stories based on the Type-Moon franchise like Tsukihime and Fate/stay Night will be getting an anime adaptation!

As a fan of the Type-Moon works, i'm gonna enjoy watching this anime.:)

Judging from the 2 volumes, the material is predominantly focused on Tsukihime and Melty Blood and we'll see very little from Fate world. It'll be strange to see Melty Blood characters animated when Melty Blood itself isn't animated...

Tyabann 2010-11-25 03:11

Wait, this is real? :heh: I thought it was a hoax when it was posted on /a/ last night.

seiftis 2010-11-25 05:57

So what will it be about? Random plot thrown in?

Kagayaki 2010-11-25 06:41

It's basically a giant omake compilation. There are at least 6 Tsukihime-related chapters translated right now for those of you who want to get a feel for it.

kyouray 2010-11-25 08:16

I didn't expect this announcement but it could be fun with Seiji Kishi (Seto no Hanayome, Sunred) as director.
However I think people who didn't play Type-Moon games would be lost.
Anyway that's the opportunity to see Phantasmoon animated ! :D

This is why the project is obviously for Type-Moon fans only. :p

Haak 2010-11-25 11:10

Do we atleast have a rough idea of when it will start airing? I still have to read Tsukihime...

Also, is this thread eventually gonna be absorbed into the Fate/Stay Night sub-forum or is it staying seperate? Just wondering.

orion 2010-11-26 12:36

So then I would need to know about Melty Blood to follow this anime?

You need the basic knowledge for Tsukihime, Melty Blood & Fate Stay Night. (at least the character relation)

MrTerrorist 2010-11-27 09:35

I hope the cast of Kara no Kyoukai makes a cameo or something.

MisaoFan 2010-11-27 09:36

The most likely to animate Take-Moon is UFO Table.

While I question the claim that only basic knowledge is needed to understand and enjoy this particular work, I'll spare you a long-winded rant and merely suggest that you add Kagetsu Tohya to the list of recommended resources. Of the translated chapters available, all of them are centered around Tsukihime and most of them reference or contain in-jokes related to Kagetsu Tohya. On the other hand, I've yet to see a single clear reference to Melty Blood (though there probably are some in there, somewhere).

Seeing as though it's only just been announced, no. :p

Eh i don't see why it should even be apart of the F/SN sub forum. That's like saying the Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai threads should be as well.

applejuice 2010-12-07 06:36

The name should be changed to "Carnival Phantasm"

It wil be animated by UFO Table like I said previously.

applejuice 2010-12-07 07:07

^ No, you are wrong (as usual). ufotable project is different one.

Animation Production: ラルケ
Director: Kishi Seiji (Angel Beat, Little mermaid etc.)
Series Composition: Uezu Makoto (Little mermaid, school days etc.)
Character design: Morita Kazuaki
Character design: Hirose Tomohito

Cast:
Tomo Shiki: Nojima Kenji
Aruceid: Yuzuki Ryoka
Emiya Shiro: Sugiyama Noriyaki (same as original)
Saber: Kawasumi Ayako (same as original)

PzIVf3 2010-12-07 07:47

So the two of them included in the project?

Mizuno 2010-12-07 08:01

Eh? Canaan is in this? Sure didn't see her in the books.

YaminoSeigi 2010-12-07 08:13

I think i have seen few part of the manga, is the manga fully translated already?

I just wonder why the omake is chosen out of sudden instead of more streamline works such as Melty blood.

The story for the Canaan anime was written by Nasu aswell, though I don't think he wrote that 428 game. You can see a lot of similar themes in Canaan and his other works.

Ehhhh.... I like Kenichi Suzumura and Hitomi Nabatame as Shiki Tohno and Arcueid. The recast was really unnecessary, unless they refused to reprise....

Haak 2010-12-07 08:31

Christ, I've only seen Nojima Kenji do Tomoya Okazaki in the Clannad film and that was freaking awful.

The seiyuu for both are the same as in Melty Blood; and that's the latest Tsukihime related work with voices (with the Actress Again revision and all) so they probably decided to go with that.

That project has no relation to this OVA whatsoever. It's much bigger project than this. I'm hoping for Fate/Zero or Tsukihime remake, but no-one knows.

I'm not questioning who created it, but like I said, Canaan wasn't in the original Take Moon books (from the 2 vol I've seen anyway).

applejuice seem to have confirmed that it has no relation to this project.

It's not a recast. Those are their official voices, since there never was a Tsukihime anime.

Are you joking or are you serious? There was definately a Tsukihime anime.

Tsukihime anime does not exist, research more.

Ignore them. It's a common joke to claim that there was no such thing as a Tsukihime anime when in fact there was but they just refuse to admit it's existence becoz how much it was Adaptation Decay

Dude, what are you talking about? I've never heard of any Tsukihime anime, and frankly I'm glad there isn't. If there was, it'd probably suck.

I mean, how DO you adapt a route system like that? It just wouldn't work.

Actually, Nasu was invited by Chun Soft to write a bonus side-story that was included in the game.

My understanding is that the anime borrows the 428 setting and characters (and the basic character designs created for the sidestory), but the show's staff created the actual story from scratch. All scripts were written by Mari Okada (True Tears, Fractale, Hanasaku Iroha).

There is no 'refuse to admit' situation. Anime 'adaptation' of Tsukihime simply does not exist. Of course, if someone thinks 'making carrot out of apple' is a definition adaptation, there is possibility. But that carrot won't even be a proper one anyway, probably mutant breed or shit.

MrTerrorist 2010-12-07 21:44

Yeah sure, "it doesn't exist" ;).

Ah okay, I guess I can accept that. I should try looking up some of the voice samples to prepare myself.

And my god, it's been 7 years and people are still in denial? :uhoh: Well I'll say just one thing. Despite all that's been done, it had a fantastic soundtrack. Now go ahead and say it was an image album for the manga instead :p.

This is nice!

Its fine by me if they'll use the same seiyuu from Melty Blood games on some of the Tsukihime characters in this new anime!:D

Haak 2010-12-08 08:31

Who is that other neko next to Saber? Don't tell me it's Ryougi...

The manga is doing a good job of it. :p

MeoTwister5 2010-12-08 08:44

I think it should really be clarified that the Tsukihime anime is not really "Tsukihime" as it really was, or what I could remember of it. It's Tsukihime in name only, frankly you could have given it a different name and it would be a completely different series altogether.

And I want my Heaven's Feel done RIGHT, not the crap DEEN pulled off for god's sake.
