A series titled 'Vampire Holmes' has been announced for Spring 2015. It's apparently based off of a cell phone game.

Actually, going by the description, Holmes, I quote:

Doesn't solve mysteries. Doesn't do any deduction. He's a new variety of "inept detective".

But, as his cases always end up solved, he's a sought-after detective.
Secretly he looks for vampires on the Metropolitan Police's order.
He has a revolver, but only one bullet in it.
He hates noise and crowds, he's sleepy at daytime, and he doesn't like to socialize with others.
He leads a life of ennui, and doesn't like doing troublesome things.

....so, essentially he's a really lazy vampire detective. :heh:

The game story doesn't seem to be a comedy, though, but rather straightforward mystery/puzzle solving, as in the user is stuck in a mysterious house and has to find out its secrets, with Holmes' "help", to find a way to get out.

It sounds cute so I'm interested. (Also, typecasting liek whoa, but Holmes had better be voiced by Ishida Akira. :heh: )

As for outfits, though, anime/manga/etc's way of having people in Regency era outfits walk around in late Victorian London never fails to amuse me...

OK, I'm playing the game - I'm still on the very early levels, but Holmes is kind of a dick. :heh: It's nothing complicated so far, but it's cute. Perhaps this will be next year's Phi Brain?

Done with the free portion of the game (not interested enough to pay loads of money for the rest) - it's cute, but it's really, really simple. I mean the puzzles, I know these are early levels, but they're very simple, and I say this as someone who sucks at puzzles. :heh:

I wonder who they're going to market the anime to. (Me, though, I'd be fine with another Phi Brain.) I guess what will make or break this is whether they can make Holmes charismatic enough, and his banter with the "user" character (if there's any) fun enough for people to stick around. Holmes is an entertaining character from what I can tell, but nothing out of the ordinary so far... (Actually I'm not sure how much of a vampire he is, he got hungry looking at some fruit.) But he has amazing art skills:

I also wonder about the anime seiyuu. My phone's speaker is not so great, but it wasn't anyone I recognized - he sounded a bit like Ono Daisuke but it wasn't Ono Daisuke, and given that there's no name plastered all over the promo material I guess it's an amateur?

Ep 01

Okay ... just saw the first ep and ... well ... to be honest I thought it was kinda amateur'ish and ... not particularly funny. :\

A pity.

Wow, I haven't seen animation that bad in a long time. :twitch:

The story went nowhere even for 3 min episode, and the subtitles were horrible. I know it's based off a game, but this is horrible. :uhoh:

Oh my goodness. I think I have just found the anime version of The Room. And Japan's Tommy Wiseau.


Poor Shimazaki-tan went from awesomeness to Parasyte to this hot mess :heh:

Well that wasn't funny at all. Only part of the episode I liked was the theme songs but this definitely failed to impress me.

I neede more Takagaki in my life so guess I'll watch this

Well there's no Takagaki but that's the least of my worries.

There's plenty of very small budget shorts out there like anything animated by DLE but at least the art looks correct, this can't even do that :heh:

I'll keep watching out of curiosity.

Wow...I don't think I've seen any series as bad as this one. Animation was terrible and no plot whatsoever.

Third anime I'm dropping this season already...not a good sign.

I don't know why I watched this to begin with. There's some good short series, like Tonari no Seki-kun and Danna ga Nani, but Vampire Holmes is simply godawful.

Well, I guess this is off my list. :heh: Too bad, I hoped it would be a cute show...

I'm surprised they count this mess as a 'show'. I won't be watching this one again, that's for sure.

I'm wondering WTF I just watched. It feels more like an episode 0 teaser episode, but it failed even that.

I checked out of curiosity, believe it or not there's actually an "in between animation" credit. :eyespin:

I liked the bit where the guy was walking down the corridor and while his shoulders were swinging his head was TOTALLY STATIC.
Hang on, not 'liked', but 'laughed at'.

I didn't even make the whole of the very short first episode. Shame really. A vampire Holmes could make for a great idea. Just not here.

I decided to try it out a second time, give it a bit of a chance, and the second episode was funnier, but still felt like it was going nowhere...and that animation...ugh....:(
