Kaichou wa Maid-sama [Manga]

I just recently picked up this series from the bookstore... has anyone heard of it? :heh: I haven't translated very much yet (there's a TON of text on each page) but I'm very enthusiastic about it. It's romance/comedy.

Misaki, the overbearing, extremely aggressive, quick-to-snap class president is always cracking down on guys. She attends what used to be an all-boys high school and the guys still have a slight mindset that they can do whatever they want and terrorize the girls at the school. Misaki's always there to defend the girls but often times, she can actually be a little unfair to the guys... she treats them like baboons, really. :P

That's all swell until the most popular guy at school, Takumi, finds out that Misaki works part-time at a café... as a maid.

Misaki realizes that her reputation at school could be ruined at any moment, or that Takumi might want to blackmail her, but he doesn't... however, that doesn't mean he can't tease her now. :p The relationship between the two is a bit like Kona+Kagami, or even Sumomo+Kotoko - Misaki is serious and hard-working, and laid-back Takumi likes nothing more than to ruffle her feathers.

It's got some sweet moments in it, too, but I won't spoil those.. :p

i read it. quite fun. i loved the manga

LCeh 2007-07-22 22:14

Yup, I read this one too. It's drawn pretty well, but sometimes it makes me wonder when the main characters will actually develop their relationships. But I guess you can say that the series is still in its early stages, with only 17 chapters released.

Risaa 2007-07-22 22:37

Waa, I never expected posts here! I agree that the relationship-building is going kind of slow, but Misaki's not one to go down easily. :) Meanwhile it's been very nice to look at and the story's been pretty entertaining.

MikumariKirara 2007-07-23 09:37

haha. i admit, i actually only read the first four volumes so far for that's how much there are in my country, cuz' it's still coming out

I read this series too! I find it great! And I was too impatient about their relationships but after what happenned in chapter 4 I'm so excited!

I just read chapters 5 and 6 and it seems like Takumi has competition. Also, for some reason, I agree with what Misaki said. Who in the hell is Takumi and why is he so perfect?

I surprise that nobody posted updates of this manga considering it's one the most popular mangas read on mangfox.

Ah, I don't think many people here use mangafox. Hourou Musuko is 6th or 7th rank(and it deserves to be) yet nobody other than 2 other people and me actually post on the thread .

Something incredible happen
Spoiler for Chp 32:

Nobody in this forum cares about this manga, do they?

Irenicus 2009-05-03 03:11

I do. It's just...what is there to say?

Besides, mangafox ratings don't always "make sense." I mean, shitty low-brow smut gets massive views there while practically literary works always get few readers and fewer comments. Lame. And shoujo manga is usually less commented on for this site anyway.

Mind, I'm not saying that this manga is on the same league as said unnamed smuts. I like it a lot in fact, Usui is full of awesome and not abusive even if he's rather possessive (kind of like Takishima), while the President is of course a very likable heroine.

This type of manga don't have that much discussion in this forum.

Special A threads has 14 posts and the series has received an anime adaptation and the manga is officially available in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Singapore and France :heh:

IMHO Kaichou wa Meido-sama is a fun read but I don't see what to discuss about :heh: Now I will "forget" about this manga until the next chapter :D

Johnny 2009-05-03 03:40

I started reading it recently and just finished up to date chapters. It's a fun read and Usui is a major reason why. Misaki is ok, but I feel her character has been run into the ground somewhat....
