So basicly some more Junichi Sato X Hal Film Maker TYO Animation slice of life?

Sign me up!

Also what's up with car makers and anime recently? We already had Subaru and Nissan, now honda as well!

Kismet-chan 2012-03-16 00:59

Seems interesting. I like the design of the girl, she's pretty cute. That lil travel tea set & table (complete with tablecloth!) is adorable. <3 Also, I want her scooter.

Will keep this on my radar. :3

I was riding through Iowa last summer. On I-80 before pre-dawn, just had to stop to see the sun come up from an area that overlooked a vast crop field typical in Iowa. I had a flask with me that contained hot coffee. Drinking coffee while taking in the soft reddish hue that is quickly engulfing the morning sky as the sun was ready to rise...., easily one of the best moment of my life. Truly, it is always the little thing that makes life so enjoyable.

I just couldn't help but smile as I watched the youtube preview above. :) I'll be looking forward to this OVA. Thank you Totum for starting this thread. OVA/movie series don't tend to get as much attention when compared to the TV series.

NoemiChan 2012-03-16 06:47

Development of one's personal growth, hmm... kinda, my type of anime.

Gonna wait for this....

What genre is it? Slice of life?

FireChick 2012-03-16 06:54

Putting this on my list, without a doubt.:)

I know,I completely missed the Tamayura OVAs when they aired and only noticed them shortly before the TV series was announced.
That reminds me that I hope the same thing will happen here and we'll get a TV series.

Seems like it and that's what I'd bet on with this staff, though since it's anime original (yay to anime originals!) there's no source material to check.

Speaking of the staff, Shigeru Kimiya is credited as "chief director" yet its Sato that gets the top billing (even on the official website),that seems a bit unusual though I guess Sato's name is maybe more well known?

Dop 2012-03-16 08:49

I'd not noticed this before today, but Junichi Sato doing slice of life stuff is definitely something I'm into.

Loved the scenic aspect.

Kanon 2012-03-16 09:00

I was sold on this as soon as I saw Junichi Sato's name on that list. The PV was excellent.

Dextro 2012-03-16 12:50

Here we go again and I'm in for the ride. Junichi Sato doing a nice atmosferic OVA is exactly the kind of thing that sells me. :)

Stevie_Nix 2012-03-16 13:08

When I saw the news article about this series on Crunchyroll, it instantly caught my eye. I just love nice quite silce of life series taking place in the scenery porn.

Since Kouhaku Kuroboshi is involved, it almost makes me think of a version of Kino no Tabi taking place in current day Japan... Though I guess that means there is not a 50% chance of the people Haruno meets ending up dead by her hand by the end.:heh:

I really hope CR or someone gets this.

One Off's official website.

Advertisers are finding moe works, and so they are taking it to the next logical step. In this case advertising for Honda's Giorno. Anyway, so far the combination of car makers X anime has been producing excellent results. I kind of hope it continues.

Edit: Is it just me or does those little bits of Haruno's hair that stick out on either side of her head look like Honda's wing logo?

Arabesque 2012-03-16 13:20

Seeing Junichi Sato name attached here does make me want this like yesterday here, but I'm also interested in the look of the main lead. She has a devil like quality to her design that makes it very appealing to me...

Well, I'm sure some heads from these companies might have seen something like this while they were driving around :heh:

It was only a matter of time before they figure out that they could replace real women to advertise their new cars with 2D women.:p

MisaoFan 2012-03-17 03:52

I want to watch this one only to waste time. The MC's character design really appeals to me.

Which one was the Nissan one? I'll prob check this out just because of the Honda sponsor alone :heh:

Toyota had it the easiest out of the bunch since they got Initial D without even doing anything at all lol :eyespin:

It's Rinne no Lagrange, an anime that is sponsored by Nissan : for those who doesn't know, it has mechas in it.

I was kind of wondering the same thing. Maybe she really likes tomatoes? Well its is actually a fruit despite what SCOTUS says.

Raiga 2012-03-17 15:58

Some people eat tomatoes whole. It's a thing. '_'

ANYWAY SATOU JUN'ICHI. I'm sold, processed, and packaged for shipping.

I thought my dad was the only person that did that :heh:

Random trivia, the instrument you hear in the PV is a "Ondes Martenot". Takashi Harada, the music composer, is known for playing it,so I guess it'll be all over the OST.

It's one interesting instrument, that's for sure

lol weird was having this converstaion a while back about eating tomatoes whole.
It's actually one thing I can't do depsite actually loving tomatoes.
Only way I can eat em is when they cut(even if just in half)or sliced but can't eat them whole.
Actually used to hate tomotoes as well:p

Character growth + slice of life, looks like I'm in.

Can always do with more of this type of anime compared to any other type, I love chilling out, its the one thing I really really good at!:p

It's more like "why is she eating a tomato out of all things when she's going on a drive into the countryside?" I mean I also eat tomatoes whole, but outside of the house?

brocko 2012-03-17 19:11

Countryside Farm Fresh Tomatoes: The Anime

lol :heh:

Looks like she just went shopping and she probably just couldn't wait until she got home. Probably she stopped at that same spot as the PV to enjoy one.

Now I'm thinking of an anime for Okayama's Moe Girls Jelly "Gelee Mix" line.

Midonin 2012-03-17 22:37

"One Off" is a an appropriate name for an OVA.

Which is why I hope the series becomes so popular that the title loses all relevance and just looks cool.

Hell I hope it becomes popular enough to be a series instead of one OVA.

Arabesque 2012-03-18 00:39

I used to do this sometimes back when I was a kid with some of the fruits we'd get from the grocery. I sort of stopped after getting caught eating some grapes, since I was told I had to wash them first, but I still do grab something out of the bag everytime I walk out of the store. Usually fruits.

About tomato, nowadays, I had been eating whole tomato's ever since that infernal Namikawa Daisuke song. I can't help but munch on one every now and then.

Wasn't there a sport manga/anime with a similar name?

Ah, that explains the title.

"'One Off' is a term used to refer to custom parts for automobiles or motorbikes. Just like such a unique part can make your vehicle one-of-a-kind, this work tells the story of an adolescent girl searching for something precious that only she possesses."

Not just that, "One Off" is actually used to describe anything that is generally made in large quantities but there exists only one off in the world. Like a custom watch built exclusively by a design house to a particular client or, like you said, a working prototype made to show off in one of the big auto industry saloons.

Yeah, I checked Wikipedia afterwards and it mentioned that. I just directly translated the explanation given in the article. Admittedly I forgot the "etc" after "automobiles and motorbikes" XD.

Stevie_Nix 2012-03-23 21:27

Picture of the actual scooter from the Tokyo Motorcycle Show via Twitter.

There's been a few updates to the website, notably a character page, here's your cast:

Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)
Dubbing has started and according to the twitter account there should be a cast announcement before the end of he month.

In the meantime, here's a vid ofthe recording of the OST:

Kismet-chan 2012-06-09 19:46

Lol. Once again, we have the obligatory blonde-haired, blue-eyed, big-breasted foreigner. Japanese people make me giggle.

Anyway, great character designs. I also like their names. It's always nice to see less commonly used Japanese surnames.

Why does she wear the track pants in the first place if she's going to remove them in the middle of nowhere? Shouldn't she remove them when she gets to school?

totoum 2012-06-23 06:04

Nice cast, full of voices that I always enjoy hearing more of.

I figured the trackpants were just to keep her legs warm when she's riding the bike

Hmm, I guess I can roll with that.

Looking forward to this OVA. I like the MC's devil hair, and the motorcycle theme will surely help deliver some awesome country scenery.

Flower 2012-06-28 00:14

Oh ho? Very interesting. Tbh this one flew under my radar, but I noticed today that the PV of a few months back was released subbed. Not much to actual tl, but there you have it.

Looking forward to this one. Just my style. (Hear that Enzo? Yoohoo! Enzo! :heh: )
