Sabaody Archipelago Arc Discussion [Anime-only]
 

Welcome to the discussion thread for the One Piece Sabaody Archipelago story arc starting from episode 388. Please remember this is an anime-only thread so no discussion or reference to future events from the manga are allowed.

You know, you don't really get a good feel of Luffy using Haki on that cow/yak in the manga version. The anime makes it quite obvious that something odd is happening there. Obviously though, Luffy had no idea he did anything.
This reminds me of what Shanks did to that sea monster when he saved Luffy as a child. I guess this confirms that Shanks is probably a Haki user even back then. He also showed that ability when he went to talk to White Beard to try and get him to call back Ace.

This arc is great cant wait till the 11 supernova's are introduced.

Yay a new arc thread at last!
Anyway while short these couple of Duval episodes were full of great moments even outside the whole Sanji/Duval thing.(We all knew that poster was going to be trouble sooner or later)
Brook showing off how he fights with music...then falling to his knees from laughing so hard. :D

Franky getting confused with the word Hentai. No one does puns better then One Piece.
Chopper's face at the 'reach' of the horns.
Luffy starting to get closer to Shank's level even if it was just for a second or two.
But the best part had to be the Gaon Cannon!! MANLY TEARS WERE SHED!!:bow:

And it's nice to see Hachi return again, you can't keep having new characters all the time. Can't wait for them to reach Sabaody.

Episode 385 onwards

I'm kinda forgotten about Hachi already, it's been a while since Arlong saga. Wasn't he use 8 katanas or something?

Yep thats him got his as kicked by a half dead zoro too :D

Zoro did kick his ass pretty easily, and he hadn't yet even had his wounds from Mihawk treated yet.

I do find some serious irony in an octopus man making takoyaki. I loved that shot of Luffy after Nami gave the okay to save Hachi. He turns around and has takoyaki for eyes. Much like how Nami gets beli eyes.

I've actually been going back and watching a lot of the older episodes.

Finally the "Handsome" Duval and The Arrival to the Sabody Archipelago at the end of ep 390 ;d

We did finally get to see him. Though it appears Sanji's alterations aren't that good. Looks like its a big difficult to smile. Though, what does one expect from rhinoplasty done with a foot?
It was a bit weird how slow and graphic the scene was showing Nami eating the takoyaki. The close up of her mouth and her chewing. It was almost 'erotic'. They don't often show that much detail to her lips and the act of chewing anything.

I thought he was trying to wink(Duval) xD

But i loved the Brook's moment with Nami lol,I mean usually i don't find such things funny,but what funny was that he said "Excuse Me"(Or something like that,i was watching the japanese version)like a gentleman and then did that Rofl.

Think you can show us that scene?

I don't know, for me the way nami was animated made her look horrible, it was done in complete shojo style that somehow robbed her of her attractiveness. Also why the hell is luffy wearing a blue vest?? Its been going on for a couple of episodes, jsut wondering was this explained at all?

That is his colour scheme in the saboady archipelago arc. Don't you ever take a look at the volume covers for One Piece? It was in Volume 51 where this colour was revealed.

I'm totally loving Brooke atm, hes a legend. How he interacts with the ladies is just brilliant:heh:

and "Handsome" Duval is funny as hell, altho I think his impact would have been more if I didn't already see the manga:D

One Piece continues to be great. I guess there isn't much to talk about compared to Bleach or Naruto, but overall, One Piece has been stellar.

I wonder if Duval will actually keep his word and come help some time in the future?

So, from the look of things, this arc will be a long arc before they go on to Merman Island... Sigh, I was hoping to get a glimpse/guess for who their new "nakama" will be (I heard rumors years ago that Merman island might be where they pick up a Merman).

These arcs always have some sort of "damsel in distress" in them. I wonder how it would work from the crew to actually pick up one of these "damsels" and add her to the crew? I am pretty sure Sanji wouldn't mind.

However, if they picked up a really, really strong and cute mermaid, I think that would be icing on the cake.

Agreed. I want there to be a new female crew member that is comparable to the monster trio (Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji) or at least able to keep up with the middle tier (Franky, Brooke, and Robin).

Their not so much rumors as more like wishful thinking and random, shot in the dark guesses.

The only thing their is to support the idea that there will be a new crew member is simply the argument over how many crew members Luffy said he was going to have... and the way one argument goes says that there is room for one more until he reaches the max size of crew he is willing to take on.

Other than that, their pretty much isn't anything to support one more crew member joining up... whether it be on merman island, or anytime before and after...
me, i got my hopes set on a fishwoman (as opposed to a fishman, or a mermaid)
