Zero no Tsukaima (Generic discussion thread)

Info from Animenfo.com
"When Saito wakes up a cute girl is looking into his face. Looking around, he finds he is in the strange place and sounded by people looked like wizards. Then ,he learns that he was summoned as a magic servant by the girl, Louise. While he is embarrassed, Louise kisses him saying that it is a contract. Soon, strange letters appears on his hand, and he is made a servant."

Does anyone know of this anime? For instance, was it based off a manga/game?

Shinji103 2006-02-09 19:16

Here's the link from AnimeNfo.com:

That doesn't provide much information and a Google search turns up very little. I ran a search of the English language blogsphere (technorati, feedster, bloglines, etc.) and found these related links:

- http://psgels.blogspot.com/2005/12/w...nd-beyond.html (very small blurb down at the bottom of the page)
- http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.p...anime&aid=4146 (not much except a picture and a small description)

Not a much info though. Could always run a search on Goo or thumb through the Japanese blogsphere I suppose. According to the AnimeNfo link, the original work was/is done by Yamaguchi Noboru. Sorry it's not much help. Cheers. :)

I kind of like the character designs but I mean if no one has heard of it before I'm not really expecting too much

Same studio, too, (J.C.STAFF), and also based off a seinen novel!

Coincidence? I think not! ;)

So far im on the second book.
It seems like it will adapt well to an anime.
Im looking forward to it.

Kurogane_Shiroikaze 2006-05-13 06:07

Hmm.... the art looks nice. And the seiyuus are top notch (the Shana triumvirate of Ayako-sama, Rie Kugimiya and the guy), so it sounds interesting to pick up on.

There's a promo video here:
http://www.zero-tsukaima.com/fair2006/index.html

Volume 8 of the seinen novel Zero no Tsukaima will be released sometime on June 2006.

It will be released on 24/6/2006 or 25/6/2006 (just like the other novel volumes were released either on 24 or 25)

I'll post its cover when its out.

zalas 2006-05-22 15:31

Just finished reading the first arc (first three chapters) of the first novel. I can't say I'm a big fan of the writing, as I get the feeling that the characters sometimes change behavior too abruptly. Also, it also feels kind of sleazy, with constant mentions of underwear. Other than that, it's at least mildly entertaining, and the revelation in chapter three made up for some of the other parts. The language isn't too hard to digest and I suppose I'll continue reading to find out what happens next.

And as a sidenote, I find it kinda cute that a lot of the characters are references to people in France during Louis XIV's reign.

NeoSam 2006-06-11 09:30

Ok, this is supposed to be right, since this is from the publisher >.<

Volume 8 of the seinen light novel Zero no Tsukaima will be released on 23/6/2006 :)

Here its cover:

http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/3646/vol88bm.jpg

A manga based on the light novel will start soon :)

Zero no Tsukaima manga will be serialized in the new seinen(young men's) manga magazine Comic Alive, the first issue (yes the first issue) of Comic Alive magazine will be released on 27/6/2006, and the first chapter of Zero no Tsukaima manga will be serialized on the first issue of this new seinen magazine :)

Comic Alive
Monthly manga magazine
Site: http://www.mediafactory.co.jp/comic-alive/
Target audience of magazine: young men

The cover of Comic Alive is so moe~ >.< I want it >.<

Comic Alive will have manga in it that are based on seinen light novels that are published under the seinen label MF Bunko J.

As soon as I saw the artwork (before reading your posts) I thought there were definite hints of Shana in there, both art style and the girl's design. I'll be checking this one out, since I rather liked Shana and the story sounds vaguely fun :)

NeoSam 2006-06-12 06:29

I read somewhere that Louise is Tsundere >.<

Now I'm more looking forward for this :D

zalas 2006-06-12 14:57

Compared to Shana, it seems to me that Zero focuses more on the main character, while Shana seems to be a mix between Shana and the main character. I didn't find Louise (rest of super long name omitted) as interesting as the main character, while I found Shana more interesting than Yuuji. And if you want tsundere, go watch Tsuyokiss ;o
