This thread is to discuss the origin of the weapons characters in Soul Eater. We have currently 4 (or 5 of we considered the sisters as 2 weapons), Soul, Tsubaki, Thompson sisters and lastly Maaka's dad. Are they originally human? or are they manufactured?

So what do we already know about these guys/gals.

Soul..
Not disclosed yet but we could guess a bit..
Spoiler for manga:

His first dialogue in the anime also says that he is similar to Jack the Ripper. Which is nonhuman.

Tsubaki..
Spoiler for manga:

Thompson sister..
Spoiler for manga:

Maaka's Dad..
A weapon.. Also a human as he is Maaka's dad.. The first guy that made me curious as to what weapon's actually are in the first place

Manga weapons..
Spoiler for manga:

So, how actually a weapon is born? Voluntarily offer to turn into a weapon? Trained and learn the art to become one? Manufactured yet have ability of a fully functional human? (As Maaka's dad proves :D)

NOTE:
Please bear in mind that manga spoilers would be unavoidable and thus, requesting full cooperation to posters to fully tag each properly. Thank you :D

Unfortunately, it is actually my mistake (I did put a ? on his name in my defence :D). His name is written on his belly btw, not head (chapter 24 -pg 38)

Its good to know that his name really means something ^^ .. I'll edit his name in my first post ^^

I got the feeling reading the manga that some people were born with the ability to be Techs while others were born as human / weapons as it were.

I mean to have a human kid like Maka's dad did proves they aren't some completely separate species like Soul tries to say. Unless the gene or whatever it is doesn't always express itself every generation or something, or that because Maka's mom was a strong technician that that overrided it. There is still a lot of mysteries in the Soul Eater world.

Reminds me of the weapons in Elemental Gelade. I wonder if they are alike in nature? Maybe they are like the "sting raids" that were originally normal but made into weapons.

My thoughts on the subject:

"The Weapon" is a normal human murdered by a weapon of same type. Probably by mistake or unfairly.

Poor Tsubaki, she was murdered by many weapons at same time :(

PS: I do not read the Manga.

That's one I've never heard before, good thinking.

Maaka's dad had childhood moments, grew up marrying Maaka's mom (who is human), which ended up with Maaka. I guess in the Soul Eater world, 'Weapons' are very much humans as their 'Meisters'. The only unique Weapon breed so far is,

What intrigued me more is that both Technician and their weapon both attend same classes (so far that is shown - manga/anime) They are no difference between them, except that the weapons gets to eat the souls they capture..

Which is then have to spit out again in case of their failure.. As is the case with Soul.. wonder how they manage to extract all those 100 souls he ate already :heh:

i think it's more like they "store" the souls rather than "eating" them. As far as i've read in the manga, Soul is only one that actually "eats" the soul they retreive. If you look at the Thompson sisters they store the souls like a magazine in their gun form. So I guess "eating" is Soul's personal way(out of the many ways) of storing the souls. These souls can be extracted anyway.
Spoiler:

So i think "storing" is probably more suitable.
