After having watched Blade & Soul and the first episode of School Shock a while ago, I have faith for anime trying to adapt works from other parts of Asia to test the waters and be able to fit the Japanese animation standards even if they collaborated together a few times in the past, therefore I'll give it a watch just to see how it could work itself based on that purpose.

Here's more details behind this upcoming animated creation:
Quote:

The anime is based on a popular Chinese online novel and comic. The online novel launched in August 2013, and the online comic launched in August 2014.

Chinese company Shenzhen Tencent Computer System Company Limited is producing the series alongside Studio DEEN. The companies plan to air the series simultaneously in Japan and China, and they plan to produce both Japanese-language version and a Mandarin Chinese-language version of the show.

Just find out there was a pv for this anime from last month featuring the OP song:

Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)
The composer is Ryo Kawasaki (https://twitter.com/pmdjpmdj3) and it looks like it's his first time composing for anime.

So it looks like a special aired with live action commentary and some actual footage (not entire episode though) for the series.

Can someone finally move this to Current Series subforum please, given it already aired yesterday?

bastek66 2016-01-10 06:17

QUALITY anime of the season.

Fairy Water 2016-01-11 07:45

Lol I found Indo, Spanish and Vietnamese sub :heh:

This series is not that bad, why no sub team want to do it? :heh:
Spoiler for ep 1:

TYxTxYT 2016-01-15 14:15

Day 7: New episode out, still no EN sub for ep01. I guess this comes down to the "can't rip it off Crunchyroll/Funi, why bother" mentality.

Fairy Water 2016-01-18 23:02

The first ep finally has sub TT~TT

thundrakkon 2016-01-19 07:04

There is another sub group that is currently working on it, so at least there will be subs.

Im watching till the end whether its good or bad, its rare to have a chinese adaption. The anime has a different feel in it also.

Malicre 2016-01-19 20:01

considering this season doesn't have much romance, this show should fill that gap.

It's rare cause pretty much all Chinese action webtoons have 90% of the same settings... it gets quite boring after a while reading the same things just with different characters.

Same deal with Korean webtoons, just replace Martial Art with Street Brawl...
(tho Korean webtoons have greater art quality then Chinese)

That's mostly the reason why there's very little Chinese and Korean adoption into Japanese anime (and why most times there are very little to no SUB)

Anime from Games is another matter, cause that isn't as restricted as webtoons are. (webtoons aims for Chinese readers, Game aims for all)

___ ___ ___

Now, for this series... well... they did change some things from the manga but kept the series of events the same.

Also, to "get the jokes" in this series, you would at least need to know some basic Chinese proverbs and terms.

IE: "year sword" and "tea sword", tea here means minute... pretty much no one knows until they saw TL Note on the webtoon page...
This was actually a joke... but I don't see anyone laughing...

The series WILL NOT explain about the proverbs and terms and automatically ASSUMES you will understand the jokes when it comes up.
Because this series was AIMED for Chinese Readers, who can get the jokes.

Fairy Water 2016-01-21 19:41

^ well true but I still enjoy it. It doesn't feel like forced jokes so it somehow still funny to me.

Spoiler for ep 2:

Master_Yoma 2016-01-21 22:25

chupacabra 2016-01-22 13:33

Although this is an unlicensed anime, I'm always a little iffy on listing subbing groups on here. You can PM me if it is that important. For now, episode 1 is on Editing and Quality Control from the group. Episode 2 still has a long ways to go.
